  1. Now that's just downright un-American right there, Bill. You take that back! Oh, hello again!
  2. My local Walmart does not sell guns, but I'm in Houston. The ones on the outskirts might. They do sell plenty of ammo though! Oh, hello again!
  3. Yeah, it does. Taxing corporations means the end consumers just fund the tax. It's not smart unless it's done honestly... meaning politicians say, "hey, we need money so we're gonna tax company profits," instead of pretending that some great social justice will be done by taxing profits. I think corporate taxes should be lowered to bring more business here. As for Palin's plan, it worked... FOR ALASKA. Why? Because the oil companies didn't only raise taxes IN Alaska. Don't confuse me with someone who will not criticize "their side". Oh, hello again!
  4. So when a guy is caught in the act, you still think he's innocent? Here's one for you that may help you differentiate much of how you think vs how I think: People are innocent or guilty of a crime before a judge makes his decision. Or, do you not believe that innocent people can be FOUND guilty of crimes? Oh, okay, got it... so all that arguing about death penalties killing innocents was purely argumentative and you didn't really mean it. So are you for the death penalty now? I don't actually believe you reserve your judgement until a court makes a decision in every case, but you sure pretend to! Oh, hello again!
  5. A New York version of "horrible"... say it... it's fun! Oh, hello again!
  6. What is good is that you've apparently missed that giant whoosh going over your head. I don't need a court to tell me when the dude on videotape is actually guilty of a crime, or that when a congressman has $50k in cash in a freezer that he's up to no good. Kallend repeatedly claims that we (paraphrasing) should all shut up until the court makes a ruling. I guess OJ really didn't do it then. And to your out of context quote... he voted for taxing profits of oil companies more, in spite of the fact that it would do NOTHING to lower prices and would in fact increase prices. Here's the quote for anyone who cares... http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3236280#3236280 Oh, hello again!
  7. You haven't said anything about perjury or something like that? I won't waste my time, but you have called him a liar many many times. How can you do that in good conscience without a conviction in a court of law? Harrible! Oh, hello again!
  8. Bashing someone before a conviction, which you don't like, is assuming guilt. Calling them corrupt, dirty, etc. The whole premise of the second thread is that he was one of the corrupt politicians before his conviction. Remember, you bash Bush. Bush has not been convicted of anything in a court of law. Without that conviction, he's completely innocent in your eyes, right? Oh, hello again!
  9. This is becoming more common in general on many issues. The only thing you can do is educate people honestly. I took a liberal shooting this weekend. She hated guns and was just waiting for one to jump up and assault her. She walked away thinking that it was pretty damn fun, especially the AR. People market to the lowest, largest common denominator to push their agendas. They're easy, cheap votes. It's much more difficult to really educate people, especially when one side is trying to do it right and the other is spouting propaganda. Oh, hello again!
  10. "You all" did? http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2902104#2902104 http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2958323#2958323 Oh, hello again!
  11. Or like politics in general... Oh, hello again!
  12. To be fair, he did say "guideline" and "should", not "law" and "must". Much like our BSRs. The age limit on skydiving comes from a liability standpoint and the fact that people under 18 can't legally sign away rights in most places. That is an example of self-regulation due to the threat of monetary loss in the event of a lawsuit. Seems to work. Oh, hello again!
  13. You still cannot make laws that will protect people from themselves. We can't just take everything that might get someone hurt and make it illegal. I know that you as a pilot and skydiver would argue that ridiculous laws and lawsuits have greatly hurt our ability to keep our hobbies from becoming prohibitively expensive. Oh, hello again!
  14. You simply cannot make laws to give people common sense. I always wonder why so many people want MORE laws, MORE legislation, MORE things they cannot do because of a very few stupid people. You just can't protect people from themselves, laws or not. The desire some of you have for punishment in this case can be solved in civil courts. That motivation seems to work better than whether or not something is illegal. Oh, hello again!
  15. No, those don't come in emails... they're on CNN, MSNBC, etc etc. Think big! Oh, hello again!
  16. That is awful. I feel horrible for his family. That should never have happened and I think it was irresponsible to put a fully automatic weapon in an 8yr old's hand. It is unfortunate that instead of blaming incredibly irresponsible judgement by adults, people will blame the gun. Oh, hello again!
