  1. OK, Lisa. See ya in the Bombshelter Nov. 8th or 9th. I'll buy ya a couple of beers for that quick bit of detective work.. btw, anyone flying my purple, yellow and ivory luv-nest today? Keep an eye on them. Strange things occur to people under that canopy... chopchop PD makes canopies all day long, you only have one life, when in doubt, cut away...
  2. Awe man... so busted. That little card file they have got me. It was the first trip. - June on a Saturday. Can I still rent if I need to? I don't think we spilled... much. Won't do it again.... promise. chopchop PD makes canopies all day long, you only have one life, when in doubt, cut away...
  3. How'd you know? It was a Safire 209. A yellow and purple one, I think. Oh, no! If they figure out who this is they may never rent to me again. Hopefully won't be in that situation again but... one never knows... chopchop PD makes canopies all day long, you only have one life, when in doubt, cut away...
  4. Ooops, sorry all. My bad. I paid total attention to the fact that he had lines tangled on his body and forgot he was a student. As a more experienced jumper, I would not want my reserve opening until I cleared myself of the lines and the attached canopy. As a student probably freaking out a little at his first mal, you guys are right, don't mess with stuff you don't understand. You did good Christopher. chopchop PD makes canopies all day long, you only have one life, when in doubt, cut away...
  5. it's not - it is one of those hard flat covers. unlocks and lifts up on hydraulics. If there is no rain, it would work pretty well, though. chopchop PD makes canopies all day long, you only have one life, when in doubt, cut away...

  7. I usually go to budget rent-a-car, a national chain that rents Ford Ranger crew-cab pickups with locking bedcovers for $24.95 / day or $119.99/wk. They are great for hauling your gear around in especially if you will be buying camping equipment.Check it out at http://www.budget.com/deals/hotdeals/current.html chopchop PD makes canopies all day long, you only have one life, when in doubt, cut away...
  8. ditto the thanks, Matt. I have been checking my rig ever since and missing it more on every flight. Was afraid I would get majorly hassled. You never know... nowadays it could come in handy. chopchop PD makes canopies all day long, you only have one life, when in doubt, cut away...
  9. sometimes stuff just snowballs like that. you get frustated from spinning in your dive, you get a line twist - little adrenalin shot, hearts pumping, brain lock, screw up approach. No biggie, at least you got a couple more jumps in. That's the main thing. good luck in November. chopchop PD makes canopies all day long, you only have one life, when in doubt, cut away...
  10. Wow, Christopher! nasty one. I know you have probably heard this a few times but next time go RSL release, cutaway, reserve. You got lucky. Glad to hear you're ok. chopchop PD makes canopies all day long, you only have one life, when in doubt, cut away...
  11. Hey Anne, As my sig suggests, you did the right thing. If YOU are not comfortable with the situation, you have to change it. That's what I do and how I got my handle. chopchop PD makes canopies all day long, you only have one life, when in doubt, cut away...
  12. WooHoo! Skydive Dallas - awesome place! Friendly people, great skydivers, big planes. PD makes canopies all day long, you only have one life, when in doubt, cut away...
  13. what the h*ll? Is paying $15-19 to jump out of an airplane safely not freedom? C'mon, the rules are there to keep us all safe doing a sport we all love. They are not in the least bit restricting. Anyone that wants to break any of the rules mentioned (that are real rules, not the small canopy one or the min. exit alt.) I don't want to jump with. I love the sport and value my life. I don't want someone around me in the air who is not safety-conscious. PD makes canopies all day long, you only have one life, when in doubt, cut away...
  14. the jump sounds cool. did it work? those inflatables can be hard to handle. PD makes canopies all day long, you only have one life, when in doubt, cut away...
  15. Hmmm... I think I had that thought and look on my face this morning... and of course my sweetie's are all natural. Silicon breasts? whatever - give me perky natural over those hard over-inflated balloons any day. chopchop PD makes canopies all day long, you only have one life, when in doubt, cut away...
