  7. I was aprehensive about jumping my own pack job too, and the day I decided to do it, a person that I really like to jump with showed up just as I finished it. he was always very helpful with teaching me RW, and I was so excited about getting to jump that I forgot that I packed it until after the jump and it was open. Just before I entered my pattern I was like, holy s*^$, I packed this. I had to look up again and check,
  8. I hate to break it to ya tink, but Clinton did not obtain a warrant everytime he tapped either. If that is what you truly think, then you yourself have fallen into the ignorance hoped for by the liberal media. ANOTHER CAN OF WORMS- Yes I am saying the media is also biased. Some to the right, but the overwhelming majority is to the left. You cannot say that you dont agree with that especially since they all choose to "endorse" candidates during elections. The liberal part especially and the liberals themselves are in a real panic right now. They are begining to realize that they are losing their support in the general population because they are showing their true colors now. Well, theyt have been since the elections a couple years ago but especially in recent past. Pretty much their only message right now is that they have no message. All they say right now is that what the reps are doing is wrong. You never truly hear any solutions to these "problems" that they point out. --------------- "Once you find a job that you like, you never have to work another day in your life"
  9. Here We go again. A topic revisted that I have touched on before and seems to be in the threads as of recent times. Gun control. For those of you that read my previous post on this topic, you obviously know my position on it, the name of it is "For the Same Reason I Carry a Reserve" (sorry I dont know how to turn that into a short cut but a search of that title brings it up , and that I havent been on here in a while so if what I write in this thread has already been brought up, I apologize.) Anyway, I am not writing this time to speak about why I should be allowed to carry a pistol or why those people who think I shouldn't be allowed to, should mind their own business. This is about something that has been nagging at me for a month or two now. Just a little more hypocrisy I have noticed. The recent story about George Bush allowing wire taps has the liberal's panties all in a twist (which before you anti-bush people start screaming, please remember this was allowed quite a few presidents ago, yes even your "Beloved Clinton" allowed the EXACT same type of tapping) The liberals and people int the media (radio talk shows, news paper editorials, etc.) say "well, if you are willing to give up the right to privacy, whats next? What are you willing to give up next?" I find it very amusing that they then turn around and try to take away our gun rights. So I ask them and those of you who think guns should be taken away, Whats next? What else will YOU want us to give up? And those of you that think the NSA is just wiretapping everyone and listening to casual conversations, the condition of paranoia comes to mind. Don't associate with terrorists, and you wont have to worry about your"privacy" being infringed upon. This mentality that we should not take action to protect ourselves from terrorists and the countries that support them blows my mind. Don't forget that the terrorists that attacked up on 9/11 were able to take advantage of many of these so called privacy protection laws to be able to hide in this country undetected until they attacked. Don't complain about one side trying to take your rights away (even though they arent, the liberal media and politics are scaring you into thinking that) when you yourself are doing the same thing. 18. Pretty much the way I look at that is, "Eat, Or Be Eaten". That rule of thumb can be applied in many situations, such as the people of the United States should stop acting like the super power that we are. We might as well just put ourselves one step further down the food chain. The current line of thinking, and I hate to put it this way but it is true, is making the people of the United States appearing and becoming a bunch of pussies. Don't beleive me? look what goes on in our childrens schools nowadays. They aren't "allowed" to play dodgeball anymore because it can be harming to other childrens feelings. Parents aren't allowed to punish their own kids without having to woorry about having their kids taking away from them. We are caring too much about what the rest of the world thinks about the US, especially since is anything happens to the other countries of the world (anyof them, yes including France) all they have to do is push the biig red come save me button and the UD will there in two seconds to save their ass. The problem is, we have to be a hard ass to stay a hard ass. This isnt a total one sided political issue either. Both political parties here are responsible. We have the democrats who are becoming over racially sesitive and the republicans who are trying to make descisions for parents by controling what we hear on the radio or see on TV It might sound self-centered and ego-tistical to others but, there is no-one, absolutly no-one in this world that could remotely be able to protect others the way the US does. You think it can stay that way if our children can't be properly socialized because fearing for others feelings? I dont think so. Humans are the superior species. There are no arguments, we are at the top of the food chain, we eat meant, veggies, etc. etc etc. There are no other animals on the face of the earth that are more worth a human life, not even the last exsisting one of a given species. If that species was down to the last one, then it just wasnt meant to be. (this doesnt include people who are criminally poaching) Yes humans can be destructive to species, but we also have the power to bring species back from the brink of extinction. Think any other species would have the ability to do that if we were extinct? No. You think the other species care about us? No. Therefore, I conclude we are superior, and animals just taste so damn good. Safe and happy jumping, Blue Skies!!! --------------- "Once you find a job that you like, you never have to work another day in your life"
  19. First off I would like to say that I apologize for the mispelled words and other mistakes in my original post, I was half dead asleep and on about 6 Jack n Gingers. Secondly, Trust me when I say that I am by no means a sucker. I just like to take advantage of having a place to "vent my angst" and hear other's opinions. Plus it is fun to "make fun" of the people who make me feel better about myself and my friends when I lay down to go to sleep at night and I can say to myself, "Damn its nice not to be a moron" Happy Turkey day all, safe jumping, blue skies!!!!!!!
