  1. There are 57 pages of users on the CK BB... The list of users with zero posts is 56 pages long... I'm in the IT field... And I tried to register from different machines, using different Emails, (w/ no firewall or spam blocker) etc... There is a problem there... I know many people on those 56 pages of "zero" posts, and we all wanted to post but never got a confirmation...
  2. Can't wait, any special discounts on Hotels ? Like with BW last year ? PS - There is a problem with posting on the CK BB, just look at the member list - All those people with zero posts are people who never got a confirmation email...We all would like to post there, but cannot.
  3. Just to show PJ's great spirit, below is a post Re: New Tandem Instructors... Re: [steveorino] New Tandem Instructor -- any advice guys? [In reply to] Quote | Reply -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (PJ's AKA darnknit's Reply...) here's what works for me: from the boarding area until we have left the landing area NOTHING is more important in my life than my students safety. second most important is that i do my best to make this day as special as it can be for my student. if you ever notice yourself thinking about anything except those two things you have not done your best for your student. rule 1 is mandatory, but i have had days where i forgot rule 2. i can tell you for a fact, the job doesn't feel like a job when you are helping the student get the most out of the experience. ______________________________________ pulling is cool. keep it in the skin (This post was edited by darnknit on Jul 6, 2006, 9:21 AM)
  4. Ok, after 800 posts I'm sort of confused - What was the real problem ?? 1) Did she cut away a perfectly good main? -Why? 2) Did the reserve have tension knots, with slider up, or was it a simpler toggle issue ??? Aside from all the media, money, gossip - BS, as a student I'd like to know what really went wrong and what should have been done to correct the mal or double mal or no mal ???
  5. Think about, At this point, A Tweed Jumpsuit WOULD be the Utlimate Attention getter...
  6. A newbie question - Why do most skydive jumpsuits - resemble clown costumes??? Really - as a newbie I'm jumping in jeans and tucked in shirts - And I'm looking to buy a jumpsuit - but is there some hidden "skydiver code" - that I am yet unaware of, that requires me to design my new jumpsuit with such an obnoxious array of patterns and colors so as to "fit-in" with the rest of you - who seem to have purchased your jumpsuits during a collective bad acid trip on your way to flunking out of clown college. Please let us newbie’s in on the joke... Unless the joke's on you… PS… Here are some "rationalities" I'm not buying into: “My multi-colored Clown/Jump Suit… 1. Allows me to "Stand-Out" against the Ground below me or the Sky above me: So would any suit of a SINGLE, NON - Blue/Green/Brown Color 2. It's easy to see my Grips: I agree Grips should be brightly colored - Against a suit of a SINGLE color - For Truly Quick Recognition. 3. Shows up better on Camera: Modern Color Theory suggests that quick visual recognition of any object is dependent upon clear boundary discernment. The process of boundary discernment for an object comprised of ONE CONTIGUOUS contrasting color is recognized by the brain MUCH MORE EFFICIENTLY than that of an object composed of many different colors. Let me make an observation from the standpoint of an “outsider”: The “Hey Everyone Look At Me” dynamic is equally entrenched in the personalities of most Skydivers, as well as it is with most Circus Performers. There is a Question I think every Skydiver should ask him/herself: Would I still Skydive If No One Knew I Did It…? I went through my AFP this past summer at a very large (promoted as the “Largest”) DZ on the East Coast, and found that so much of the activity of Skydiving was centered on drawing the attention of others to “the skydivER”, rather than sharing the experience of “SkyDivING” to others as a life-affirming activity. But what do I know – I’m sure I’ll get more self-centered as I progress… Yours Truly, A Center of Attention...In the Making...