  16. As a principal in my business, the business had to have life insurance on my partner and I to buy out the other's family in the event of a death. I had to get $1.5 million on each of us. My partner has high cholesterol and I skydive. By pitting 2 companies against each other, I was able to get standard policies for both of us. At first, they wanted to make him a Table 5 and add an expensive skydiving rider to mine. Basically, if you work them, you can get a good rate and get the skydiving rider waived. Oh, one last thing - before getting the rider waived, it was about 50% cheaper because I am a USPA member. As American Express says "Membership has its benefits." chopchop PD makes canopies all day long, you only have one life, when in doubt, cut away...
  17. Kris - hideous is an understatement. What were you thinking when you ordered that thing? Pammi - Sorry to hear about charlie's landing. glad to hear he'll be ok. Re: Kids seeing it all. We can't protect them from life. I love bringing my 5 year old daughter to the dz and she has a healthy respect for the possible consequences of each jump. It would hurt her deeply to see one of her dz friends / surrogate parents get hurt but I think she could handle it. Hope she never has to. chopchop PD makes canopies all day long, you only have one life, when in doubt, cut away...
  18. oh, happy day! Congratulations on your progress within your home dz! Are hybrid jumps next? PD makes canopies all day long, you only have one life, when in doubt, cut away...

  20. Wow!! Good thing I am not in skydiving to meet chicks. It appears they are all surfing or snowboarding. On the other hand, there's this one girl at my dz.... PD makes canopies all day long, you only have one life, when in doubt, cut away...
  21. If they were trying to learn to skydive, it was probably so they could bail out the next time they send a plane hurtling into some building or possibly jump out before putting it on autopilot as it dusts a city with anthrax or something. My guess is it would be an escape means not a way to becom a human bomb. Anyway, I hope it doesn't warrant shutting us down. The only other concern I could imagine is if they hijack a jump-plane!! OMG - a plane full of skydivers - they wouldn't have a chance!! PD makes canopies all day long, you only have one life, when in doubt, cut away...
  22. I agree with some of the other guys. I believe it is important to have both skills for a couple of reasons. If you can fly well on your belly, it will enhance your freefly skills. It will also get you into a lot of fun belly RW jumps and help you get to know your home dz buddies better perhaps finding out some of them can freefly if they desire. Despite what you choose as your main passion in skydiving, you should be well-rounded to get the most fun out of this sport. I personally do both and work on both almost every weekend. I am lucky enough to have a great predominantly freefly dz about 45 minutes away and a great RW dz another 45 minutes beyond that one. It makes for a great day to go to the RW dz bright and early (they do tend to get up earlier and stop earlier) do a bunch of 4 - 16 ways and then around 2 pick up and go to the freefly dz for some really cool freeflying and a nice sunset load tracking dive. Afterwards, it also happens to have the best nightlife, I drink with my freefly buddies and the few RW guys and instructors there. It is really the best of both worlds and I would feel so limited if I was only in one of them. Open up dude, enjoy the sport completely! 23. Here, there, everywhere.. seriously. I have only been skydiving for about 9 months and have jumped at 10 different dzs. I was skyborn at Skydive Atlanta in Thomaston - AFF level 1, did the rest of AFF at Byron, and since have jumped again in Atlanta, Skydive Chicago with Roger, Quincy 2001, Skydive Dallas - woohoo, great people!, Skydive Texas, Lake Tahoe, Perris, Davis, and Lodi. 10 dzs and only 93 jumps. The most jumps i have made anywhere would be Byron with about 40%. I am starting to like Lodi an aweful lot, though so I guess I jump at Lodi. See ya Saturday!!! 24. Hey, maybe i am chop-happy but i like a canopy that is what I expect it to be. Given enough altitude, I say get rid of it. when in doubt, cut away... live on to jump another day
  25. I did it. 2 malfunctions in 2 days both packed by me. The first one I packed in the storm and got a tension knot. Found everything. the second one I packed in a hurry, had a violently spinning malfunction that sounds very much like ramon's. Over the corn, everyone saw it, no one could find it. Thank God it was Saturday afternoon and I didn't miss out on much jumping. I lost everything. Now I pack slower and much more carefully.
