  1. I have looked at the Rawa helmet WITHOUT the camera box, mostly. When I am ready to think about attaching a camera to it, it will have the surfaces to do so. I would like to get a second helmet anyway. I think I can hold off on the video camera, though. No hurries there. In any event I just wanted something to think about and research. _________________________________________ Twin Otter N203-Echo,29 July 2006 Cessna P206 N2537X, 19 April 2008 Blue Skies Forever
  2. It took a bit for my friend Joe and I to get it, but we held a 2-way hybrid for a moment or two. I was on my belly and he held my hipstrap and chest strap and went into a stand. You can cork pretty easily when you get unstable, but the ride is alot of fun. _________________________________________ Twin Otter N203-Echo,29 July 2006 Cessna P206 N2537X, 19 April 2008 Blue Skies Forever
  3. Well, here is a bit of background. I jump at Quantum Leap. Rob Walsh was an amazing videographer, I would like to follow in his footsteps. I also crashed my motorcycle 2 weeks ago. I have a bit if extra cash and have been looking at camcorders. I don't plan on jumping a camera until I am ready, I just wanted to get the camera ahead of time. Also, I have been looking at getting a second helmet, one that I would eventually be able to use as a camera helmet. I understand that this is going to take time and jumps - which is why I won't be getting another motorcycle. I am going to devote the time and money that I spent on the bike to skydiving. _________________________________________ Twin Otter N203-Echo,29 July 2006 Cessna P206 N2537X, 19 April 2008 Blue Skies Forever
  4. Ok, good enough. I was not looking to become an instant videographer, I just wanted a place to start looking at what it took to get started. _________________________________________ Twin Otter N203-Echo,29 July 2006 Cessna P206 N2537X, 19 April 2008 Blue Skies Forever
  5. I am looking at a Rawa without camera box and a Sony DCR SR-100. I am going to mount the camera on top of the helmet. It will be able to capture stills while shooting video. I have heard all the recommendations of when to start jumping the helmet and when to add the camera and so forth. I will Just jump the helmet for about 20 jumps until I get comfortable with it, then add the camera. I do not have 100 jumps yet, so all I am looking to do is simply capture video. I have alot of learning to do. Would this be a good setup to start with? _________________________________________ Twin Otter N203-Echo,29 July 2006 Cessna P206 N2537X, 19 April 2008 Blue Skies Forever
  6. I was there Saturday, first jump after the crash at Sullivan. I have been there a few times, actually. Great place, great people. Just bring something to drink - they are short on facilities save for a port-a-john. Cessna 182 and a nice big clear open area. I highly recommend checking the place out. _________________________________________ Twin Otter N203-Echo,29 July 2006 Cessna P206 N2537X, 19 April 2008 Blue Skies Forever
  7. Well, we regularly flew with the door open. The plane WAS cleared to fly with the door open. The plane was well maintained. This point of wether the door was open or not is irrelivant. Your speculation is unwelcome. Question MY Dropzones safety and attention to detail - you are just poking a stick. _________________________________________ Twin Otter N203-Echo,29 July 2006 Cessna P206 N2537X, 19 April 2008 Blue Skies Forever

  9. http://www.columbiatribune.com/2006/Aug/20060803News013.asp I should know how to make this a clicky. _________________________________________________ UNION (AP) - The parents of a woman who died along with five others in a skydiving plane crash have filed a lawsuit claiming engine failure led to their daughter’s death. Vivian and Susan Delacroix, of Kent, England, filed the lawsuit yesterday in the death of Victoria Delacroix, 22, who was about to make her first parachute jump. The plane crashed Saturday shortly after taking off from the Sullivan airport. Gary C. Robb, the family’s lawyer from Kansas City, filed the lawsuit in Franklin County Circuit Court in Union. The lawsuit names United Technologies, the parent company of Pratt & Whitney, which made the PT6A turboprop engines that powered the DeHavilland DHC-6 airplane, which crashed shortly after takeoff in Sullivan. The lawsuit also names Quantum Leap Skydiving Center, which ran the skydiving club; the Sullivan airport, which allegedly serviced the plane; and Adventure Aviation, a Delaware corporation that owned the plane; and pilot Scott Cowan, who died in the crash. _________________________________________________ I'm speechless........ _________________________________________ Twin Otter N203-Echo,29 July 2006 Cessna P206 N2537X, 19 April 2008 Blue Skies Forever
  10. You have to have put neon lights and alot of performance stickers to get it going that fast. It is not a chip - it is called a "governer". Did you use NOS? Leave it to a skydiving chick to spray her suburban......... _________________________________________ Twin Otter N203-Echo,29 July 2006 Cessna P206 N2537X, 19 April 2008 Blue Skies Forever
  11. Do not stand at my grave and weep I'm not there, I do not sleep. I am the essence of a clear blue sky. I am the yearning to climb very high. I am the breeze you feel as you spot. I am the rapture of flying your slot. I am the rustle of a canopy in flight. I am the flicker of camp fire light. When you pass through the door into open air, I know you're smiling, I am the wind in your hair. So do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there; I did not die. [unknown author] BSBD my friends. You will not be forgotten, but you will be missed. _________________________________________ Twin Otter N203-Echo,29 July 2006 Cessna P206 N2537X, 19 April 2008 Blue Skies Forever
  12. I got the news about 3 hours after it happened. I started AFF at QL last year. QL is my home DZ. They were my friends. I have my rig in for some work or I would have been there. I knew everyone but the tandem student. I miss them and am so sad they are gone. BSBD, you will not be forgotten....... _________________________________________ Twin Otter N203-Echo,29 July 2006 Cessna P206 N2537X, 19 April 2008 Blue Skies Forever
