  1. I haven't been on here for awhile and am sad to see Tom pass. Our paths first crossed up in NE when he was a tandem master. The world and the sport lost one of the best people that there ever was. it seems a lot of the world's young fit athletes are dropping like flies these days.
  2. Funny how you don't hear much about people of color in the Civil War and how they were treated on both sides of the battle lines. I hope some day I will get the honor of shaking Mr. H.K. Edgerton's hand. H.K. 3. mars would be a great place to start a prison colony, much in the way that australia was initially used by the brits. i think barry soetoro and his criminal gang would be an awesome start in this endeavor. he, barry, still wants to be king rat of something, and mars would be a wonderful planet for a grand liberal experiment.
  4. you don't lose your wife or gf at the dz, just your place in line.
  5. hi jerry, i disagree. the greatest engineering marvel was water and more important sewage systems. big cities or population bases would not exist in a disease environment. the landing on the moon would not have happen if half the population died off every now and the.
  6. leave it to canucks to meddle in their neighbors affairs
  7. for a small upstart fledgling country that had barely been in existence for less than 36 and to kick Mother England and her professional military's butt, is pretty righteous.
  8. so beav, i guess you know there are bad operators in police forces all over this world, just like politicians of all parties. what right did the perp have to attack the police officer? just because he/she has a gun, badge, and wears blue, does that make him/her automatically guilty of sins of another?
  9. must be the long cold winters you guys have up there, moronic thought pattern seem to have taken hold of you.
  10. had no problem finding it back during the "revolutionary war." my bad, it was the War of 1812 that the army took a little trip north of the border.
  11. ask the flint cop that got stabbed in the neck and had to subdue the perp, beavis. i'll bet the attack was terroristy enough for him and his family.
  12. after the events yesterday in flint, our neighbors to the north might need to be added to the travel ban.
  13. hey rush, just the obvious result of barry soetoro and how he weaponized every part of the federal govt. it was a forced use of the federal govt as the PC police to break the constitution, much like his love of picking the winners and losers, which through his pathetic 8 years was chock full of losers. what the donald hasn't canceled out, the courts are killing as they get to them. before long the only thing left of the great kenyan's legacy will be the vast amount of debt he ran up playing messiah.
  14. a army general, a navy admiral, and an air force general are at the pentagon finalizing their retirement. the final part was to calculate their retirement rate. The genius's in the headshed devised a formula that consisted of a value times the distance between any two points on the retiree's body. the three were briefed and in turn asked what two body points they wished to be used in the calculation the navy admiral went with the tip of the nose to the end of right foot. The medic took the measurement, fed it into the computer and generated the rate. the air force general went with the top of his head to the end of his left toe. he was measured and the rate was generated. the two stuck around to see what the army general chose, and died laughing when he chose the tip of his nose to his right testicle. when he drops his pants for the medic to make his measurement, the medic notices the right nut is missing, he asks the general where it is, he replies "got it shot off in a rice paddy in 'nam back in '65," now get to measuring.
  15. all of my jumps as a student were filled out in my log book, one should be able to consult log book get type/make/size and let google do the walking. my first jumps were on an old goliath can o pee, it flew like a 2.5 ton army truck but got the job done, you (OP) need to work on a little thing that skyjumpers need to know called the PLF. i'll bet ya 5 bucks your feet and knees weren't together as you (OP) were landing.
  16. look up "rigger lee" he is on here now and then. he has worked on some interesting "deceleration" projects.
  17. "man who bounce woman on bed spring, in the spring, next spring, have offspring."
  18. With all talk to secession going around in CA, for once in my life I agree with the residents of the land of fresh fruits, vegetables and wing nuts. I think you should go, that is those that think they’d prefer to go it alone. A very learned man once said, “If you drew a line on the map and gave the liberal wack jobs the best part, in less than 6 months’ time, they’d be cobbling together anything that’ll float trying to get into the conservatives area.” With that being said, where should the border be drawn? Like in NY only the large population locations have lost their grasp of reality, so how far north should the line be drawn? Once the line is drawn who’s money are you going to beg for when your spending on big ideas can’t make your payrolls or if the big one finally hits, who is going to invest in your community and help restore it? Let’s try this, let’s give Puerto Rico state status, and reduce CA to that of territory status or maybe trade it off to Mexico to pay down on the cost of southern border security?
  19. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UclgEjWVSwE kind of catchy tune.
  20. When I first got to z-hills, the first person I met there was Scotty. He told me that story and everybody telling him that he was going to die jumping that rig. Scotty let me chase a lot of his "dis-organized" loads starting out with a camera. He'd always get a pick up team put together for competition during boogies. One boogie only Scotty and I were from the states everybody else was from Europe. I made two Keys Boogies with Scotty. It was amazing how many people would come out of the woodwork that knew him and had volumes of colorful stories of Carbone. Going to miss you Scotty, tell Johnny and Debbie I'm thinking about them all the time. Blue skies, my brother!! 4rust gump
  21. just a few counter points for you. 1. not all jumpers are sized for rental rigs, most DZs have 260sqft and down sized canopies and must be jumped 1:1 wingloaded. jp furnari sold me my first new rig when he worked at Sq1 after my SL instructor explained that not all DZs may have rental gear for my size. 2. everything depreciates. the rig JP sold me is now over 12 years old and still looks and functions great. have traded canopies on it several times over the years and has served as a backup to two new rigs i bought later. Keep the jump numbers low on your canopies and you get more for them. my first canopy a 7cell 260 is probably still out there basejumping somewhere. Chuting Star, back when they did consignments, sold a canopy for me and i got pretty darn close to a new price for it even though it had eloy and perris dust on it. so though my V-3 isn't worth the 5+K i laid out for it, it's always there as my backup with the same handles as my newer rig. 3. the handles/deployment system may be different between rental rigs/DZs. Borrowed gear can kill (no matter the source) and does so when it get's the chance.
  22. you're "young" in the sport and it diminishes as jumps get logged. your next one on the hit parade is performance fear. being where you're supposed to be, not being where you're not supposed to be, and avoiding freefall or canopy collisions, all with cost. i land, drop my helmet and fiddle with my ger and then set my brakes and toggles. that's after landing around the student landing area, and walking back to the hanger to start breathing again.
  23. have no way to figure out where the OP is located so using the prices above the tunnel time cost $898 and 2ea tandems at 200 per. so far you have put $1298 bucks into your qwest. i used some numbers i found on the web breaking down the static line program by the jump (see attached .jpg file). for jumps 14-25 i figured 85 for jump ticket and gear rental. the amount you have laid out would have got you to from first jump course through jump 12 and well over have way through the journey with $1047 yet to spend.
  24. been in the telecom racket and off and on in the oil patch for over 30 years. try packing heat on their property. getting into a telephone central office these days alone takes an act of God. in the "new improved" oil patch, you can get kicked off location and black balled for a small pocket knife even if it's tucked away in you car's glove box. thanks liberals and wacked out insurance companies! did some work in southern AZ and spent the night in tombstone. hit the steak house/saloon for supper and everybody but me in there had a shooter on their hip. definitely knew there weren't going to be anybody robbing that place. a lot of my friends pack and have concealed permits. one in his 60's has done a toy run for 15-20 years for foster kids placed by our state, said kids need to get something for christmas and he made sure they did. he's kinda like my snake eater buddies, low key, low profile and they don't seem to stand out in a crowd. given the choice, i'd rather have my friends and neighbors armed then the hoodlums have them.
