  1. your just worried its going to show to the world that you keep your wingsuit photos in c:/porn/ponyplay/wtfomg/chicago16way.jpg arent you?
  2. I'm pretty sure good clouds on your first few jumps doubles the likelyhood you'll take up wingsuiting as a regular thing.
  3. I had a monarch for awhile. did great as a wingsuit rig, always opened stable, never slammed me while wearing a wingsuit (got it once on a freefall jump but I must have been sloppy, as it was usually good) I've since moved on to a pilot that I love, but for a first time less expensive canopy i had no problems with it.
  4. its not even that the stealth isn't a great suit cause of such a big wing (though thats a valid argument) To me the angle of the mountain made a big suit have to be flown arched with feet up, didnt seem to be needed (at least looked that way from some of the slow mo footage, and the cams pointing back at his feet). I like watching the proximity flying where guys are busting it out toes pointed. This felt a bit more like flocking anyway still a cool vid, insiprational views, and definatly would be cool to be there.
  5. alright having flown both suits heres my attempt at a comparision. Both suits are great suits, after flying both there are things about each that I like in their flying capabilities. Overal I like the tbird better, but I guess each to his own. Personally I feel where the phantom is better is in acro. Because the inflation is a little looser its easier to shut down for really snappy barrel rolls (its not flappy, it just not as solid an airlock, which helps acro) I can bust out a super straight crisp barrel roll easier in the phantom. Its still a great suit and there is no flock I couldn't keep up with in that suit, its also hella fun for twisting turning down the side of a puffy. At breakoff (which is a funny name considering its usually when people actually get closer to fuckaround) I dont feel I get the same lift or drive from the phantom that I do with the tbird. I dont have gps numbers, just have been busting past good flyers more often in the tbird than I did with the phantom. (I do know I get slower downward speeds in the tbird, and yeah here goes the 'thats cause its a draggy mattress blah blah, but I'm hitting those numbers while passing flyers maxed out in the air, so to me it feels like it has plenty of forward speed) For the tbird, it feels like a lighter wing (maybe due to the stronger airlock?) and settles really stable into a flock. Theres a few ease of use features I really like, like the time to put on a rig, and long booty zippers. and the beer stash pouch/zippers. For flying when 5 grand comes around and everyone goes to smack around purple mike before proving what a ninja they are, I feel I get an easier time busting it out in the tbird. In the end each to his own, I'd reccomend flying the suits. Personally I felt like the tbird was a kind of phantom + 1 which was a great balance in what I was looking for. Its super easy to flock or puffy surf with, but at breakoff I can laugh a little harder when I fly past other people bustin it out. I'm tall and skinny so I could flock in an acro, its the end of the flock max flight that I'm loving in the tbird (phew, now that internet text has proven my in the air badass ninja skills we can move on) I still throw on the phantom and bust it out, but with the whole super precise formation flying we do if you want to be on the records, you kind of have to find one suit you like the best and get good at it, for me thats the tbird. take it how you will
  6. The travel day from hell and I'm still not there. Had two flights canceled. 2. Hours stuck on tarmacs and they lost my luggage ( the bag with my wingsuits. Hopefully it goes better tomorrow. I get in around 8am should be to the dz by noon. Hopefully they'll have found my bag by then.
  7. Is there any shuttle options to the dz? my flight gets into boston at 7:30 pm on the 11th (tues) anyone getting there at a similar time?
  8. Wouldnt that only pertain to the video/work Matt sold Discovery? If I buy 1 video or photo from Matt, does that allow me to take any photo he's ever taken, and digitally remove the watermark to promote the show/thing that I produce? Matt, was the image in question sold as part of the package to Discovery? edit: on second thought, I highly doubt thats the case as then discovery would have provided the unwatermarked image to the paper. It's not small claims under *any* circumstances. One small example, removing a digital watermark is a violation of DMCA, an automatic felony. Small claims court is never a venue for copyright, as copyrights are governed by, controlled by, and determined by acts of Congress and the Congressional library itself. Copyright law is far too complex (usually) even for District courts, and most copyright cases will make it at least as far as a Circuit Court of Appeals. In fairness to the newspaper, Discovery, and Matt, it's entirely possible that the release signed between Matt and the Discovery production company allows them the right to reproduce the images for promotional value (which would be entirely common). In other words, while the situation may suck, it also may be legal.
  9. haha you turn in the direction you twitch your moustache (1:46 in the first vid) A few... http://www.vimeo.com/5455490 http://www.vimeo.com/5454846 I was a bit surprised how steep the learning curve was for me on this suit. While I'm very comfortable with it, I still haven't got it 100% nailed. Tips: Don't overtension the arm wing. Light grip on the grippers, yet keep them pulled out to shape the wing. Roll your shoulders and lead with your elbows (like the V2). Put some outward (wide) tension on your feet. That's what's working for me, but I'm still learning.
  10. couldnt find it on the canadian discovery channel. somebody post up when its online.

