  1. I've seen some great still pics that make the colors very bright and vivid. I recall someone telling me there was a special filter that exagerated the color....any ideas? I'm using a Cannon XSi so it's not the most elite but I would love to get some ideas? You can hit me at [email protected]....
  2. Can anyone provide a copy of a First Jump Course/AFF ground school on Powerpoint? I want to make one specific to my DZ but didn't want to go from scratch if possible. I'll cite you and give you credit if you want ;-) Thanks for any help...Happy Flights!
  3. I'm looking for a copy of a presentation for the AFF First Jump Course. Even if it's specific to your DZ I would love some ideas as I want to make one for my DZ. Thanks for any leads.
  4. Can someone describe a step by step swoop set up? I want to read through the posts to get a grip on what swooping is all about before I start doing drills up high but a step by step will help me understand what I'm reading and watching in videos. Can anyone give a step by step as to approx altitude one makes a riser turn, when risers are released and toggles take over, flare etc? I know this all varies but there must be a generalized format?
  5. That King Air is sick. I did two today and it was all of 5 min 33 seconds to 16K...standard...very fast. During the week, they fly it light and it gets going. Even full it hits 16K in 6 + minutes.
  6. I'm with you, there's plenty of highly skilled players out here particularly in the south w/Perris and Byron where I can visit and Lodi w/mad freeflyers up there but I live in the area of Skydive Monterey and it's a tandem factory so there's a bit less of the swooping right now. It's a coming and going crowd but for me...it's tough to score a mentor right now. Anyway, I appreciate any drill suggestions. I will read the book though...happy flights...
  7. Hopefully some who know how to start swooping safely can provide some input. Currently, we don't have a big swoop crowd or even an up-jump crowd at our DZ so I thought I would see what kind of info I could generate here. What kinds of drills can I do (up high) to prepare me for a swoop set-up? What kind of basic approach can I do to understand and safely execute a swoop at all (even if it's a short one). I've held back but it seems I've held too long and have no mentor locally...thanks for any info.
  8. Simply put...we corresponded via email w/the DZ, jumped in the car and drove the entire Baja Pennisula with three weeks to jump every chance we could get. When we arrived, the first DZ rep explained to me that only jumpers w/high jump numbers (we're new/under 160)could jump there. Now, in our correspondence we covered this topic and even purcheased flotation devices. In chatting with the DZO, he Ok'd us to jump but explained they were having trouble maintaining permission landing on the beach. So, after a week of waiting for them to chat it w/their attorneys (that's what he told us at least), we hit the road and spent out time SCUBA diving. A few days later and 1,000 miles of driving we made it to San Diego where the poeple and the jumps were great. After all that...I would recommend emailing with them but even that won't give you any security so I would say, give them time to get organized and professional before going. Those are my thoughts and impression...NOT GOOD. Email me if you want more....
