  1. Thanks for the reply Not finding any of the "EIS" versions out there, what would the recommendation be for a camcorder now?? I really don't want to go the GOPRO or Contour route as I am not overly thrilled with the quality. I don't want to waste money buying something that will not be suitable. Thanks for the help!!
  2. OK so I have been searching the forums for info on a camcorder and it appears that the cx110 or cx150 are the way to go, looking at amazon there are HDR cx150s available. Are these the same as cx150s? Are they suitable for skydiving?
  3. You used the pre-second word......sounds like BEER! to me Good Job, congrats, now have fun and have it SAFELY!!! Blue Skies and Stand-up Landings!!!!!!
  4. Hey John Remember Cort's Pink jobber? You could see him a mile away. Blue Skies and Stand-up Landings!!!!!!
  5. Derek I too have "Fallen" for my Mirage container. I have a Mirage G3 with all the goodies and couldn't be happier. The fit is great, it works great and it is so much quieter than my old harness. Manifest would make fun of me 'cause they could hear me walking from a mile away. (I used to shoot back: I'm old, it's my hips squeaking, I need to get them oiled, leave me alone) Now I just walk on by and get on the plane. Have fun!!! Kevin Blue Skies and Stand-up Landings!!!!!!
  6. Quote Early 40's?? I've seen fewer crags on the face of 200-year old mountains! Quote Hey Kevin, didn't you mean 200 MILLION year old mountains??? Blue Skies and Stand-up Landings!!!!!!
  7. Count me in, (I hate having to wait until the N's). Brian Brown also will be there. I am working on Larry Holbrook (but he's an old fart like Greg and won't give me a definate) See ya' on Friday!! Kevin Blue Skies and Stand-up Landings!!!!!!
  8. What size would that illusion be???? I am going to get a CX7 later this year, but you put your set up in a good price range we can talk!!! Kevin Blue Skies and Stand-up Landings!!!!!!
  9. Well at least you didn't say "In the toilet with the seat down" I will take your advice flushingly!!! Thanks Kevin Blue Skies and Stand-up Landings!!!!!!
  10. About time that grouchy old fart got him a canopy worth a hoot. Watching him carrying around that Leonardo Da Vinci wooden frame and canvas thingymabobber was funny!!!!!! Fusions RULE!!! SEE YA IN APRIL!!!!!! Kevin Blue Skies and Stand-up Landings!!!!!!
  11. Interesting?? I think its......FUNNY. I guess since I spend my Army time jumping out at.........wait for it........ 1200' ........ Now thats really scary!!! I love H&P's they give you time to play with your canopy!!! Great job!!! Kevin Blue Skies and Stand-up Landings!!!!!!
  12. How do you mount your camera directly to the helmet? There is only one mounting screw, wouldn't that make the camera prone to rotational movement? I was thinking about the box because I am a tall dude and I know myself, if I didn't put the camera in a box I would smash it up . Blue Skies and Stand-up Landings!!!!!!
  13. I looked real hard at the MXV, but the top mounting surface looks really small and if I put a camera on top it would present a lot of snag points. Blue Skies and Stand-up Landings!!!!!!
  14. Since you buyin for everyone, I wont get that CX7 I have my eye on, Ill get a FTP and a still camera instead, if you want I will pay for shipping (HAHA). Blue Skies and Stand-up Landings!!!!!!
  15. Matt I was looking at B&H and couldn't find the one you listed in your post for $125. The cheapest one they had was $250 and didnt look at all like the pictures in your post. I will check out Doug's link and that may be my choice. Thanks for the assistance!! Kevin Blue Skies and Stand-up Landings!!!!!!
  16. Since I have not seen a 5050 in person, just pictures, it looks like it would hit the helmet if the box was mounted to the helmet. Maybe I am visualizing the box too far back on the helmet? Would you recommend the royal over the 5050? I am open to modifying my choices, especially with "Expert Guidance." Thanks Kevin Blue Skies and Stand-up Landings!!!!!!
  17. DSE Come out to VA and I WILL HOOK YOU UP!! I was thinking about the flat lock because the 5050 looks huge, maybe I wont need it. Would you recommend the Royal instead? I was thinking the 5050 due to the 600 line resolution. This is why I ask questions before I buy stuff. And who better to get answers from that you and the gang here in this forum!! Thanks Kevin Blue Skies and Stand-up Landings!!!!!!
