  1. Just curious, why specify transplant only? Your body could be a valuable part of scientific research. Check out this Radio Lab episode about donation for science. https://www.wnycstudios.org/story/grays-donation Full disclosure, the lady featured in the episode happens to be my stepsister. - Dan G

  3. Good job belittling valid concerns by implying the only people who aren't happy are serial curmudgeons. It's a BS argument and you know it. I understand the dynamics at play quite well. I fled the DC area almost 20 years ago, mostly to avoid the traffic. I'm glad I did, because it has only gotten worse. Property owners have been raking it the dough, for sure. My Dad sold his suburban house a couple years ago for well over twice the buying price from 1989. My wife's mother sold her Arlington house (small three bedroom, two bath) for $650k about ten years ago. New houses in the same neighborhood are now going for $1.2M. It's not property owners who will lose. It is lower income people. Not whiners or curmudgeons. People with valid concerns. - Dan G
  4. Actually many of the people (the little people, mind you) aren't happy about it at all. I grew up less than ten miles from where HQ2/3 will be, and I live about 1 1/2 hours away now. Traffic and rent/housing prices are already some of the worst in the country. This will just help make Arlington another SF Bay area where no one who isn't making six figures can't live anywhere nearby and it will take them two hours to commute in. - Dan G
  5. As far as Alrington, VA goes, they don't need the tax money or jobs, and housing prices are already through the roof. This deal, like many government deals, is going to make some rich people richer and screw over the little guy. - Dan G

  10. No one is arguing that adding 250,000 jobs isn't good. We're arguing whether it is because of Trump's genius. We are also pointing out the negative things Trump's policies have caused, like the massive additional debt we have taken on. - Dan G
  11. I agree this is an election stunt. Someone at the White House, however, is purposely trying to change the language around illegal immigrants. All the Fox talking heads and WH surrogates are now refering to them as invaders. Which happens to be one of only two exceptions the Supreme Court carved out for birthright citizenship under the 14th amendment. - Dan G
  12. No, he'll blame millions of illegal votes and George Soros. - Dan G
  13. How, exactly, does that work? How is the Progressive Left profiting from the migrant caravan? Have you considered that the caravan will likely benefit Trump candidates at the polls next week? Maybe Trump is the one paying them to march. - Dan G
  14. Yes, and she chose a charity that helps Native Americans. I can't imagine an independent observer not seeing the egg on Trump's face over this. An honorable man would have said, "I still think her Native heritage claim is BS, but the plight of real Natives is important to me so I'm paying anyway." But honor isn't in Trump's DNA, not even 1/1024th. - Dan G
  15. 90sec? Seriously? The red light went off after 90sec of the pilot looking for a hole and you assumed that what he really meant was to turn on the green light? Were you at a special event for deaf and blind skydivers so you were unable to ask if it was okay to exit, or stick your head out and see the clouds? Your story sounds fishy. I suspect you got a punishment that not only fit this event but took into account past behavior. Anyway, if it were my DZ and it was a first time offense? Sit down for the day and talk it over with an instructor. If there was a repeated pattern and failure to take responsibility, then you'd be shown the door and other local DZs would get a call warning them about you. - Dan G
  16. I went to Arizona for vacation a couple weeks ago. Flying into Phoenix I was surprised at the lack of rooftop solar installations. Maybe 1% of the houses had them. Maybe it is the upfront costs, since many of the neighborhoods in the approach path to PHX looked to be lower cost. Once we got out of the Phoenix area toward Flagstaff and Page it seemed like almost everyone had some form of solar installed. - Dan G
  17. You clearly don't understand what "playing the player" means. Oh wait, I commented on your understanding of the phrase, "playing the player." Was I playing the player? The "ball" in this case was people bitching about USPA without providing ideas to change things for the better. Bill said you were an example of that. He was playing the ball. - Dan G
  18. And the loudest bitchers don't have any actual proposals to fix the problems they perceive. - Dan G
  19. And they'd have to find another unashamed partisan who thinks there are no limits to presidential power. Remember Trump is trying to place a potential swing vote in cases involving himself. Brent's his boy, quite obviously. - Dan G

The article doesn't say he hasn't applied for VA benefits, or tyat he didn't try to get care at the VA. That's you making assumptions to fit your worldview that Democratic voters are stupid. - Dan G

  23. You can't assign a personality trait to a given individual, but I think you can observe trends. At least in the US, veterans tend to be politically conservative. They also tend to be more self-reliant, self-confident, and more stoic in the face of adversity. They also tend to be stubborn and defensive. I think these traits are due in part to training, and in part due to self-selection of the types of people who sign up. Of course, any given veteran could display all, some, or none of the traits I mentioned. Some vets are the complete opposite. Veterans are people, and everyone is different. And no, I don't have any scientific data to back up any of this. - Dan G
  24. Most of the people losing their shit over Kaepernick are not actually veterans. Veterans are usually tougher. - Dan G
  25. I don't recall if the UCMJ had any flag/anthem requirements. Service members don't enjoy the right to protest when in uniform. - Dan G