  17. It's just as ignorant thinking that he's a muslim terrorist as thinking he's the next savior and sunshine will flow forth from the capitol if he's elected. I think the ignoramuses on either side will cancel each other out. Unless, of course, Obama wins... then there were clearly more on that side.... Oh, hello again!
  18. I'll post again since I've been away and haven't seen the news nor the family since I posted. Clearly, the report has been found to be false. Now, as a conservative, I again will state that it really makes me mad when people "on my side" do this kind of thing or do things to hurt the image of what conservatism should be. It's stupid and it never helps. As someone who knows the family, I worry about the girl and hope that they handle it well. For sure they aren't very happy about this either. I haven't seen them since this hit the news so I don't know. As for the back and forth about blaming Obama etc etc and now blaming McCain for it being false... stupid. Obama didn't do it. McCain didn't make it up. This should show us the problem with news stories from any side (or even incident reports). How easily can false or falsely embellished stories make the news? Most people don't automatically assume that everything they hear is a lie. This is what happens. My comment about how it is ironic that a criminal would be an Obama supporter is a reference to the thread where illegally registered felons were mostly registered as democrats. If I hear anything that can be posted here about the situation, I will. Otherwise, I just feel really bad for the girl and angry that she did that. Oh, hello again!
  19. This person's parents frequent our DZ. I will go on the assumption that this is real since we know the family. We're all glad it wasn't worse. Who would have thought that a criminal would prefer Obama?? Oh, hello again!
  20. I didn't allege anything. The cartoon merely showed how the media went crazy when a few attorneys were fired under Bush but nary made a peep when Clinton did. So if they can clean house at the beginning, why can't they do it ongoing? Those attorneys serve at will of the president. Nothing illegal was done. The media did, however, get excited in one case but not another. Oh, hello again!
  21. What's the difference between firing people who you think won't cooperate you and firing people who won't? Yes, I see a difference. Clinton stacked 'em up so he didn't have to fire them later. Oh, hello again!
  22. I denounced Bush? Where? Where did I say Palin was unfit to be president? It actually might be nice to have someone who's WAY outside of Washington running things, and a non-lawyer to boot. I also disagree that McCain is 90% Bush, but the party line rolls so smoothly off your tongue. Keep it up. I realize you're just parroting. Unfortunately for you and those who think like you, I have to vote for which of the two would be better going forward. Abstinence from voting and a 3rd party are not a realistic option. I think your attempts to frame McCain as "senile" are pathetic. More parroting of the far left lines. I think going into Iraq was something that needed to be done eventually. How it has been handled? That is where I differ from the current policy. Lowering taxes? Hasn't been done enough if you ask me. Get rid of capital gains and corporate taxes. Bring investment and work back to the US. What else can I help you with? The REPUBLICANS hurt themselves by not sticking to conservative principles. It just made it easier for those who try to appeal to the lowest common denominator blame them for the country's problems. Nice analysis on Obama and Palin. That just shows how elitist you are and your general disdain for someone more like the average citizen. You don't want change, you want your politician in there. You don't like the idea of someone from outside getting in. Why? Oh, hello again!
  23. I think most conservatives definitely have problems with McCain. Much more than democrats do with Obama. Maybe it's all the hype and marketing around him, but it really does seem like no one from his side really criticizes him. It just seems a little dishonest to me. I disagree about the experience... I, too, think I'm voting for the better of the two. I'd just prefer two even better candidates. Oh, hello again!
  24. I'm not sure that made any sense. But I'll try to respond. I will vote McCain because he is not Obama. I think McCain has many flaws that I REALLY don't like. I think Obama has way more. See, I can and will criticize republicans in whatever office when they do stupid things I don't agree with, like voting FOR the bailout. Will you get all over Obama when he screws up? I think Bush has made many mistakes and it makes me mad that his being a republican has hurt conservatism as a whole. I think Palin is pretty damn wet behind the ears. I think Obama is just as much so. I do think that for the party that claims to be for "the little guy", you sure do have problems with a "little guy" getting into office. Oh, hello again!
  25. I think that some of the individual reporters do lean a bit left. Some are pretty straight up stickin' to the facts. Usually, when I feel like there's a bit of bias, it's more along the lines of what they're reporting on rather than how they're reporting it. But it really does depend on who's reporting. Oh, hello again!
