Kallend... I say "try" like that not because I think I'm good or anything, but because I think everyone's max track is so different from everyone else that it 'should' be hard to do... I honestly don't know... never tried it.

Any ideas how to change it up on a solo tracking dive?
-
SkyMonkey, thanks for the offer. I'll gladly take you on it when I have the jump numbers. MarkM, you're probably right. I honestly don't have a problem with just continuing to do tracking dives/etc until I have 200... I enjoy tracking more than anything else, as I've said before. I just wish more people down there tracked. I have done a couple of tracking dives with 5+... lots of fun. The only thing about those dives though is that you can't really track at your max, since you have to stay with the lead. I wish I could jump with someone that would try to stay with me while I tracked as hard as I could. Thanks for the advice guys... will definitely take it into account.

Hrmm... definitely a lot of thinking from reading this thread... I'm glad I posted. The thing about me flying the suit before buying it... I would've done it maybe in the next 30 jumps or so, then bought it if I liked it. What would I gain from the flight test? As of now, I love tracking. People make fun of me because I go on so many solo tracking dives... I love the feeling of going fast as heck, gaining lift from it, and doing better and better as the jumps add up. With wingsuits I don't know if maybe for some reason I won't like the "floating" sensation. Not that I've ever flown one, so there might not even BE a floating sensation... so I wanted to try it before committing to it. So for now I'll continue jumping, tracking, watching WS videos, and checking in this forum keeping up with the news.

The First South African Aerobatic Wingsuit Competition
OSOK replied to xwind's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Are you planning on having a freestyle round? From the video it seemed like everyone was following a certain routine of sorts... and yea, I can tell what you mean when you say you need to redefine what a "dock" would be -
Got it... thnx guys and VB!

Ripped off for 1300 dollars on Dropzone.com
OSOK replied to kzeier's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
There are a few things you can do... You can contact his ISP and track him down that way. I'm not sure if you might need the backup of the police or some other department to do that, but it's a start. Just hope he didn't use the email address from a public computer or something. -
Well... I don't know how to answer the how good I am part. All I can tell (which most of it doesn't even have much to with wingsuits) is that I've done lots of tracking dives, and today I got 75 secs of freefall in one of them, tracking a bit over a mile (as per my GPS). About the wingsuit, I'll be able to jump it before I buy it... so I can tell if it's really for me or not. As of now, I love tracking... that's all I can say because that's all I've experienced.

I've come across a really good deal for an S3 with 20 jumps on it. Even though I don't have enough experience to fly one, what are you guys' opinions on using this as first suit? I've done lots of tracking jumps, and plan on doing lots more plus wingsuit-practice jumps by the time I hit 200 jumps, which is when I'd like to fly wingsuits.

I track a lot by myself on loads that have belly flyers, freeflyers, and tandems. I was always told to track perpendicular to jumprun, turn 180, the track back... and do this until pulltime. It makes a lot of sense to me because you're staying on your portion of space, jump run wise. After more and more tracks, I hated stopping for the 180s... so I started tracking, and turning 180 while on a hard track. This helped me both with maneuvering and I didn't have to stop tracking for the 180. Lately what I've been doing is just tracking as per the second pic on the above post. I'm very aware for where I am, and if needed, I'll open up a bit higher than planned if I have to just so I can make it back. Sometimes they do jump run offset a bit from the wind direction. So, if the wind is coming from the E, and they do jumprun NE, then I'll track N so when I open I have the wind on my back to help me get back. What has helped me a lot is paying close attention to the jumprun direction and just do what makes sense.

How do you work up the nerve to jump again?
OSOK replied to scottjaco's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hey scott, I've never witnessed anything like that, so I can't really answer your question. However, I'll say this: there's nothing wrong with simply not doing it anymore. I'd say also consider this an option. -
What Is Your Definition of a Double Malfunction?
OSOK replied to slotperfect's topic in Safety and Training
slotperfect, I think options 4 and 3 are the same as 1. I think a poll that would show easier to categorize opinions will be "Main is cutaway; reserve does not open properly (no entanglement)" and "Main is cutaway; reserve entangles with main" -
What about the video of the dudes jumping in the cave in Mexico? One of them is hanging from a tree and let's go. That qualifies, right?

Can you explain what you mean to a noob? All I see is him collapse his wings and pull. Isn't that how it's normally done?
-
I cant wait to start flying... these damn jump numbers are taking so long!! Cool story!

Google Earth Drop Zone Project -- Ideas and Discussion

In other words, you bump your own thread. Nice! -
Can you tell us how this hard landing happened? Flared too early and let go, flared too late, etc?

I wonder how many views/replies this needs before it becomes a sticky... -
I'm envious too... I wish I could jump with my dad/brother/mom/sister but I don't have the jumps to be able to fly with a tandem Great pics!

I'm lost. Are your jump runs the same direction, no matter what the winds are doing?
-
Ok... I'm SO glad you didn't brush me off. I'm a bit confused. Are your jump runs over the DZ? Forgive me, but I don't see how tracking away from the DZ can get you closer than tracking perpendicular to jump run.

Ok, I was staying out of it until now. Take this any which way, but for someone with a head as big as yours, you need to re-think certain things. I think instead of sounding like a badass, saying others dont track as well as you (with your jump numbers i seriously doubt you know what a good track even feels like), you should go back to square one and realize that tracking back up jump run is not safe. Seriously, humble down a bit before it's too late. There's NOTHING wrong with getting out last and then tracking UP jump run (not down), in the same direction the plane is travelling. And sorry to break it to ya, but I do have a good idea of what a good track feels like. Maybe not as much as the "experts" such as yourself, but good none the less. I don't think I'm a baddass. And anyway, how does tracking well make someone a baddass? Why are you going to do that, ending up landing out? Do you think you have enouch experience to land out on purpose? I don't know what the area looks like, but then again, you should think. You can track perpendicular to jump run then do 180 and come back. I'm not an expert, never said I was. Neither did you, but from your words it sounds like your head is bigger than it should be. This is all just words and you already give an air of "im the shit." I may be wrong, but if it's true, you should drop it right away. And seriously, with 54 jumps saying you've tracked with people not as good as you? I doubt it you can even tell if your track has wobbles all over it. I'm sorry to go off topic. Delete if you'd like mods. Just thought someone needed to say something.

I've achieved horizontal speeds of 100mph and glide ratios if about 0.8, as per my GPS. It's not anything amazing, but neither is my jumps number
