Cheers for this,I do fancy Eloy or maybe Elsinore with a few visits to Perris to jump the jet or maybe ...................
  2. Hey all Appreciate the advice. Cheers and Blues
  3. Ok so I aint no aeroplane buff so I'm gonna ask, what's a Casa, never heard of one, tail gate ? While we are on the subject of aircraft, are there any DC3's still being jumped in the States ?
  4. Looking to cross the water and visit the USA in October for 3 weeks of jumping. First time in the states for both me and my Bro,anyone wanna recommend a DZ ? Balloon jumps & a skyvan would be a bonus. Cheers !
  5. Already done it. Naked 2 way on my 40th in Spain. Wicked Buzz
  6. Hey, just cracked my hundredth. Nothing fancy having turned up at a new DZ on jump 99 after a 3 month lay off but hey, I'm happy.
  7. The terminology 'Brake Fire' doesn't immediately suggest an unstowed brake toggle to a novice. Unstowed toggle says what it is. I've had one 'brake fire' on my Sabre 2 190.This was caused by my slider fouling both my toggles after I collapsed it ( second jump on canopy, first time I'd collapsed the slider ) and in doing so releasing one brake.I always pull at 4k so I had lots of altitude .I was doing a slow right turn with one flapping toggle and the other obscured by the collapsed slider.I realised that the turn was being caused by having one toggle released so my decision process was to free the toggle obscured by the slider by my decision altitude of 2K or chop.I managed to pull the slider down right past the brakes and was able to release the other toggle.Once both toggles were in my hands I had level flight, I also managed to get the slider behind my neck, end of drama.
  8. 1987, age 22 , did two static line jumps on rounds After an 18 year lay off I did my AFF in 2005 at the tender age of 39 & 9 months. worth the wait
  9. Some sunny day I want to dock on my brother as he experiences the thrill of a Tandem Skydive. He has some minor disabilities and I know that he will never be able to take up skydiving as I have ,so that fact that he can experience what I do by doing a Tandem.............well it gets my vote. I seen videos where skydivers have docked onto a Tandem Student.Anyone out there know what the criteria is to be able to do that ? *********************************** Fly Like Zie Eagle, Not Like Zie Chicken ! 10. Done most of my jumps out of the Porter at Lillo so I'll always have a soft spot for Wolfy Recently started jumping a Caravan. Out of the two I deffo prefer the Porter. Reasons. The seating arrangement.Being kind of semi circular leads to a better atmosphere on the way up.( apart from the back right rear corner because the jumper in front squashes you big time ) If your lucks in you get to sit in the reversed Co Pilots seat and you get to see everyone go down the Hill which for me is and always will be an awesome sight. It's got a bigger door than the Caravan and the step is a nice touch. I love the sound of the engine, especially on throttle back when she kind of growls. Finally, she's a fast bird just a great looking aircraft. *********************************** Fly Like Zie Eagle, Not Like Zie Chicken ! Good advice from an instructor I know.
  11. Hi Ya Pete. It's Paul who bought your Rig.
  12. Mike I'm heading back to SkydiveLillo in May and it will be my 5th visit in a year and a half which is how long I've been in this wicked sport. Nice people, safe people great DZ,two excellent Porters. The choice is yours
  13. At the DZ where I did my AFF as the story has it someone did 17 repeats on a level five. As far as I know they went on to skydive solo. Don't be hard on yourself. The biggest downside to repeats is the cost I repeated level five because I couldn't do two 360's. Slept on the failure and cracked it the next day after a good pep talk from my instructor. I look at it like learning to swim, once you can do it you never forget how. Try to relax and the rest will follow.
  14. Which airport in Spain are you aiming for ? *** Gatwick or possibly Birmingham to Madrid. Have a choice of either ( cheapest first ) British Airways, EasyJet or Iberia. One thing cracks me up though, most the airlines allow certain sports equipment on for free. This includes Hang Gliders and even Scuba Tanks. No mention of a parachute Rigs though. *********************************** Fly Like Zie Eagle, Not Like Zie Chicken ! Good advice from an instructor I know.
  15. I usually go through my EP's on my first jump of the day. My response is the same for all partial & total mals, look to Locate Red & Silver, pull Red, pull Silver. The thing is,this means that if I have a pilot chute in tow ( total mal ) I will cut it away. If I look for my handles when I'm belly to earth and reach for them to locate before chopping red & pulling silver I go head down which just feels wrong & it's the fact that I'm dropping my head to look that makes me go head down. On AFF on cutaway drills the ficticious mal was always above my head, streamer, line over etc, but never a pilot chute in tow. I know the answer is to be able to locate my handles on my belly without looking at them. I just wondered if anyone else had encountered this problem. *********************************** Fly Like Zie Eagle, Not Like Zie Chicken ! Good advice from an instructor I know.
  16. Anyone flown from the Uk to the rest of Europe recently ? With the hand baggage restrictions can anyone recommend an airline that is Skydive Rig friendly. Most appear to want to charge about $120 each way and check it in the hold *********************************** Fly Like Zie Eagle, Not Like Zie Chicken ! Good advice from an instructor I know.
  17. Did my AFF in Lillo and loved it. Always busy in the summer. Fast pack jobs, excellent instructors. Two well punchy Porters. Obtained my USPA B licence & FS1 out there, started jumping at Langar England a couple of months ago & had no problems whatsoever.I am coverting my USPA B to the BPA equivilant without any drama. There are several people from Langar who I regularly see in Lillo including at least one BPA instructor so there is a connection between the DZ's Although Lillo did experince problems earlier in the year with the facilities being closed I believe that they are back to their best based on feedback on the DZ section of the site. Going for my 5th visit in May 07 so that says a lot for what I think of the DZ
  18. *** Were you jumping naked? That might affect your fall rate and what you consider to be a comfortable opening *** Not on this occasion but I did a two way once. It was absoloutely wicked. I just made extra sure I grabbed the risers on opening to absorb the shock *********************************** Fly Like Zie Eagle, Not Like Zie Chicken ! Good advice from an instructor I know.

  20. I know this has been covered in previous threads so soz folks for bringing this up again but if anyone wants to direct me to those threads please do. Jumped my sabre 2 190 ( First Rig
  21. When I've paid for my house in a year or two I'm gonna quit my 9 - 5 job and get my AFF & Tandem rating. Then I can work for peanuts in Spain, but I'll be paid to jump instead of the other way round. Ok so i'm 41, but to me this would be a good way to live, after all, if things didn't work out ( and I've no illusions that they will ) I will always have my house which I paid for with my 9 - 5 job. Whatever happens,it's all good.