  20. Ok, a lot of times, I usually like to keep my mouth shut about controversial issues, but this one (and others like gun control, etc.) I feel its time to speak up about. I saw on a news station this past week, a story about PeTA. It was about them publishing and handing out a comic book, I cant remember the exact name of it now, but it was basically depicting the "male parental unit" as being an avid animal killer if he likes to do things such as fish or hunt (this is issue number two, the first was against mothers who liked to cook chicken). The comic book contains graphic illustrations and states that your family pets are in danger because your daddy likes to kill fish, he will soon turn on and skin your family pets alive. They are handing these books out to children, some younger than 6. What I want to know is where do they (PeTA) begin to think that they have the right to alienate the family. I can't beleive that they have the audacity to communicate their exagerated crap to children at that age and basically try to turn them against their own parents. I dont care what you PeTA supporters think, I love to kill animals, I love to eat animals, and it makes my day pulling the trigger on my .308 with a big buck in the crosshairs, or fishing for mahi mahi, or going to KFC to get dinner, etc. etc. etc. Your obtuse beliefs that "animals have rights too" is (at least in my mind) complete bull shit. But you know what, this is a free country and you have a right to your opinion and I respect that. My problem comes in when you start doing things like this comic book, or picketing outside a KFC, Do you know how moronic you appear to be? Aside from the fact that you are made fun of, you are seriously looked down upon from most of the community, at least the intelligent part. Say what you want to, the whole animal kingdon is the same, it is a "dog eat dog" world, and NONE of your crazy pickets or comic books is going to change that. Lions eat meat, tigers eat meat, fish eat other fish, some fishe, tigers and lions eat humans, and we eat deer, shicken, tuna, ostrich, etc. Normally I try not to be so insulting of others just because of their beleifs (and I have some pretty strong beleifs about others things like guns, see post here "for the same reson I carry a reserve" that I made this past week) but you PeTAs are really getting (for lack of better terms) stupid. It is one thing to have your beliefs, but when you start targeting children in their developmental years when you can really make a mark on them with unfounded information, that is where I draw the line. It is ok to beleive that you dont think animals should be eaten, but you should not take that and try to impress on children who are for the most part defenseless and unable to think for themselves entirly. I truly do think that most of your tactics are very unethical and in the opinion of the better part of the community, stupid. Basically, leave kids alone. Voice your opinions, you have a right to, and I encourage it. Just don't take it to the point of obsurdity. (showing up at fishing tournaments and using snorkel and SCUBA gear to cut lines and scare away fish) YOu arent going to change our thoughts, you are only going to PISS us off and make us hate you more than we already do. Now, if you will excuse me, I am going to go sit down and go eat a bloody rare prime rib. One that came from some animal that lived its short life behind a fence just to go to the slaughter house and end up on my plate. Have a nice day!!!! P- eople for the e- ating of T- asty A-nimals Blue skies!!! Remember, it is a free country, you can say what you want, make what you want to out of your life, STOP trying to change ours, we have the same rights you do. 22. My "Essay" as you like to call it, is not BASED on a comparison between skydiving and guns. I just used that as one point in it to drive the point home that peoples argument for not wanting guns to be available to the public is an opinion that I beleive is influenced by the same source that makes others not want us to skydive..... The mostly (not all) liberal media I am not trying to say anything near the fact that a person carrying a gun is the same thing as carrying a reserve. Read the inital post all the way through before you start to make assumptions. YOu carry a reserve to protect your life, more weight, more room, cost for repack, etc. I carry a gun to protect my life too, and any other innocent person out there who has their rights infringed upon by some thug who thinks he has a right to rape, kidnap, rob, or kill them. that takes effot too- money, practice to be proficient, weight to carry, putting up with anti-gunners crap. But you know what, I love putting up with that crap, thats one of the things I love about this place- you are free to have your opinions and not worry about being thrown in jail. I like, wether or not they have the same opinion as me, everyone. (even if you are totally anti-gun or american etc) In my mind you all still have the right to life, liberty, freedom, and happiness. Anyway, Happy jumping and Blue Skies!!
