My first three jumps were on DZ owned T-10s then I moved up to a Thunder Bow for a few exciting openings (The Frontal Closures were exciting). Then long came a Papillion for two or three jumps. When it opened it always reminded me af a Taffeta dress Then I bought a Israeli made Red, White & Blue Competition Para-Commander. Every couple of dozen jumps I was guaranteed a reserve ride. Those were the days

This is what Stormville's Lodestar looked like in 1974. Marty T

Bobby Sweet was Willie's nephew. His father (Willie's brother) was Sandy Sweet. Bobby died in the ninety's in a jumping accident. The Lodestar N43WT was taken from Z-hills by the Confederate Air force, put on display for a few years as a WW2 transport ship then sold as scrap. To see what it looked like as scrap go to: http://www.airport-data.com/aircraft/photo/152677.html . Makes me want to cry. Marty T (Stormville 1973 - 1984)

Ive been involved with the sport for over thirty years and have seen DZs come & go. Skydive Long Island (at Calverton) is a safe and fun operation. Its close to New York City but far enough out to enjoy a day or a weekend away from the hussel & bussel of the city. The D/Z operator, Ray Maynard is a Skydive Professional with decades of skydiving knowledge and wisdom. Weather youre looking to make your first tandem jump or your 1000th leap SDLI is the place to go.
