    Happy 21st Kelly!

im home. im in love with red deaths... and thats all i have to say. oh yeah... HAPPY BIRTHDAY ME!!! thanks guys! stacy, im ashamed of you :) http://kel197.tripod.com/skydivefriendsTRIPOD/
  2. finally! i can see for myself how to spell your damned name
  3. ahh... alright, so you went low on accident.. we've all done it, we all do it, and we will all do it again... but do you seriously pull at 2.5 normally? I just want to make sure you realize that that is Low, at least for your (and my) experience level.. I dont want to hear that somebody from here (or anywhere) went low, had a mal and freaked out.. that could be the end of you.. dont want that. not at all. but we do skydive with the expectation that were going to have a mal on every jump. its what helps keep us heads up. You really dont want to be in a situation where youre facing a malfunction at 2.5 or below. Next time you jump, look down. think about it.. do you really want to be seeing 'garbage' or worse off, fighting a horseshoe mal or a pilot chute in tow at that altitude? just want you to be as safe as possible http://kel197.tripod.com/skydivefriendsTRIPOD/
  4. that sounds wrong.. im not attacking his skill. he's obviously got it from what you say... but his experience doesnt back up pulling that low. and instructors cant help him live, they cant fix a malfunction for him, no matter what the movies may say http://kel197.tripod.com/skydivefriendsTRIPOD/
  5. being a pilot gives him advantages but is there going to be an instructor there taking grips, giving him the pull signal etc etc when he has his first malfunction? what if its a high speed? that leaves him with about 10 seconds until impact... or even a partial mal.. their VERY PERSONAL experiences, and the people around you can only stay there for so long (theyve got to deploy too) and they cant really help you when youre facing a scary situation. sorry, but i think pulling that low without a lot of experience or jumps (note i didnt say skill~youre attention to his passing AFF in 7 jumps, standing landings up, doing bigways) is just plain dangerous. Why does he have to go that low? Nobody does, but its the more experienced jumpers that have the experience to make that decision to go low. case isnt closed.. http://kel197.tripod.com/skydivefriendsTRIPOD/
  6. a quick check of your profile (cause "i stayed like that for a little bit" doesnt give me the impression you've got hundreds of jumps..) and youre profile says you have 40 jumps. Are you actually saying that youve got less than 50 jumps (or a few hundred for that matter) and normally pull at 2.5k, sometimes sucking it down to 2k? WTF? god damn. has nobody noticed this and told you to get your head out of the sand and realize you need to be pulling higher? just being the safety (nazi) i am.... http://kel197.tripod.com/skydivefriendsTRIPOD/
  7. I LOVE LISA!!! THANKS! now i just have to figure out how to recall the date and organize it... hmm. but thats okay. at least its started now.. thanks guys http://kel197.tripod.com/skydivefriendsTRIPOD/
  8. on the back of the adaptor thing that you put the protrack in it has directions.. "snap protrack into cradle" did that "CLick connect in jump track program to enable data transfer" did that. "Red light comes on when unit is ready for data transfer" did that. red lights on "Go to protrack PC window and press set to start" alright, if their not talking about the actual protrack then im screwed b/c you cant click on any ohter options after you hit connect.. not unless you cancel that option and go back to main menu. WTF> i just want to play with my new toy. http://kel197.tripod.com/skydivefriendsTRIPOD/
  9. im sure it works that way clay. I've got about 50 jumps on it, waiting to be downloaded. can anyone help me? http://kel197.tripod.com/skydivefriendsTRIPOD/
  10. alright, i loaded the jumptrack into my computer..now i cant figure out what to do next.. there arent any directions. i looked in the 'help' option but it doesnt explain what to do. I selected "protrack" and i went to upload.. nothings happening..~!!!!! http://kel197.tripod.com/skydivefriendsTRIPOD/
  11. my bday is on monday. I filled out a registary at square 3. so
  12. right now, its definitally canopy time that i enjoy most. A friend introduced me to high altitude (13,500ft) hop and pops when i had around 20 some jumps and the awesomeness of it still 100%. I prefer canopy time mostly because so many worries are already behind you by then and because its just plain fun. I remember one jump.. at 8,000ft. Damo was on my right... we look over and see test jumpers jumping tandem systems. They road up to alititude with the rest of us then rode the plane back down to 8grand b/c they were pulling high, doing test jumps etc.etc. so they were getting out last and low. So there we are under canopy at 8,000ft and we look over and see them, also at 8,000 ft (a good distance away) exit, deploy the drouge, freefall, watched the camera guy break off, and deploy the main. Being under canopy and seeing that really gave me a feel for freefall drift. You could plainly see them falling on an angle. It was the most awesome sight ive ever seen. What really made me smile though was to have Damo, an experienced Freeflyer with a couple of thousand jumps look back at me screaming and smiling about how awesome that was. It felt like it was a moment in time we werent normally ment to witness but got lucky and happened to be in the right place at the right time.. I pull high on every jump, conditions permitting. Something about being under canopy.. I cant put the correct words to it, but its awesome. You can fly around, talk to friends, control most every little movement. Plus, you get to sit back and look around. Pretty sweet if ya ask me. kel http://kel197.tripod.com/skydivefriendsTRIPOD/