  23. I do not know any definate as far as they will take time served towards the suspension, from what I can gather, they do. The other thing, the DA has not announced one way or the other about dropping charges or not (also as far as I know) but I do beleive that some of the case against him was based on the FAA findings, so since that has changed, chances are so will the criminal matter.. Blue Skies --------------- "Once you find a job that you like, you never have to work another day in your life"
  24. I am surprised that I did not get a bigger argument from the anti-gunners. Maybe they just havent looked at this yet because I didnt put their sin word "GUN" in the title. Anyway, If a criminal wants to get a hold of a gun for an illegal purpose, he is not going to obtain the weapon through legal means anyway. (purpose of waiting period out the window) That goes the same with the person who really wants to commit suicide, they will somehow find a gun, or some other way to kill themselves. Besides, get a Florida CWP, you dont have to go through the waiting period, even for a pistol if you have one. and for all you you out-of-staties, our permit is good in about 26 other states (give or take) and Florida issues them to non-residents. The numbers show it, proof is in the pudding, guns are NOT the problem. YOu take guns away from the law abiding citizens, gun crimes and other crimes rise - dramatically. I say to the anti-gunners- "Grow up, don't be naive, and if you are going to make an opinion, make an educated one. Not one that is just based on the liberal media, or warped stats from the VPC. People who are afraid of skydiving just don't skydive. People who are afrain of guns, just dont get one. Leave us and our constitutional rights to protect us, and possibly yourselves, alone. Thank you." Have a goodnight- blue skies --------------- "Once you find a job that you like, you never have to work another day in your life"
  25. Good evening everyone, I am a fairly new member to this website, I haven't initiated a post yet, however I have replied to a few. I mostly like to read what everyone else has to say, even if I don't agree with it. It's always good to at least try to see the other side of the coin. There is always a BUT, I absolutly love the fact that this is a free county and we are allowed to state our opinions about anything at anytime no matter our position, BUT I really cannot stand when these opinions are taken to extremes especially by organized groups such as PETA, ELF, VPC (Violence Policy Center-anti-NRA group), ACLU, etc. Lets go with the topic of gun ownership. Seeing how I havent been here that long, and I didnt do searches just to see how many times this has been brought up but it is a topic that I am very, I guess you could say, passionate about. I am a gun owner, I am a very active shooter (upwards of 500 rounds a week), I have a conceal and carry permit and I more often then not carry. How many people have I shot? ZERO. How many people have my friends who carry shot? Zero. What got me started on this was last weekend when I went to pay for my food at the DZ restaurant, the server noticed that I had what looked like 2 drivers liscenses in my wallet (FLs CWP looks like a DL) She then saw that it was a Conceal Permit. And it became evident very quickly that she was anti-gun when she asked "Why do you want to carry a gun?" I started to try to explain my answer but of course, it was like talking to an extreme left-wing democrat, you might as well be talking to a brick wall. This is why I carry a gun- I am going to start my explanation with a question to you, Why do we carry a reserve? You can still skydive with out on (NOT legally of course) it's added weight, takes up space, and costs money to have re-packed. PAIN IN THE ASS. But, it is a tool that saves lives all the time. Much better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it. Granted, not everone has to carry a gun, it is your choice. I chose to carry because, one, I think that I am mentally capable of safely handling that tool, and would have to ability to use that tool to save my life or someone elses if I deemed it necessary to do so, hopefully I will never have to use that tool for anything else other than target practice. One of the things that this server said to me was, "If I was ever in a life threatening situation, I know enough to talk or get my way out." I am sorry, but that is an extremely naive idea and extremely unrealistic in this day and age. Case in point, in a small city south of Daytona Beach a few years ago, A father and his daughter had checked into a hotel. (he had a conceal permit and was carrying at the time) Shortly after the got into the room there was a knock on the door and when he opened it, he was looking down the barrel of a revolver. The two suspects pushed him back into the room onto the bed, one grabbed his daughter and tried forcing her into the bathroom. What they didnt know, is that the father had his .45 under his pillow on the bed, the first split second that the guy who was watching the