  1. First of all, it wasn't an attack. It was a call to Jarrett to pay attention. He stated that 2/3's of his post turn into grilling towards him, such as this person. There is a reason for that. I am hoping that he can see it for what it really is. This goes for anyone else that feels they are flamed on a regular basis. When everyone is telling them here on this site that what they are doing is stupid, unsafe, irresponsible, dumb, aggressive, not safe, too early, ect, ect, ect......there is a reason for it.....and that reason is that they already heard it at their own dropzone. They are just looking for blessings here, and when they don't hear what they want, they can easily brush it off without the fallout of being "that guy" at their own DZ. I apologize if it came across harsh, but I really dont have much patience with it anymore. i just tell it how it is, here and in person. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  2. I couldn't agree with Freefli more. The reason you are getting flamed is because you have no business doing what you are doing. Now I am stating the facts here: You have no idea how to correctly build a deadly spaceball...but that doesn't concern you much. Based on your video, you have no control of your body in flight, especially when you are trying to catch the ball. You almost smashed your face into the ball while trying to "catch" it. Why are you the "ball master" when your jumping with someone with 800 jumps? You can't even realize how lucky you are to get the ball back at the end, then you throw it again and lose it. Absolutely fucking retarded. And the worst part of all this is: Now pay attention Jarrett.... you refuse to honor anyone's opinion or advice of jumpers with thousands of jumps of experience, because you think you know it all. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  3. Not even close ... Look how much swooping has evolved these last 5 years. The best has yet to come.
  4. Take your anti-American shit to the Bonfire, where the rest of the opinionated people spew their verbal diarrhea. And just a thought, if you going to slam a whole country, try to sound educated and use a spell checker next time. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  5. I have had the pleasure of spending several hours with those guys, Jason and Derek especially. I did the basic drills for them for the first couple minutes, as I already had some time in Perris, and in a matter of 30 or so minutes I was off the net on my head on my own. Now, remember, when you start this....you beat the crap out of your instructors...and I never hear them complain. Well...maybe a little. Over my next couple visits there, I am to the point where I am able to transition in both directions, participate in a 4-way, and play around just like I was in the air. Those boys helped me immensely with the small things that you dont even know your doing in the sky. I am a much more refined flyer because of it. Tdog......now that's an advertisement. Don't like it? Turn your computer off.
  6. Hey everyone, So this weekend is the second CPC Comp at Skydive Oregon. I will be heading down on Friday morning to set up the course, so hopefully I will get down there somewhere around 2pm to start the task. If anyone is planning on coming down on Friday as well, I could really use some help with lining up the gates in the pond. I will be in the water putting the course markers in, but it really helps to have an eye outside assisting with the layout. The comp fees are going to be dependent on materials used, think between 5-10 bucks, and the cash purse fee is $25 per head for winnings. Please have this amount before the comp starts. Last time I talked to Theresa at SDO, we were able to crash in the new trailers that are heated and A/C'ed. There is also a bathroom and microwave in there. So bring your mattress and a sleeping bag. Make sure your reserve is in date, SDO are anal with this and wont let you slide. USPA is a must with them as well. I would like to have our safety meeting with a course walk starting around 9am Sat. morning. I hope to see you all there, as this more than likely will be our only comp over a pond this season. It's time to drag water bitches! Brad ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  7. Hey Karen, When I mounted my stuff, I based the line of sight off of how the still mounted. Since there is no vertical adjustment when you mount this, you are forced to change the centering of the video camera. I did this by using 3 screws on the box in an upside down triangle. Basically I started with a hole at 6 oclock and the other 2 at lets say 10 and 2. The upper holes is where I get my adjustment by doing the following...after you drill thru both boxes, put the top 2 screws in the helmet alone, then the bottom screw thru the camera box and helmet. Then swivel the camera box to the right and the left while adding some pressure against the d-box to force the screws in the helmet to make a scuff mark on the back of the d-box. Take it off and dremel out along those scuff marks to give you a way to swivel the box on the helmet to adjust the vertical line of sight to match the center point of your still. Use oversized washers on the top swivel mounting holes to keep the box secure. Also, find the CG of your camera and try to match it with the CG of your helmet when its on your head. You can lessen the snap effect when you have a hard opening. If all of this doesn't make sense, meet me at the DZ on Thursday and I will bring my dremel so we can get it mounted for ya. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  8. Not quite sure yet....we'll have to see if we are even having a 4th event. