  2. I think if you look at the skydiving/basejumping market, there is little to no good/functional gear designed by people who arent skydivers/basejumpers themselves. By the people, for the people seems to be the only way in which a manufacturer can place themselves properly in the shoes of the user, and allow them to see the functionality the user wants/needs. At least for most of the gear, that statement seems to hold true. And like you say, for a company like Recon its probably a fun PR thing, but in terms of sales probably not even 1% of their other targeted markets. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

  4. The FlySight has quite a few advantages: You retain 3D vision, no occluded vision in one eye. No need to zero in altitude. Cheaper. Faster refresh/logging rate. And in general. Its interesting to know your glide ratio. but with the ever changing windconditions the same flight will always vary in results. So the only real usefull data during the flight is, is my glide improving or getting worse. And just having the audible feedback on the flysight does that. The Recon goggles have a huge 'cool' factor, but in the end, the only practical info you get from it, is 'is my glide improving or getting worse' with each change in body position. And for that, the smaller and easier to use Flysight is more than enough. Plus you get the fun extras on the flysight (Flying blind, aiming at a GPS location) which is awesome for blindfolded 'find the crate of beer' running games on the dropzone during winded out days. Because you'd never jump through clouds where you cant see the ground! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

  6. Hi Bealio, Just shoot an email to [email protected] and Ill try and help you out asap. Robert is in the factory 6 days a week, so emails tend to get answered in one batch at the end of the week. But for urgent matters, shoot edo, macca or myself (an email, and we'll be sure to help you out) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

  8. Hi everyone, We're organzing a wingsuit camp in Hungary (Europe) this June. We are aiming at experienced pilots capable of flying a slot for the duration of the jump. During the week we will be doing dynamic jumps with point flying, variable angles, and 3D formations. For those with friends/girlfriends in other disciplines, we also offer quality/expert freefly coaching. Push your skills in 6 days of dedicated coaching in a small group (6-8 skydivers). All jumps from the MI-8 helicopter. We only do 5 jumps each day (trying to improve on the same dive plan) to maximize briefing/debriefing and creating challenging dives for everyone with maximum focus. The camp is 1350 Euro all inclusive The package includes - lodging at the DZ in a 2 person room - 30 bad-ass group jumps - 3 meals a day - 1 beer per jump (preferably after jumping) - transport from Budapest to DZ and back For more information and registration, check the website or facebook JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  9. In a skyflyer3 its more than doable to make jumps past 2 minutes. Most flocks these days barely make it to the 2 minute mark. With a bit of manly flying, you shouldnt have too big an issue (depending on where and with who you jump). JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

  11. With agility and manouvrebillity being the #1 asset on the V4, of course its safe to say the V5 will not trade in any of those abilities. Robert has updated the suit in a way that keeps the same qualities but pushes performance and steering one step further. We're shooting a short introduction video showcasing all the updates and changes this week in Slovenia JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  12. We'll have more info on the web soon. But basically we're getting a dramatic increase in performance (speed/distance) with the same size, but different design/shape/profile of the wings/suit. In short, its like the V4 with an afterburner installed. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  13. Fly both suits exactly the same. Be smooth and small with your inputs. Always keep an aerodynamic shape and dont break/push with bent arms, bent legs or hanging knees to fly. A good 200 or more jumps on a wingsuit is recommendable before moving to a V4. And when moving a good number of skydives with practice pulls and general practice in learning to handle the bigger wing. But the key is, work with the speed and be smooth. 14. The V5 has a lot of changes relative to the V4, but all of them are in the cut, wingshape and aerodynamic side to make the suit more agile. Its not bigger than the V4. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  15. Fully agree there. Dealing with unstable moments in flight the wrong way is not a flat spin. I personaly have never seen a person or video of someone in an actual flatspin. I have seen people adopt a shit (fetal/asymetrical) body position that results in tumbling turns. When you can fly your wingsuit in any orientation, up, down left and right. Thats the moment you can progress to big suits. Or stay with the small ones and have fun. My FlatSpins video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3OGvwrDDi0 You dont need nasty spins and cutaways to deal with big suits. You need flying skills, and you dont get those by spending money on nylon. You get those by spending money on jumps. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

  17. an RSL or skyhook is a choice. but with the negatives mostly being based on 'I think that..' and the postives based on 'we've seen that...' I do know what I choose. On my rig you see a connected RSL (skyhook) on every skydive I make. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  18. Curious wording in the press release Starting a new company (birdman® seems to be a different company/trademark than the previous Inc. and Oy. version? But perhaps Im missing something) with a kick in the back to former working partners seems like an odd thing to do. The jeans, underwear and belt buckles didnt seem to work that well, but interested in what the watch may bring to the market... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  19. Ok..5:18 so far...anyone wanna sponsor me a suit? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  20. Thats by design. The zippers are intended to have the ability to slightly open up to allow the rig to ride up on deloyment or on sitting etc. If the zipper would be locked, and the rig would push against it jump after jump, the load the zipper will take over time can start to damage the suit or MLW itself. So its intended to 'give' a little if needed on the backside. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  21. Hi chris, shoot me or edo an email at phoenix-fly and we'll make sure we fix the issue (without cost) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  22. I dont completely agree with the finer control on the Ghost vs the Havok. I can fly a lot more precise on the Havok. The Havok is a bit more agile than the Ghost die to the different armwing shape. The Ghost is a small step above the Havok in terms of performance. In terms of pull, the Havok is a lot easier (no material in the way) and when transfering to that suit the deployment will take less effort. Respecting the recommended experience levels on the PF website is for sure a wise thing to do. Making sure you can do more than just fly in a straight line, and do a lot of barrelrolls and frontloops (to learn to deal with less stable body positions) is a good preparation.
