  1. There is a HUGE difference between spanking a child (which is what I meant by "beat her ass") and brutalizing or abusing a child! Yes, I believe in spanking children. I spanked my daughter as a small child when she misbehaved. Now as a young adult, she is well behaved, for the most part (she is still a 16 yr old girl with an attitude) If parents don't teach their children how to behave when they are young, then you get the types of kids like you see in this video. How should the situation in the video have been handled? The girl refused to listen to the teacher, refused to listen the the "administrator" and refused to listen to the officer. Should they all have just given up and ignored her like nothing happened? This is a serious question, that I would like a serious answer to. If you ignore this one, how are you supposed to control the other kids?
  2. I've always had faster openings with psycho packing. There is nothing wrong with it, I have just noticed I have always had faster openings. Learn to propack it and see if that helps at all. I also like to roll the tail pretty tight to slow down openings.
  3. I have a 16 year daughter, and if she was acting like this in school, I would shake the cops hand!! I would then proceed to beat her ass when I got home. She knows this, and knowing this, she doesn't act stupid.
  4. You are correct, you can't say one way or the other if he pulled the handle or not from this one frame. I would think, if he hadn't pulled the handle, you would be able to see at least part of it still sitting in it's pocket. It could be completely covered, but my guess is that he pulled it and is at arm stretch in this pic.
  5. 10.6 posts a day for over 13.5 years
  6. I liked my Suunto for tandems, but didn't really care for it for swooping. It has a little lag time. I wore it with my N3 and was consistently behind.
  7. Skydive Walterboro, in Walterboro, SC. They have been running for at least 35 years and this is where I learned and jumped for man years. They have a great staff that is super friendly.
  8. I think soft helmets on students is fine, I don't like the idea of hard helmets on them. Helmets for the instructors is a good idea as well. I saw the aftermath of a double riser slap that almost ripped the TI's ears off! Literally!! He had to get stitches to "reattach" both ears. I worn atleast a soft helmet ever s
  9. Skydive Walterboro, in SC. They have been in business for at least 35 years, and it's were I learned.
  10. leave the husks on, remove the silk, but instead of water I like to use melted butter, garlic and salt
  11. I wish there was more video of the approach! Did he actually set up to land sideline to sideline, or did he get bumped around in some squirrely and get forced to land that way? If he set up and planned that landing, then that's piss poor planning and execution. If however he was doing what ever he had to do to save his ass....then so be it, we all know shit happens sometimes
  12. I like Chuck's (converse all stars), not a lot of padding but a nice smooth sole. the lack of padding should help them dry out faster.
  13. Did you sign the contract? I am assuming you did. I would speak to a lawyer if you haven't already. I have been asked to sign one, and I refused. I really don't understand why a DZO thinks he/she has the right to force someone to sign one of these no compete contracts, if they are treating you like a contractor and not an employee. Here is a thread I started about the subject awhile back. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4609057;search_string=DZ%20with%20contracts;#4609057
  14. The Suunto watches work pretty good, but do have a little lag. Not a big deal but some people have an issue with that. I have used a Suunto and it was fine for tandems, but don't really like it for everyday fun jumping. They also don't have the data logger. For a good everyday alti, I use the N3. I like the fact that it's rechargable, so I don't ever have to worry about batteries, just keeping it charged. I usually charge it the night before I head to the DZ and have used it all weekend without having to recharge it. I hear the Viso is good, but I have no first hand experience with one.
  15. I've got a MC-4 that I use for demo's. The chest strap and belly band have nothing terminating the end of the strap. It looks like the straps were just cut with a hot knife and left that way. The chest strap isn't unusually long or short, but the belly band is very long, so i don't think they have been cut by just anybody, I think they were originally like this.
  16. I've used the SS grommets and grommet tools from sailrite on #1 grommets, but havn't used them on anything bigger. They seem to work fine(I'm not a rigger though)
  17. I've never been "blown off the road", but I have had trucks "push" my vehicle before! Especially in smaller cars and on motorcycles. I can defiantly see a truck with a camper that was to heavy for the truck or improperly balanced getting "pushed" and then loosing control due to sway.
  18. Not sure what kind of truck you drive or are used to, but I travel I-95 a lot thru NC, SC, GA, and Fla. I usually set my cruise on 80 or a little over and get passed by 18 wheelers ALL the time. Or should I say used to, you don't see it as much anymore. I assume this is because of the way they are tracked and governed now. Not so many years ago though it was not uncommon to have a big truck go flying past you even if you were going 80+ MPH
  19. YES!! I am trying to convince the wife to let this be part of our next trip. We were talking about going to Machu Picchu anyway. So I might be able to work it in
  20. I was on the ground at bridge day 4 years ago (i think) when the wingsuiter hit the water. I was maybe 250ft away from where he impacted. You are right, that is a very disturbing sound!
  21. broke mine about 5 yrs ago... and I do mean broke it! i have an X-ray somewhere of it, the end is/was completely broken off and kind of floating :/ I was back to jumping the following weekend, but it took a good two years to stop hurting, and it still gives me trouble some times. I'll see if I can find the X-ray and post a pic :)
  22. Let it cure for at least 20 days, more would be better. Just because you can walk on it doesn't mean it's cured! Since you can't pressure wash it, I would get a floor buffer with a stiff brush and use that to clean away any loose material. Then sweep and vacuum as necessary before tiling.
  23. Not sure if this has been thought of (I'm sure it has).... How about just getting a label off a canopy that closely resembles your and sew it on. I'm sure everyone will still know that you built it, but can they prove that you didn't buy it?
  24. thought you were asking about me