    new t-bird

well I finally added a second suit to my collection. I have the scary feeling this is going to become a habit. Looking forward to some flights tomorrow. cawCAW
  13. I'm going to recommend at this point that you spend some time searching the forums and making some calls to local dropzones. Search out the information your looking for as this forum is a huge database of info (with a search function). If you cant find the dedication to use some work on your part to educate youself in an area you have a lot of interest, you might find its more work than you're interested in, long before money comes in to play. By all means ask questions on the forum, as most people here are happy to help out, but a lot of these topics are covered 200 times over. In the process of attempting to learn the answers to your questions, I guarantee you'll find answers to questions you didnt even know you had to ask.
  14. I'd love to be able to attend, but I've got a couple other events planned and that max's out my vacation time this year. sorry to hear about spot's crash, looks like he'll miss his own event. heal up quick!
  15. I think that question is answered pretty easily watching the video. No where in there does he look comfortable or controlled, and his second deployment shows him veering right then left after unsuccessful pull attempts, only to flip on his back and go head down during the third. I cant believe anyone would look at that and think its intentional.
  16. is the brave one the one that looks like a first flight student trying to pull, or the one flying above and behind an opening wingsuiter?

    Fun video

I've been doing tests on this for awhile as a way to reduce shake while useing slightly longer lens' as I've some mind to do some cg and compostiing with wingsuits in the future. cool to see someone else experimenting as well. my problem is that there are very few wingsuiters around here so I dont get as much time to find subjects to film, other than sharking tandems under canopy. 18. the P-51 was the first plane to be designed to use laminar airflow. However research data shows that they werent manufactured with enough surface quality to maintain laminar airflow on the wing. We fall quite short on the smooth wing required to achieve or maintain laminar flow
  19. boogie was great. thanks to Scott C, Justin, and Scotty Burns for coming out, I know I had a great time, and a few from down south were impressed with the canadian space shuttle. We filled half the plane on most loads, and though varying degrees of rust was shaken off by the canadian pilots, I think everyone learned a lot and we got some nice flocks in. Looking forward to the rest of the season. I know Scotty got some good pics so I'm sure there will be some evidence of a good time. --i can ride my bike with no handle bars
  20. getting ready to pack, and watching the weather. anybody know if there is camping at the airport? I sold my van (probably bad timing) and am coming up with a car and a tent. Dont really feel like putting down for a hotel when I'll be jumping all day long.
  21. I'm heading up thursday night so I can get jumping all friday. Just got my reserve repacked and have been playing with the new suit. cant wait for this.
  22. you just like any exit where you can pretend your sitting side saddle on a pony
  23. I think you being the king of the d/l might automatically disqualify you from a place in the course. You might have to unwillingly relinquish that title if you're to take a proximity flying course.
  24. will the otter be flying loads on friday the 15th or getting there on friday? trying to time my drive up.