father looked away, the father grabbed his gun, shot both of the guys, killing one and critically injuring the other. How the hell are you going to talk your way out of that one? Any realistic ideas? I didnt think so. (the father was not charged with anything) There are many more stories out there like that too. What these anti-gun activists groups such as the VPC NEVER tell you are how often weapons are used to save lives. Contrary to their misconstrued beleifs, very few people who own or posses guns are not crazed maniacs that wnat to do nothing but go out and start shooting people. Just because you decide not to take advantage of all tools possible to have that last chance (just like a reserve) to save my life or someone elses. Just because you are afraid of guns, dislike guns, or dont want to own one yourself, why do you think you should have the right to take mine and every other LEGAL gun owners weapon away? Is it because, in your mind, guns kill people? Don't forget it still takes someone to make the descision to pull the trigger. Also, in comparison with the number of people who own guns, to the number of people who are killed by them, VERY low percentage. Much lower than the statistic of the number of skydivers who are killed compared to the total number of skydivers. Do you think that the government should make skydiving illegal? After all, it is something that we only do for fun and it kills people. Or how about people dying in car wrecks? Or those killed by repeat drunk drivers, wait, those repeat offenders are helped out of jail and back into the drivers seat by the same left wing officials most of you anti-gunners vote for. (resaon number one why not to vote for someone just because of one or two strong beleifs you have) Dont forget Ted Kennedy from Mass.(D-senator) , his car has killed more people than all of my guns or any of my friends guns put togather. I want you anti-gunners to understand that I absolutly respect your opinion about guns and that you do not like them (or scared of them). But you must remember, there are just as many people out there who think skydiving should be illegal because we do nothing but try to kill ourselves out there. What do you anti-gunner skydivers tell those anti-skydiver people? Is it, "Thats why we take 2 parachutes", or " Its not as dangerous as the media plays it up to be", I don't know but that sounds extrememly close to my argument to you about guns. Also remember this, even though you chose not to own a gun, someone else with a gun (might not even be a cop) could save your ass one day. I would take the shot to protect anyone, even if I didnt know you. Even if I did know you and five minutes before we had an argument about gun ownership, i would still take the shot to protect you. The way I look at it, I am capable and willing to carry, and knowning that, if the situation ever arised where I could have or should have interveined and didn't, or couldnt, I would not be able to live with myself. Even if it becomes illegal to own one day, I would still rather be judged by 12 than carried by six. Even if i have to tell my story with an orange jumpsuit on from behind plexi-glass, at least I am alive to tell my story, or I am able to live with myself because I saved some other innocent ones life. You should always do whatever is possible to better life for ALL, not just yourself. Remember, people who use guns illegally are possesing them illegally. Taking guns away from the law abiding citizens is not going to do anything to stop someone who was going to illegally obtain a weapon in the first place. Think out of the box people, the media lies and glorifies falacies, you see that with stories about skydiving accidents. We carry not just to protect ourselves, we carry to help keep life better for all. Just as a sidenote, there was a law that was recently passed here in FL called the "Do not back down" law. Anti-gun groups took this law way out of context and started to publish pamphlets to foreign countries and travel agencies giving them false warnings saying things like " dont go to florida on vacation because if you get into and argument with a local they are legally allowed to kill you" or "Dont look a local in the eyes because you could upset them and they will kill you". This is absolute bull crap. That new law just allows us to meet force with force. i.e. If we are confronted, we do not have to back down or attempt to run away before we respond (not just with a gun either) this even protects you if you are in a bar and someone starts a fight with you. You do not have to turn around and run away. It does not meant we can take out a gun and shoot you because you picked a fight with me unless I can justify the use of lethal force by being able to articulte that I was afraid for my life, or someone elses, or to stop the commision of a forcible felony (rape, kidnapping, robbery, etc) Anyway, sorry about the long first post, hope you enjoyed, and blue skies!!!! --------------- "Once you find a job that you like, you never have to work another day in your life"