  13. I have a Genera G4 container. Similar to a Dolphin. I have about 30 jumps on it so far, but the container has close to 300 total jumps. I have had the riser cover come open in free-fall twice. The first time I got head down for a moment. The second time I was belly-to-earth, doing a regular solo skydive. In my reading of the sim and other literature, I discovered that the tuck-tab material can be made of various thickness/strenght. When it becomes less rigid it is time to replace it, so the literature states. Should a rigger/master rigger be able to do this? I originally thought so, but was instead guided to send it into the manufacturer - which I did. I would like to eventually earn a riggers ticket so I can do the work myself. I would like to be able to do this particular service, but if it is out of a riggers "scope of practice", than I will continue to refer this kind of issue to the manufacturer. Rigging Innovations is going to fix it and may even be able to make the rig freefly friendly. Thought, I think I will stick with sit-flying for the time being. I may just end up - when the time comes - purchasing another rig that is freefly friendly to begin with. Thank you for your thoughts, Steve _________________________________________ Twin Otter N203-Echo,29 July 2006 Cessna P206 N2537X, 19 April 2008 Blue Skies Forever
  14. Looks as if a news story is stating that he lived for 57 minutes after being hit. As far as I am concerned, it is somewhat suiting that he saw it coming and knew that he was going to die. He would not have hesitated to do his worst, why be emotional that he may have suffered for a few minutes? Though his suffering was not intentional, I think that something bigger than us had this in mind when those bombs dropped. I think it tasteless that someone glorify that he should have been tortured. Goes to show how much people really do not appreciate their freedoms. _________________________________________ Twin Otter N203-Echo,29 July 2006 Cessna P206 N2537X, 19 April 2008 Blue Skies Forever
  15. If these people live, you have the chance of being kiled by them. Celebrate their death, because you have one less bad guy trying to kill you. Tree hugging, bed wetting, thumb sucking sissies need to pull their heads out of their asses before they speak. _________________________________________ Twin Otter N203-Echo,29 July 2006 Cessna P206 N2537X, 19 April 2008 Blue Skies Forever
  16. Pray for peace, train for war. You see, it works like this: The government that "the American People" voted for sent me to war to kill the bad guys. When a particular bad guy does things like Zarqawi did, I am going to be in a celebratory mood when the bastard goes down. This is how I do my job. You may think me inhuman, that I render violence on your behalf. That I can take pleasure in another human beings death. My friend, you need to be aware of how fortunate you are. What I have done is between me and them, not for you to judge. I we do not kill the enemy, he will kill civilians, al la Sep 11. If I kill him first, those people live. I celebrate their life in his death. How well do you sleep at night????? _________________________________________ Twin Otter N203-Echo,29 July 2006 Cessna P206 N2537X, 19 April 2008 Blue Skies Forever
  17. I hope he is taking it up the ass in hell right now, by a horse with a UTI......................... This day is a cause for celebration. Cheers to this assclowns death....... _________________________________________ Twin Otter N203-Echo,29 July 2006 Cessna P206 N2537X, 19 April 2008 Blue Skies Forever

  19. Here is the sob story part: Was in Iraq, Baghdad, for a year. Saw shit I NEVER want to see again. Came back, found out the wife had a Jody (started messing around on my 3 months after I left). I would rather get shot at than deal with that again. Always wanted to skydive. Another fear to face - and conquor. 5 months out of the desert, 6 weeks after kicking the wife out I am making my first skydive. Haven't looked back since........... and it just keeps getting better _________________________________________ Twin Otter N203-Echo,29 July 2006 Cessna P206 N2537X, 19 April 2008 Blue Skies Forever
  20. I did this on an AFF jump, a student solo jump, and once after I had not jumped for about a month. Now I have my eyes fixed (PRK) I can see the sock and the triangle thingy quite clearly - and will use the eat the carrot mantra to help out. The triangle thingy was difficult because it somehow stuck into my mind that it POINTED in the direction of the wind.......... Now, I know better......... _________________________________________ Twin Otter N203-Echo,29 July 2006 Cessna P206 N2537X, 19 April 2008 Blue Skies Forever
  21. I would say that the rider was stupid, and two others paid the price. Not all riders are like this, actually this is the exception, not the norm. Some people do us the favor of removing themselves from the gene pool. It is unfortunate when others are hurt/killed, sad really. _________________________________________ Twin Otter N203-Echo,29 July 2006 Cessna P206 N2537X, 19 April 2008 Blue Skies Forever
  22. I remember, I posted this question once. Opinions vary, really. Some say you are not workable until you have 100 jumps behind you. Others will try to pull you into their discipline of choice and tell you that is how "real skydivers do it." Honestly you have to decide for yourself. You like to jump? You live for jumping? You obsess about the weather and if it is good enough to jump? Get your A license, jump with others. ENJOY skydiving. Keep on doing it. You are a skydiver. It invades our thoughts, it runs in our blood, it emptys our bank accounts. We live to jump. You are among us............... _________________________________________ Twin Otter N203-Echo,29 July 2006 Cessna P206 N2537X, 19 April 2008 Blue Skies Forever