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  9. As far as I know, since Andy has been sponsored by Red Bull, he has had a very busy schedule with demo's and events surrounding the Company. When he's at home, hes busy building up the new Kashelton. He did compete with us last year at thier dropzone, but he more than likely will no be going to any other CPC's, as he's a Pro pilot and doesn't really have a need to swoop in anything other than the PST....if he does that even. 10. What Tara? You didn't think Smiley was sexy in those camo man-pris he made? He offered me those before the longer ones...no way will I wear em. I would have massive left calf rash right now from those downwinders all day. Did you by chance see Smiley's left calf? He got some serious rash last year down at SDO, and he still wears em. Heh, must think it'll help him...... Oh, wait.....was that a Katana that kicked the crap outta him on Sat? SNAP! Best thing is, I was wearing his other long pants........and if he see this...I'm sure that will be the last time. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  11. Call Julio at Liquid Sky, or email him. My experience with him on communication was excellent, if not perfect. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  12. NW CPC Event #1 Event 1 was held at Skydive Snohomish, Wa, where the core base of the NW CPC is located. The weather was overcast for most of the day, with a ceiling of around 8k until after the event was over. Almost all of the jumps ended up being downwind, with a couple having a crosswind component. These conditions led to some challenging set-ups, hilarious accuracy slides, and several video reviews of the entry gates. The first round was speed, and by no big surprise, Tom P. smoked the course with the fastest time of 2.13 on his JVX 2.0 96’. 2nd fastest was Craig Smiley on his Xaos 88 27 cell, followed by Brad H. on his Katana 107 with a time of 2.77. Due to a series of verts and blade strike penalties, speed was awarded to Tom P, Brad H. and Craig S. respectively. Trying to beat the increasing winds, accuracy was next. Unfortunately, the winds were directly downwind for this event, and the set up was to determining factor on how well you scored in this round. All competitors made the gates, and put down early to try to prevent from sliding into the negative zones. 2 competitors put down in zone 1 and ended up in zone 7 when they finally came to rest. The highest combined score of 138 was given to Brad H., which was a major factor in how the final standings played out, followed by Craig S. with 75 and Bryan J. with 56 points. Definitely the toughest event of the day, with only 2 competitors scoring in the second round. Everyone was looking forward to the distance rounds, with many competitors going just shy of 400’ the day before in practice. Tom P. once again went the farthest with a 388’ and 392’, followed by Daniel O. of Toledo with a 299’. Only 2 verts took place on both rounds, which was a difficult set-up with changing down and crosswinds between rounds. The event was a very successful one, due to the great family of jumpers here at Snohomish that all pitched in with course set-up, scoring, judging, and tear down. Most of us went up for a full altitude tube jump to finish the day off, as we are all freeflyers as well. Skydive Snohomish allowed us to manage the event well, and provided us with a Cessna all day to 4-5k. Thank you Tyson and Elaine. Here are the final results: Tom P. 449 JVX 2.0 93 Brad H. 425 Katana 107 Craig S. 246 Xaos27 88 Bryan J. 217 Xaos27 118 Daniel O. 199 Velocity Tara W. 57 Katana ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....

  14. I will more than likely be arriving at the DZ around the 2-3pm range. I thinkin the course will take around an hour to set up. See ya then, B. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  15. Friday, whenever you show up. No, really, I plan on setting it up Friday afternoon. If you would like to come out and help, that would be awesome. The more help I get, the quicker we can practice on it. Let me know, call me. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....

  17. Ya know, I wasn't going to even reply, as it seems more of a masochistic thing to do here on this site.....but I haven't hated myself for a while...might as well get some time in. Here goes..... I call Bullshit. Vegas Flyaway is not a tunnel that anyone that wants to spend their money on working on their freeflying. Now this is not a slam in the least to the Vegas tunnel, its just fact....cold hard facts. It is an older tunnel, slower speeds, with less horsepower, and does not resemble any modern tunnel in operation. Slower tunnels teach shitty body position, that does not translate into any useful positions in the sky. You have to lean back very far to get lift, and that hinders the position from taking grips in any meaningful way. Lets forget HD altogether. Unless you are Grisham, and weigh 120lbs dripping wet, its not a wise way to spend your money as a skydiver with goals. Tunnels are for flying your body....not flying a suit. I just got back from the CO tunnel again and had this conversation about just this thread with some of the guys there. Now keep in mind...this is not trash talking, just facts... The guys in Vegas buy time in the Co. tunnel to fly HD. When was the last time you ever heard of an instructor spending money at another tunnel? Dude...it just doesn't happen, unless you can't do what you want at your own tunnel. This doesn't make the Vegas tunnel obsolete, but merely not the best tunnel for skydivers that want to freefly. In my opinion, its a whuffo tunnel. That doesn't make it bad, in fact, its probably more profitable that tunnels at actual DZ's due to is traffic. Its all comes down to profitiability in the end. I can't think of a better place to have a tunnel for tourists than Vegas. But when it comes to advertising to the skydiving crowd, I feel its not wise to lead people to believe that they can do whatever they want in the Vegas tunnel, as they could in, lets say a modern Skyventure tunnel. Just my opinion. Based on my own experience in 3 different tunnels, and from statements from several experienced tunnel instructors. Take from it what you want. