All very wise and valid points. However, if anyone had seen the weather in Orlando today, it was GORGEOUS! Bright blue skies, 80ish temps, a consistent light breeze, and no thunderheads or anything. Has our sport become such that we require utter perfection in order to participate? The weather was much nicer than required by the BSRs, yet there we were, stuck on the ground. It's just very frustrating is all. Which is apparently what happened, as we were back in the air shortly thereafter. Thanks for entertaining my need to vent!

I'm not the only one that hates them, am I? Did anyone in Orlando look outside their window today? Deland went on a weather hold!! There was barely a cloud in the sky! As I understand it, the pilot was eventually 'persuaded' to keep flying. So up we went to find widely scattered clouds with bases at 4K and tops at 4.5K and a beautiful view all the way to the ocean! I'd be pissed if I was the DZO whose business was senselessly reduced by the pilot. In a world full of people, only some want to fly... isn't that crazy! --Seal

Depends on your employment status. Employed privately, you have no legal duty to act. Employed publically, you have a legal duty to act, but only if you're sworn. Almost everyone has a moral duty to act; unless of course, they have no morals. In a world full of people, only some want to fly... isn't that crazy! --Seal

Good vibes your way, Bo. I'm not a Scrooge, but not really into the holiday, either. I send cards - that's about it. But I do belive in buying myself Christmas presents ... so I'm off to the Invasion next week! Look out Sebastian -- one of 'those guys' is coming to jump! It's probably bad karma to plan on getting some 'common skydiving injuries', but regardless of your karmic taunt, you should expect to spend ALOT! Health care in the US is the purest example of capitalism, and similar to a fine art gallery, if you have to ask, you probably can't afford it. You can mitigate expenses for minor injuries by: (1) treating the injury yourself, (2) driving yourself to a doctor, (3) going to a walk-in clinic instead of the ER. And of course, there's always prevention! In a world full of people, only some want to fly... isn't that crazy! --Seal

Low cost airlines .... What's you experiience?

My experiences with European discount carriers... Norwegian - they outsource their flights to other eastern European carriers. Had a personal challenge climbing aboard an aircraft whose name I can't pronounce. Then I thought of all the different jump planes I've been on and decided it wasn't much different. Clickair - a very inexpensive alternative to Iberia. They parked the plane way out on the airfield and bussed us to the terminal. Easyjet - similar to Southwest in US, but with assigned seats. Make sure your iPod is charged so you can 'escape' from the madness. All of the above were timely and not unreasonable about baggage. One or two kilos overweight was nothing to get upset about, but I did witness some passengers forced to repack when their bags were 10kilos overweight.
