Just to clarify, by " ... paying to attend an event ... ," I mean the portion of each slot that goes through Vertical Visions' hands into the NPS pocket. I think the world of JB and can't imagine how BD could be run anywhere near as well without him (and his peeps). He's the guy with the ass on the line, here. So, I will certainly chip in to cover his expenses for being the contracted BASE "entertainment provider" for the year of our boycott. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.

Well, Nick, to be blunt, we will continue to legitimize their position by paying to attend an event in which they continue to hold most--if not all--of the cards. "yes massa, I takes yo table scraps, an I sho do loves it."--no racial prejudice intended, nor should it be implied. I didn't attend Bridge Day this year. For me, that was a huge sacrifice, but upon principal, I cannot knowingly contribute to maintaining--if not further enforcing--the status quo of the "standoff" between us and them. They were afforded a certain level of power when the NPS was established. They have used their autonomy to create a whole new set of rules, unhindered by any traditional checks-and-balances system. They have specifically targeted us and continue to prosecute us for our forefather's missteps. Fuck that. We have been dealt but one hand, and I believe that hand is strong. We are THE SINGULAR REASON 150-200 thousand people show up in Fayetteville on the third Saturday of October. This is the case that we, not the rangers, have the power. We know that, and despite their posturing, so do they. We are one year away from BD06. No tickets have been bought. No rooms have been reserved. I say right now that WE, AS A FAMILY stand firmly together--set aside our selfish, short-sighted needs for today--and fight for our right to use OUR national parks. I say we BOYCOTT Bridge Day 2006! It's a little pain today, for a bigger gain tomorrow. And let the media/political frenzy begin... mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.

Contrast what you know from the past 26 years to what happened on the river itself on the last weekend of September, alone. That was just three weeks prior to BD2005. Here's a report of the incidents on the river. Several severe injuries (one of which that included a lifeflight was not included here, as the NPS proper wasn't involved, directly) and one fatality occured. The fatality is a bit fuzzy on details, but note that "blunt force trauma" was the coroner's ruling as the cause of death. enjoy mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.
  4. JP, Do you have any photos (or know where I can find some) of VSE risers? About four years ago, Kelly made me a set of regular risers for my old Infinity, but I am not familiar with the newest VSE mini-risers or the velcroless toggles. Any help would be appreciated. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.
  5. From what I saw on I66 this morning, this old boy should just about be home by now. I hope the next time I see it, it's getting around on it's own. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.
  6. On the flipside, I know a couple cool cops from metro PDs who dig the idea of BASE. They even suggested sites I hadn't really thought of and said I should give them a heads-up prior to making jumps in their jurisdictions. Then, they could "ground crew" from a distance in case calls came in or something else happened. They'd be on the scene first and could take care of things. (Let it be said, they are not your run-of-the-mill beat cops, so busting someone for tresspassing isn't a motivating factor.) I haven't taken them up on it yet, but I think it's potentially advantageous. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.
  7. Cool read. My new favorite quote: "You couldn't have driven a sixteen penny nail up my ass with a sledghammer." mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.
  8. One thing I didn't notice you mention was the pilot chute. Is the new PC a different size or fabric? Is the mesh a tighter pattern? PC size and type certainly has an effect on opening characteristics. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.
  9. I've only jumped my multi once, but I wasn't impressed enough to use it since. I have looked at those little stow points inside the container, though. If you think about it, the stow points are restraining the bridle after the container itself is already open. That means the canopy is free to move about (even exit the container) while the bands are still releasing. Maybe I am just overthinking it, but it seems to be just one more thing that could really fuck up my day. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.
  10. or print on yellow paper. Funny, I just pulled a page from our Canon Z800 and sure enough, under a loupe, there's a pattern of teeny yellow dots all over it. I never would have know. When it all comes down to it, what's it matter? The FBI has my fingerprints. The DoD has my DNA. My cell phone is on. I just need to get OnStar in my next vehicle and *they* can track me, frame me, or do whatever else they want to me. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.
  11. The McClure-Volkmer Firearms Owner's Protection Act of 1986 provides Safe Passage through any state, regardless of that state's laws, provided certain criteria has been met. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.
  12. So New Mexico's 5 EVs wouldn't push GWB over the top? Nevada is still in play, as is Wisconsin. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.
  13. Yet another dead heat. Now showing a slight favor for GWB. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.
  14. Naaaah. It's a late bloomer is all. Dallas county is largely unaccounted for in the current figures. Dallas county is highly republican. I'll call Iowa for GWB as of now. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.
  15. Ummmm, Kerry was winning it. Now Bush is up by 4,300. That's more than when I posted the first Iowa comment. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.
  16. Hmmmm, Anybody else notice who's leading in Iowa with 87% in? mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.
  17. PA won't be final until tomorrow at the earliest. I have heard there are judges, courts and such involved to hear complaints about absentee votes beginning tomorrow. I think PA is gonna be a sticky one, unless it's totally overwhelming. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.
  18. 50% to 86% in a couple minutes. funny how it all changes. Good call... mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.
  19. Talk about anybody's race... Looking at Delaware, which was called very early for Kerry... With 50% counted, Bush leads 105k to Kerry's 96k. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.
  20. I find it "interesting" that everybody including CNN is giving NJ to Kerry, but it's a 119k to Bush's 118k lead, with 6% reporting. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.
  21. Eh, I was talking about recent bills, in light of recent claims by one presidential hopeful that not voting for him would potentially lead to a draft. I do find it interesting that the bill against the draft (HR 368) is co-sponsored by Democrat John Conyers and Democrat Pete Stark, while both gentlemen also co-sponsor the latest pro-draft bill. Hmmmm, why exactly do I loathe politicians? mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.
  22. Sorry Kev, I cannot find a republican-sponsored or cosponsored draft bill on the congressional website. Can you point me in the right direction? mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.
  23. non-partisan? That's news to me. Please inform me. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.
  24. Calm down there tiger. The Universal Draft (H.R. 163)is actually something that has been before Congress in the last 30 days. It has an interesting, partisan list of sponsors, but seems to have no tie to Bush. My old buddy and one of your (Pennsylvania's) Reps gave one of the two yea votes it received. Informative article from The Hill here. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.
  25. Interestingly, I heard something on the radio this morning that was disturbing. A 19-year-old college student in Maryland was being interviewed, and he stated he voted for Kerry because he didn't want to be drafted. If it wasn't such a sad indicator of naivete and downright ignorance of the masses, I think that would have been gut-busting hilarious. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.
