  2. In Byron, sunset load, we made a 12-way "S".. then we broke it in the middle and made a slot for Shannon.. it was beautiful... and dark.. maybe it was a little after sunset..
  3. Hey Bill, I have a pretty extensive metal fab and powder coating facility and I made that bracket for Iwan.. It is time consuming and therefore expensive to make little custom one-off brackets like that so I only make stuff for my Byron peeps when they ask nicely and our shop supervisor has the time to mess around with it.. There are only 3 parts to it if Iwan could sketch them for you and you have some basic metal-working tools, you could probably make something close.
  4. I finally got my demo 132 last Friday.. I'm keeping it.. and I ordered it's twin.. Needless to say, I like it! This is one fun canopy.. It is extremely sensitive to harness input, has an amazing flare and seems to dive forever.. the control range on toggles is very short.. bringing a toggle just to shoulder level puts you in a very hard turn. The riser pressure is good.. it reacts very well to starting your turn with a combination of harness and riser and then letting up on the riser and just using your harness. I only managed to put 10 or 11 jumps on it last weekend switching back and forth between the rig with the Pilot in it and this one so I can't wait to go fly my Mamba some more this weekend. Oh, yeah.. wing loading is just under 2:1 chopchop gotta go... Plaything needs a spanking.. Lotsa Pictures
  5. Although I load my Pilots a lot more than you load yours, I do not find the riser pressure high at all. There are ways to unload the riser you are going to pull but talk to a canopy coach about that as I really want someone to watch you as you learn as opposed to telling you how to do it and you going it on your own.. Also, I think you may be misjudging whether your canopy is speeding up or not when you do the carve up high. my bet is it is, you just don't have any way to judge it. Fially, make sure your brake lines are long enough such that you can pull on your risers without deflecting your tail as this shortens the recovery arc even more and makes it more difficult to pull down the risers. Good luck. get coaching! chopchop gotta go... Plaything needs a spanking.. Lotsa Pictures

    Pilot

With just about 600 jumps on 2 Pilot 140s loaded at 1.9:1, I find the Pilot to be a very solid canopy. My previous canopies were Stiletto 150s and in comparison, I can swoop the Pilot farther than I could the Stiletto, it opens better and turns as fast. I found the front riser pressure to be quite manageable with good technique. I can consistently get back from the long spots an AFF or tandem video can put me at, open on heading on a birdman jump and then swoop it across the pond.. To me, that is a great all-around canopy. Flat turns and straight in approaches, even downwind landings are also things the Pilot takes in stride. Bottom line is, the Pilot is one great parachute.

  15. I just had to replace my PC105 so I got a HC-90 which was a little wider and squatter. The cool thing is it is a top-loading camera.. You tandem videots out there know how much fun it is to change tapes between loads when you're in a hurry and you have to remove your camera from your helmet to do so.. So, we made a hinge mount. There is a knurl bolt at the front that I loosen to swing the camera up and back for easy tape changes.. chopchop gotta go... Plaything needs a spanking.. Lotsa Pictures

  17. Actually, I'd really like to demo the 140 and the 132. I am thinking of switching to Mambas for 2006.. but I need to demo first. I'll send in a request. Why would you think I'd want a 150? I'm not that old.. chopchop gotta go... Plaything needs a spanking.. Lotsa Pictures

  23. I haven't jumped a Pilot at a light wingloading but Iv've got 400 jumps on my 140s loaded at a little over 1.9:1. They are fun canopies.. they don't spin up, I can get a pretty nice swoop on, they have enough flare to land straight in, they get me back from long spots, overall just a good solid canopy. Sunday I was a little too long and flat turned 180° back into the wind from 300 feet AGL and still had room to let it fly before flaring. I highly recommend these canopies to anyone looking for a great all-around canopy. chopchop gotta go... Plaything needs a spanking.. Lotsa Pictures

  25. I've been jumping Icons with Pilot 140s and SMART 135s in them all year. About 400 jumps on them so far. They are holding up well, fit comfortably, and stay closed until called upon to open.. I am enjoying the Pilots and prefer them to the Vision but I'm looking forward to jumping the Mamba. I've got 2 reserve rides both of them due to snagging my cutaway handle on the door on climbout. Since you are not a fat guy with camera wings at a King Air dz, you won't have to suck in your gut to avoid this. The SMART reserves fly nice and lands gently, even loaded at 2:1. When I first got the Icons, I didn't like the dive loops, but they were in the midst of changing the design and retrofitted my risers at no cost.. even gave me a couple of demo canopies for the weekend I was without mine. You can't go wrong buying from Aerodyne. Their products are solid and their service is outstanding. chopchop gotta go... Plaything needs a spanking.. Lotsa Pictures