  13. Chris... many memories of him, all of them good. I remember most clearly the coach jumps he did with Georgie Gelardi this summer. I can see perfectly back 6+ months ago the two of them coming in from the landing area then sitting down in the middle of the hangar, right near my locker. I'd constantly walk past them, occasionally join in as a quiet observer. I just remember chris watching his videos of the coach jumps... He would smile so brightly, his bald head glistening with a bit of sweat cause it was hot then.. but no matter how hot, how hard a skydive, how much adrenalin was pumping he was always so relaxed looking, always smiling. I remember DeLand.. it was New Years Eve day and Lauren Demmi and i left zhills and drove to Deland to see Lana, another xkeys friend. We ment up with Lana and walked to the packing area. Right inside, on the right stood Chris, bent over his gear, closing his container. I ran up and he pulled me up (like he always did), squeezed me real tight, sorta swung me around a little and gave me a huge hug.. It was so nice to see a Xkeys friend when so far away from home.. It always seems like it works that way.. you meet all these great people on different DZ's, but the ones you tend to gravitate towards are friends from home... My last and best memory of Chris is from his last week or so at xkeys.. I was running out to leave when I changed my mind. I went back inside and found a few friends and said goodbye to them.. Chris was the last person I saw, since he almost always packed near the entry to the tarmac, in front of manifest.. He did that thing where he picked me up, pulled me close and held me tight.. Squeezing me until i couldnt stop giggling and begging to let me breath :) So glad I have that memory... Audra, I've got some stuff I've written too.. I'd like you to see it before anyone else.. get your opinion. kel to Chris' family: You guys are so dear to me now. I'm blessed to have ment you and to have had my heart, soul and life touched by all of you and the amazing love and understanding you guys display. Thankyou for allowing me into your hearts. I cant explain how much it means to me.. You guys are amazing... Kel http://kel197.tripod.com/skydivefriendsTRIPOD/
  14. no way. look at it this way.. the very least it gets you use to flying close to someone else, even if you dont actually get comfortable with it. Right now my favorite part if canopy control. I cant get enough of it. A document on another thread is an awesome read. see a couple of posts below. It has a huge educational section, then a test, then the answers. I took it, copied it to word, edited it a bit and printed it out. I went thru it and made notes on the parts i dont understand.. now i can take it to an experienced CRW person and find out the answers. just my opinion (and i have been refered to as a safety nazi recently) but CRW is one of the best and most educational aspects of skydiving. The majority of deaths/serious injuries occur under canopy.. why not train to handle situations where youre in close proximidy to other jumpers? http://kel197.tripod.com/skydivefriendsTRIPOD/

  21. hey. i guess im unofficially a CSS goer. I cant say jumper, cause the 2 times ive been out there I wasnt able to jump. But i am talking to Peter the packer about going down there a couple of weekends b/w now and the end of march to help him out on the packing mat cause its just him right now. I was there 2 weekends ago and packed all weekend. If you get there and are interested in some work talk to him. he could use all the help in the world right now. kel http://kel197.tripod.com/skydivefriendsTRIPOD/
  22. alright. a few years back, in Perris I believe, a guy named Paul Joseph was doing CReW with his team mates. he became entangled with another jumper and the other guy cutaway. PJ attemped to cutaway but was in a violent spin.. he did something like 180 rotations (From a count watchign the video) before he dumped his reserve, grabbed as much of the mess as he could and landed on a roof. where he promptly fell off and landed next to a sticker bush. (first hand account, PJ's a good friend and ive seen the video). now, heres a clue. THe team is mentioned in an article hanging on the wall at the Bent Prop bar and Grille out at skydive arizona. The article is a year prior to this incident, and its about "skydiver of the year" or something. I Think the guy its abouts name is Jim, not sure though. he got the award because he saved Pauls life on a jump at the time. CRW wrap and the guy did something that allowed PJ to live.. okay, youve got the clues. please help me find the article. i think it happned at a nationals competition. the footage was shot from the ground w/ a special camera. thanks! http://kel197.tripod.com/skydivefriendsTRIPOD/
  23. ( um, fruce baby.. i know you've got power. i remember "youve got a white tee on, you dont have to drink it.. it still counts if you at least spill it down your shirt..." or something like that http://kel197.tripod.com/skydivefriendsTRIPOD/
