  1. This is directed to those of you who have had a spinal fusion or similar surgery (Lumbar to be specific). How much time had passed before you made a jump after having surgery? How did it go, feel?
For those of you who had more serious surgeries in the spine, please chime in as well.

    Thank you

The adrenaline speeds your metabolism up so account for that as well. It could cause any recent insulin you have given yourself to metabolize quicker, leading to a low.

Very important! It's easy to give insulin to lower your level but much harder to raise when you are not equipped. I'm sure that you know this but always carry some form of sugar with you.

I have been a type I Diabetic for 36 years and when I am at the dropzone I always have a small bag of sugar cubes on my person at all times. I also let my blood sugar level run a little higher when I am jumping and I always test my level 20 minutes or so prior to loading the plane.

  3. I am outraged.......................for not reading this sooner so that I could buy a ticket or two! I haven't supported anyone but myself since my last divorce. I want to support the team! When is the next raffle???

  4. Thanks for the replies. I'm starting to think it is this site as well. I switched over to Firefox about 2 weeks ago and thought that I had noticed the reloading problem about a week ago, but wasn't quite positive. The page loading works fine when I visit Craigslist. Oh well, I'll just keep resorting to the button on top. Thanks again.

p.s. I do notice a faster page load with the manipulation that DS8221 has recommended. Thank you.

  5. Thanks G & T, but I've tried that already. You can set that one to reload every few seconds or whatever you wish, it's quite annoying to have the page flicker every few seconds or whatever you set it to. Thanks though. I'm trying to find the solution where the page reloads when you visit that same page again. I'm stumped.

  6. I've recently switched from IE to Firefox and I like it. I have found that while on DZ.com the page does not refresh every time I visit it. For example, When I visit a forum from the main forum menu, read some posts, then go back to the previous forum, it does not show that that I have read certain posts. It works when I visit Craigslist, but not on DZ.com. I've typed ABOUT:CONFIG in the address bar and changed the frequency number to 1 under (browser.cache.check_doc_frequency), but doesn't work. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

  7. Two weeks ago I arrived home and turned my computer and police scanner on. As I was just getting ready to log on to Dropzone.com, a dispatcher was alerting the officer of a "RP", (reporting Person) that had just called in to report a skydiver that was landing in a field by her residence. I continued to listen for the outcome but heard nothing more other than the officer was going to visit the location. Why was this woman calling to report? Maybe he had a huge rifle with him, who knows? Even though you may be following all of the rules, don't think that the cops won't show up due to a witness reporting it to 911.
I live in Bellingham, WA and I hope the jumper got away without too much harassment, if any.

    Many dz have many AADs...

If you include Vigil and Argus the document would be complete

OK, how about this one? (attached)

p.s. I excluded the military version of the Argus, I don't have a clue as to how to illustrate all of the variables on that one!!!

  9. My original objective was to have a one page reference for remembering purposes. I guess that you really only need to remember the numbers for the particular model or device for which you are using. Anyway, I thought I'd throw it out there for someone who might find it useful.
I've attached a new one with a few changes.

    Have fun out there!

  10. I took the information from the Cypres site. I may be misinterpreting the info, so I thought the yellow area in the chart would cover that interpretation.

It activates the release unit when it detects a rate
of descent higher than 29 mph (13 meters per second).
The activation altitude is split. In the case
of rate of descent being approx. that of free fall,
the opening altitude is at approx. 750 feet (the
same as with Expert CYPRES). However, should
the rate of descent be lower than that of freefall
but still above the limit of 29 mph (e.g. with
partially opened canopy, or after a cutaway), then
Student CYPRES activates the release unit when
the altitude falls below approx. 1000 feet (approx.
300 meters) above ground level. The student will
then have more time to prepare for landing

I have read other posts regarding this information. I am not quite sure where the 65 mph is derived from?
Could you help me with that equation? I'm here to learn.
    Thanks

  11. I received an email today with the following statement.

He had just bought a new boat and decided to take her for the maiden voyage. This was his first boat and he wasn't too sure of the procedures.

He consulted his local boat dealer for advice, but they just said "don't let the boat trailer get too deep in the water, but deep enough that the boat will float”.

Well, he didn't know what they meant by that as he could barely get the trailer in the water

    You're gonna love this guy!!!

I argued with someone who thinks that the pic attached below is actually real. Is this just a real good Photoshopped image or am I gullible in thinking that nobody could be that stupid??

  12. Fleggaard Holding A/S, through its subsidiaries, markets electronic appliances. The company specializes in selling televisions and radio sets.
Fleggaard Holding is based in Krusaa, Denmark. Just across Germany's northern-most border with Denmark you'll find an incredible superstore called Fleggaard. There, you can buy everything you need – tubs of gummy bears, cases of wine,, industrial strength dishwashing soap – at prices 30% cheaper than you'll find in Denmark. It is Denmark's Costco, packaged as a German loophole.
You'd be hard-pressed to find a man in Denmark who hasn't seen and fallen in love with that commercial. It was geared strictly to men. The ad is real!
Here is a link to simply the best advertisement ever made. Honestly… it's awesome!