  18. I have spent all weekend reading and searching posts (too damn windy to jump) but still have questions..... I think I have a system that will work but no one in my area jumps it so I really don't know. Here are my thoughts. Optik Illusion helmet. Sony CX7 with Raynor 5050 Cookie CX7 box top mounted with liquid flatlock. My mentor in NC recommended the helmet but couldn't comment on the camera selection. I would like to get the CX7 so I can use it both for skydiving and for vacation shots. I have a Sony 60" HDTV that should show off the vacation shots real good. I have settled on the camera due to the HD capability, good enough reviews, and it can be used skydiving. My plan to learn to fly it is to keep talking to my mentor via e-mail and to hook up with some video flyers here for the next six months or so. (I wont be getting the camera until May). I am planning to buy the helmet now and jump with it to get used to it and to play with the cut-away (on the ground). I am not looking to shoot tandems or students, but want to record some of the scenery around (and above) the DZ. My questions are as follows... 1. Will all this fit together and work... specifically the cookie box, liquid lock top mount, the CX7 AND the 5050 lens? 2. Is top mounting the way to go for this system... the box is 3" and I think I may have issues with riser slap if side mounted (top mount was highly recommended in some of the posts I read). 3. Can I use the 5050 lens with the CX7... I can get the lens in a 37mm which should fit.. has anybody used this configuration? 4. Is there anything else that I need to buy that is not obvious... i.e. extra batteries, mem sticks, camera "maintenance kit", (jump tickets for mentors) etc..etc... As I said above, I have spent all weekend looking through this forum and Gear and Rigging and have read all of the safety posts, CX7 posts, helmet posts (there are some cool looking helmets out there), wide angle lens posts, editing software post...... I just need to tie everything together before I buy something that wont work or do something ignorant. Thanks. Sorry for the length of post... Kevin Blue Skies and Stand-up Landings!!!!!!
  19. How cool was that!!! Ya got some good chops there, thanks for the video. Made a long day end very well!!! Blue Skies and Stand-up Landings!!!!!!
  20. Dennis See if I am translating this correctly: Categorie VI (wingload&sqft = ongelimiteerd, >1000 sprongen) ongelimiteerd=unlimited? Very interesting link, thanks for sharing that. I learned something!!! Hope you hve as much fun looking for a canopy as I did. I tried a lot before buying my Fusion. I believe L.O. said it best, Demo until you find your soul mate!! Take care Kevin Blue Skies and Stand-up Landings!!!!!!
  21. Any reason not to consider the Fusion? They are a blast to fly, open very nice and have great flare power. I have owned two and it is a great canopy. Kevin Blue Skies and Stand-up Landings!!!!!!
  22. OHH-OHH-OHH Put my vote in for Vigil!!! (HA-HA) I have had both, and both are fine products. I currently have a Vigil, (I sold my old rig with my Cypres) I was in the right place at the right time and got a very-very good deal. I have confidence in it and that it will work if it needs to........HOWEVER....... I do not rely on it for anything! It is just there. I rely on my training and my ability to save myself, AAD's are backup devices to you and your ability to save yourself! Have fun and be safe!! Kevin Blue Skies and Stand-up Landings!!!!!!
  23. OK, I have had my X-mas present since the 14th of December and today I finally got it in the air!!!! I spent the day doing Hop and Pops to get a feeling for it, and boy does it feel RIGHT!! I have held off bragging about it until I jumped it. Now I get to brag!! What a nice canopy. It opened great and flies like a dream. Flat turns are just that, Flat. When I yanked down on the toggles, I went for an e-ticket ride and when I went to 3/4 brakes it was nice and quiet and still turned very well. I spent a lot of time playing around flying as slow as it would go. Talk about FUN. Heres to good weather next weekend so I can do round two and take it to altitude!! Blue Skies and Stand-up Landings!!!!!!
  24. "If you are married and take up skydiving, you will suffer from AIDS." (Airport Induced Divorce Syndrome) Me, after I sold my golf clubs to fund my skydiving habit!! Blue Skies and Stand-up Landings!!!!!!
  25. Justin I have had two Fusions and love the canopy. I tend to like to fly like you, bust it up top then bring it in for a nice soft landing. The Fusion has been really good to me in that aspect. The flying up top is responsive and fun and the landings have been the best out of any canopy I have jumped. Demo one when you get the chance, I think you will like it. I have tried the Sabre II (got spanked on opening)and owned an older Safire (took forever to open) so I decided to get the Fusion. I bought a Fusion 170 that was lightly used last summer and just recently sold it so I can get a brand new one (my x-mas present!!) Thanks to Dr. Steve I can actually get the thing in the bag. I have packed it five times now and all have gone well for a brand new canopy. You cant go wrong with it and like you said, it costs less so you can jump more!!!!! If you need any more info PM me! Have fun freezing your butt off! Hope it gets warm up there soon so you can jump! Kevin Blue Skies and Stand-up Landings!!!!!!
