Yeah... with bifocals! /me mumbles...
-
Thanks for the link Mike. DougH, for some reason my eyes have become very sensitive to sunlight... it must be because I 'always' wear my sunglasses when I go out... no matter what I'm doing. So, a tinted lense would be nice, and look a little cooler too
-
Mike, any idea how 'dark' it is? Dough, that and functionality as well.
-
Do they make a black lense for this helmet? Any ideas?

Cool video. How did it feel watching yourself get let go for the first time?

Skydiver suing jump outfit - News story
OSOK replied to PhreeZone's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I thought the waiver wasn't a "no matter what, you can't sue" but more of a "if you want to sue, it'll be harder and more expensive" type of thing. Can someone clarify? It's been a while since I signed that... -
ah good idea... thanks guys!

Is anyone interested in any Parachutist issues from about a year ago til today? I'm getting rid of them all, but figured I'd ask first here in case anyone is interested... you have about 4 hours to reply. Later!

In IAF you have the instructor attached to you... which beats any radio communication of any kinda.
-
BiGun, you nailed it. And not only is it easier on the student, but which would you say is better for the under-canopy section of every skydive?
-
Like WatchYourStep said, IAF consists of 3 tandem jumps and then 6 levels to pass AFF style, with only one instructor. It comes in handy in a busy DZ because you require only one instructor, and it's cheaper than AFF too. I'm way past student training, so I don't ask for myself... I'm just curious as to what the numbers for both are. I went through IAF myself. Since so many people are hurting themselves under canopy, including students, I think it's a great idea to make those first three canopy rides with an instructor on your back. It's something I've been meaning to ask for a while but never did, and reading the current incident of the student turning too low made me curious once again. So back to the original question...
-
Does anyone have the statistics about student incidents that occur under canopy between those that go through AFF and those that go through IAF? Just curious...

Learn to check your altimeter on your wrist while tracking... you're not always going to have a chest-mounted altimeter. It's not that hard to do. Can you tell us what you're doing on your solo tracking dives?

I never "once" got the "this is a bad idea feeling" while in freefall. Sometimes while the plane is taxiing I think "this is the one" ... and it's mostly thinking about an aircraft emergency... I don't know why, it doesn't happen often, but thats the only thing I experience from time to time that has to do with "fear."
-
Isn't this pretty much as airbags? They've killed some, saved some. However, I think the chances of getting killed by one rather than saved are small... with a bit of common sense, there's your answer.

There are a few things that turn my computer into a mini-home theather: WMP on fullscreen, chair reclined, lights dimmed, drink in hand, food at hand's reach. The above video just did that.

Thanks for the advice guys. I checked and it's not the same guy. Although I can't see his real name, his email addy and address are different. I'm probably gonna go to my DZ tmrw and talk to the DZ rigger and see if I can work something out. Thanks all!
-
Hey all... Just looking for some advice on the following. Recently came across a good rig deal from the UK... not sure if the guy might be up for a middle man since it's international. Is paypal a 'safe' way to go about it? I've used it many times but never had to rely on it to get my money back for whatever reason. Thanks!
-
Ok, I don't have the jumps nor have I jumped a wingsuit, but I've done lots of tracking dives wearing a GPS and I'm familiar with what it should show. My question is: what kind of "speed" is this that the Neptune shows? vertical, horizontal, 3d? And what the heck are you doing that you have such aggressive changes in speed?
-
If you plan on doing it, mind telling us where it'll be? I've never uploaded a video to skydivingmovies.com and I'd love it if my first one would be a bloody one. Also, tell us your info so we can start the article for the incidents section. Thanks!

Raft dive safety - the rope that goes around it
OSOK replied to sundevil777's topic in Safety and Training
Wow... I didn't know spinning could do that... -
Hmm, I don't mean to bash, but I think many have missed the obvious. If your profile is accurate, at 23 jumps, why were you jumping with a friend? Also, gusts usually come with strong winds. Were you even supposed to be in the air at all? Just curious...

Ripped off for 1300 dollars on Dropzone.com
OSOK replied to kzeier's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Another tip would be using a credit card to pay. It's much easier to argue a claim if you have a big company to back you up, and it's much easier to argue you paying the money than asking for money back. Of course, this would require the seller to have like a paypal account or something but if they're selling stuff worth several thousands of dollars I don't see why it should be a big deal to have an account.
