  6. True! Buy later, not now. But work on getting your visa now, not later.
  7. Press on! This is the kind of thinking and DOING that has value.
  8. Good post and question. I do see some flaws but it's mostly in our body position. Most of the time it's when we fly with other people. Not flying with other people gives us the freedom to become a cleaner wing. I am guilty of poor body position when flying with others but since we all don't weigh the same and aren't as short or tall as one anther we have to make adjustments. This is mostly were the flaws come in. If you notice photos of people flying in a group or not you can see the lack of a clean wing from the bottom of the container to the tips of the toes. Were talk'in "bent legs". This isn't a desirable wing shape and it doesn't create lift. This is caused by strain, laziness, distraction or not knowing the correct body position. The arm wings are close to an efficient wing for what the human arms have to deal with. Improvements can always be made. I believe a good or better leg wing is in the future for all of us. Sometimes the manufacturers have to come up with changes to improve your game. Take golf equipment as an example. The changes over the years have allowed us to hit the ball farther and straighter. Time and imagination will give us the improvements down the road. Currently I am working on a smoother less distorted top skin for the leg wing on a new suit that I'm building. I guess I'll see after its done. Being an old bastard, I was there when ram air canopies first came out. Improvements were made to to get the damn things to open semi consistently. After the manufacturers cured this problem we thought wow! is it possible to improve this design. Yes
  9. The weather in late june is 75-95 degrees. Nights are fairly warm that time of year. Probably the best time of year to visit is late MaY to late September.
  10. http://www.garmin.com/manuals/eTrexVistaCx_OwnersManual.pdf Pages 75-79 (jumpmaster setup). Bulky at 4.2"x 2.2"x 1.2" although some of my altimeters have been twice this size. Looks like a nice all-inclusive tool. At least jumping made the function menu!
  11. The competition event "descriptions and rules" have been completed. The registration form is also now available. For all of those who wish to receive these WORD documents may request them by emailing me at [email protected] This information will also be available soon at scaryperry.com If you wish to use Aeroprize as your travel service within Russia they now have a price list that offers a per day rate that can be easily calculated. The more people you stack into a room or airport pickup the cheaper it gets. They can provide services to independent travelers also. This price list can be sent to those who are interested. A very limited number of rooms are available at the drop zone for $10 US per person per night. Tent camping is $5 US per person per night (includes facilities).
  12. Today we received a corporate sponsorship. This funding will put some nice gps receivers in our hands. Garmin will release some new models January 16th. The model EDGE 305 is advertised to acquire sat signals in 1 second in hot mode. This model is under 4"long. The other is the Forerunner 305. It will be available in February. It too has the new "sensitive" signal sensor in it. It is a wrist watch style. Very, very tiny!
  13. Costyn, take your phone. The Russians are providing us documents for GPS units. Maybe it is best not to bring them in individually. The person that has sponsored units will receive the special travel documents. You must declare the units upon entry and exit. If you don't and you are stopped for an inspection, and you are not showing the unit on a declaration form, You are suspect. Use your head!

  15. We will do what we have to do in order to get you there. The Russians just made this MI-26 proposal to me last night. I am waiting for the confirmation on the schedule. We will annouce the confirmation as soon as we receive it. Once again, it was their proposal. In addition, the MI-8's will be there also.

  20. There will be an artistic event during the World Wing Suit Boogie and Competition. That event will be the "Roller Pigeon" There is enough interest now to add this to the competition. We don't want this talent and hard innovative work to be left out! This event will be an "unlimited maneuver sequence". There will be one rule and that is deploying at a safe altitude. TBD. This event has no limits for a team or individual. They will be competing against each other. One against two, three or more, it's the performance that counts. The participants must use there own videographer. The videographer will be considered a team member and will be awarded accordingly. The judges will be instructed to take the video framing quality into account. The event will be scored by opinion based on entertainment value cast by vote. This event is to show case what hopes to be a glimpse of our future in wing suit competition. We're walking, we're walking, we're running, we're running, we're flying!
  21. FEFE Yes the pilot is in charge. If you see Rosov and Alex Rubinshtein tell them they must come to defend their title. See you there?
  22. 111 You are right on every account. No you aren't being critical. I think I share the same frustrations. Thats why I'm trying to start somewhere. This will be the second competition that I have ran in Russia. I went to school on the first one by recognizing judging flaws. Ya know... when just one competitive round gets scrapped because of a judging error or the accuracy of that judgment is in question, it effects everyone involved. Everyone. If I were to receive registrations from organized teams (fliers and camera person) I would include a artistic event. If... the camera person was unable to frame the team so that they could be judged clearly that team would score a "zero". If there are teams out there that are at the judgable level that have the skills to be scored by a jury by June 22, 2006 an artistic event will take place. At THIS moment the two events planned would be considered classics. They will be done at a lower altitude than what we are used to. This will make each flight on each round judgable for each participant. The events will be racing and distance. This objective of the competition is to enjoy, meet new friends, learn, exchange ideas and grow. This is why we are encouraging even our newest fliers to join in. I am sure that there are a couple of teams that no one has heard of practicing out of some old broken down Cessna in some small village or town that is going to take us all by storm. I can't wait for them boys and girls to surface.
  23. Don't worry Jarno I'm a tank too! 6' 200 lbs. Thats why we're having different weight classes for the competition! No excuses now... PS we will have our place in the big-ways too
