  1. Rigger likes Dingos. He does not chew them up. He has one each night before bed and then it's in the trash. He will not chew one more than once! He's picky like that!
  2. Fill the tub up to the point that the cat can't touch the bottom. Use a very mild baby soap..Good luck!!
  3. What great news!! At home!....only Sandy!! I hope you all are doing fine and I can't wait to see a picture! Ella will be the BEST big sister ever!

    Have you ever?

Posted something you are not sure of?? I just posted a "Happy Birthday Jeannier" thread and it occurred to me that Jean told me her birthday was on the 28th...the 28th of what month?? I deleted the post...decided The Don would surely have beaten me to it if it was today!
  9. I had no idea. I have always used it to clean wounds, as did my mother. They keep finding out all this stuff is bad for us. It's a wonder there is anyone living over the age of 45! We were a reckless bunch!! I never even wore a bicycle helmet ! What will be next??
  10. I have never seen that, I love it!! I have been arguing with the higher ups for years. My argument is you can't buy people out of poverty. Unfortunately, unless you are in absolute poverty, there is very little available to assist you if you ever need a hand. The funds that could be used for such are instead used to support people.

    Dog Allergies

Scratch your nose, rub your eyes, and use a hankie !! NO WAY is getting rid of him an option!!
  13. I was a teenager in the 70s and long hair was really "in." A lot of guys had hair half way down their back. My highschool boyfriend had really long hair. If there were two men of equal looks, one with long hair, the other short....I would be drawn to the long hair!

    Do you smoke?

I think the difference is that when someone that smokes gets cancer, they torture themselves with the "if only I had quit, I might have been able to see my grandchildren/children become adults" thoughts. I do not believe that everyone who smokes gets cancer, my mother is testimony to this. At 85 if she does get it, she has lived a full and productive life, so yes, you have to die from something. I just want to do it as an old woman, and I think taking the smoking risk out can only help. I was terrified and very angry with myself for not taking things seriously and having the "it won't happen to me" attitude when I was faced with the possibility of having it. I never tried to quit until I did.
  15. I agree with you 100%. However, what would you do if your child was ill, you had no health coverage and no income saved to use in cases such as this? I would take mine to the ER since I know they do not turn people away as a rule. There are some people that are doing the best they can with the skills and education they have and they are not able to save money for emergencies. Some people work for minimum wage and have a couple of kids to take care of. They often earn just enough to be above the eligibility limits for Medicaid. Would you suggest they cut their hours or quit their job? This happens, and they do just that because they feel like it is the only answer...and if it is not the only answer, please give me another one, besides finding a better job, and I will pass it on. I work with this population. I am also in a rural area and there is not much in the way of jobs. The local WalMart or Food Lion will give them a whopping 25 - 30 hours weekly...no health coverage, and those are the good jobs.

    Do you smoke?

I quit smoking in 2000 when it was discoverd I had a "shadow" on a chest xray and had to have it redone. My then 13 year old was terrified that I was going to be diagnosed with cancer. He asked me what they would do to me "lung transplant?" and when he woke up he said that he wished he could just keep sleeping because then he would not worry about me!! He was 13. I tossed the pack and have not smoked one since, that's not to say second hand smoke has not been sucked into my lungs! But perhaps that won't kill me. I hope I never decide to smoke of my own volition again. I also hope my children do not end up with problems due to the second hand smoke they have endured. Most people I know that are smokers are very courteous of the non-smokers around them. This is a fairly new trait. The urge to smoke is so great that it will often outweigh ones consideration for the health and well being of those around them. It is a terrible habit/addiction and I sympathize with those that suffer from it. I am more tolerant than most, that's my nature, but I don't like to be around someone that is not considerate with their smoking. I have to remind myself to separate the person from the smoke. My mother is 84 years old and still smokes. She is also in good health. I hate for my kids to be closed up in her house when we visit, but I won't stop visiting. She is from "back in the day" and she believes that what she does in her home is her business...and I guess she is right. She does not smoke in my house and I appreciate that.

    Collectibles

I also collect Christmas ornaments from places I visit. It is fun to go through them yearly. I purchase one special santa figure each year too. I also have quite a collection of antique plates.
  18. There is a whole segment of the population that is overlooked. If you are living below 130% of the FPL you can qualify for Medicaid for your children. If you are below 100% of the poverty level you may be eligible to receive Medicaid also. This is great even though there are annual limits and some states are now charging a surcharge for Dr. visits and drug costs. 2.50 to 6.00 for doctors and .50 to 2.00 for drugs is pretty cheap. If you are not within these limits, and even if you are in the limits but childless, you are not eligible. Many employers do not offer healthcare coverage and some do, for astronomical fees. Therefore, these people have no coverage and are denied the care that those of us that have insurance or Medicaid are able to access. This is a travesty in a country as such as the USA. No one should be denied medical care or receive sub-standard care. I don't have the answer, but there needs to be some way that the working poor, that are making barely enough to pay childcare and housing costs, can have decent medical care.
  19. My ex-husband sent me flowers on what was our anniversary. It was a tough day because we remain friends and care about one another.
  20. I am now current, the 1st is my birthday, and the King Air will be flying 45 minutes from home...what more could a girl want!!