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  18. Hey, We are in need of some judging at our events. If you would like to participate in either filming or measuring our pilots on the course, please let me know. The first event is on the 26th of this month. Were talking about +/- 4 hours of time....no big deal. It would help us out alot. Thanks, Brad ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  19. There is a shuttle, but its like 50 each way. Hitching a ride with someone is the best way on a rental. If you hook up with Sunny, just make sure Travis isn't driving. Or Greg Chopiuk for that matter. Especially Greg. Trust me. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  20. Well, I WAS going to be doing 450's this season, but since it got to such a crappy start weather wise, and I've only done a handful of them so far....I'll be sticking with the 270 again this season. Next year will be a new thing for sure. As far as testing the speeds of the KA at 2.0...if you have contacts with the right equipment, I would be happy to do some testing on the behalf of KA owners for some peace of mind. Let me know, or just give me a call. Later. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  21. I agree and disagree. If you cant tell how long something will last by looking at it, you don't know what to look for, or just don't have the necessary experience. That is when asking people about it comes into play...but that is fallible as well. Not everyone treats their suits the same. Some people swoop them on their ass, and tear them up, while some others treat their suit like I do and take very good care of it. Some people do 100 jumps a year and have no problems with suit A, and another can do 500 jumps a year and wear the same suit out in a season. Does that make the suit a POS? Not really. So asking people over the internet, which suit is best, is really a waste of time. Just like anything else...you can expect to get what you pay for. If you do 100 jumps a year, perhaps the low quality of a Kurupee suit will do you fine, but if you do 500 a year on that same suit, while swooping every load, its going to fall apart. Same with a high end suit like Liquid Sky. If you only do 100 a year, it will last for a very long time, but only maybe 2 years at 500 a year. Picking the best suit for you needs is very much more involved that how it performs for others. You need to learn about clothing construction and how it will stand up to what you plan on putting it thru. Its all subjective and objective, neither of which translate very well across internet pages. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  22. Not an attack, but, why would you buy a suit based on what someone else says....especially from a person who sells them? Seriously people....what ever happened to good ol fashioned self education? Find out what kind of fabric holds up well to what we put them thru, which manufacturers double and even triple stitch, does the fabric wick moisture, does it have stress relieving elastic panels, and perhaps most importantly....how good is their customer service? Inspect all of the suits that are out there by them inside and out. I'd bet if you went to a big DZ on a weekend and you will have the opportunity to look at every one made.... Don't ever buy something just because everyone else does, or tells you to. It's just stupid. Let the product sell itself. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....

    ordering suit

Baggy is hard to fly, as it can make using your flight surfaces difficult to utilize. A key to getting the drag you need without the balloon suit is the type of fabric your suit is made out of, and how many layers it has. More layers equals more drag without the bagginess. Also, ZP tunnel suits give you more lift than lets say a Taslan, or Supplex fabric. Ever seen a ZP suit that was baggy? I haven't (not saying there aren't any), but its rare. Also, one more thing to add.....baggy can lead to bad habits and body position, learn to fly your god given body at an early jump number without handicaps, and you will be better off in the future. (That's coming from personal experience and several hours in the tunnel fixing it.) ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  24. Ian, Hey. I'm loading my KA 107 at just under 2.0 now with lead, and I am really interested in what my vert. speeds are with 270's. At my first 270 with that increased WL, there was a noticable difference in ground rush and speed. Did you recall what your speeds were when you were jumping the KA with that WL (if you ever did). Whenever I am doing H&P's, its off, but its sometimes very difficult to resist the swoop on altitude jumps when the Cypres is on. I'm up for a new Cypres in the next couple years and plan on selling mine before its dead to offset a new one. The big question here is to go with Cyres2 or Speed Cypres. Keep in mind, I will not be jumping a KA at 2.0 forever....at some time I will be moving to a Velo. ps. Mass Craptrometer Phat Analyzer. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  25. Nhuard, In true form, you cant always trust what you read here on this site when it comes to advice. Here are my experiences with both canopies as an owner. Xifre will open much nicer and be more predictable. Katana has much more dive than the Xfire. Katana will go further at the same loading with the same techinique, Every time. No question. The Xfire has more bottom end, no question. Much more end flare and pop. This is where the Katana suffers comparatively. Alot of people have said that the Katana is a Velocity that lacks the distance and bottom end. This is coming from several that have owned both. Chat up Ian Drennan on here..... Do a search on these canopies and you will find alot of info, and you will find what I have stated above over and over. Of course, you could just demo both and find out what you like. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
