  1. I Use http://www.ihi.com/ International Travel and Health Insurance. A lot of base jumpers use it for international travel. Several I know have made full use of it, with medical bills in the high 5 figures to low 6 figure range. Annual insurance is good for 30 days at a clip (trip). https://global.ihi.com/travel+insurance/annual+travel/cover.aspx I pay 160$ ish a year. I also have some supplemental Heli "Insurance" for Switzerland.... Which is more for rescue. $30ish a year. http://www.rega.ch/en/home.aspx

    Looking for anyone in Wisconsin

Ok.. perhaps I am channeling another poster here, but why? You aren't even through AFF yet? http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2744932;#2744932 So why do you want to meet some local jumpers? I understand the whole 'I want to get into BASE and jump right away thing'... but lately, some of these posts are a bit much. How about doing some reading? Some research? Some, perhaps, skydiving? You seem to want to shortcut the entire process? Well let me help you out. BASE rig http://cgi.ebay.com/BASE-RIG-220-Cruiselite-Skydive-skydiving-Parachute_W0QQitemZ220100773678QQihZ012QQcategoryZ106980QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem How to pack http://www.crmojo.com/adobepdf/ra_manual_online.pdf Then you can end up here. http://hometown.aol.com/base194/myhomepage/base_fatality_list #53 tried to shortcut the process too. There. Happy? Fuck.

    body armor, knee/shin guards

I have the velocity armor. Use it for BASE when the situation calls for it. Also use it skiing and downhill mtn biking a bit. Arm movement isn't bad. I have one rig which was measured without it, and it is a little tighter, but not that bad. Arm movement is a little less than without, but my armor fits well, so I don't notice it much. Plus the spine protector is detachable (which I like) so I am more likely to wear it more situations in which I decide against the whole she-bang. For the knees, I wear a combo knee shin guard by race face made for downhill mtn biking. It's not too bad in terms of articulation, but difficult to fit under pants... unless you have motorcross pants. All plastic is sewn down to the pad so the snag potential I feel is less. THough I prefer everything covered. http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m233/jdailey624/MOAB/DSC04665.jpg A shot of me getting ready to exit in MOAB (photo thanks to Jimmy) I am wearing the armor underneath a fleece with my rig that wasn't measured for it, the knee/shin outside of my pants and HanWags. Dress for the crash I guess. Thankfully haven't needed it yet. The vest also fits under my Impact track suit ok. Hope this helps- _justin

    NYC GC Offer

A couple of months? When that new rig comes in you will cut the cast off.... wait isn't it your left arm? You should be ok.

Do you feel wierd about loaning your rig?

Yup. A friend of mine is headed out to Moab and is looking to grab my rig as a second... but I have a new one coming anyway.... However. my rig is currently packed..... for how long who knows, I told him I"d like him to repack it before he jumps it. I think it's the whole *if shit happend thing... you'd never want to wonder, was it my pack job or his body position that caused the 180..... Now between now and then, I plan to jump, and this pack job is fine, but it's for me. not him. _justin

    Are you a skydiver?

Quote Did you really fall for justin's "land on me hard" line? Didn't you think it was funny how he wanted to go for his naked base#, but kept suggesting that A way out in the woods?Quote After that trip to the A in the woods I was on antibiotics for 3 weeks.... thanks a lot!

    Are you a skydiver?

I just checked. I did 100 skydives in the last 6 months and 70 Base jumps. Tommorow I head to the dropzone for a few jumps. Tuesday I fly to Utah / Moab for a few day. I like them (BASE skydiving) both, but in terms of friends in the sports, I would choose any one of my BASE friends over the skydiving crew. I don't think I have ever bonded with people I skydive with like those I have met BASE jumping thus far. _justin

    my first building

I'd love to get the oppertunity to do that. that is cool, especially with the new ones going up that are in the 300' range.. i could get in on a tour real easy now a days and then.... get fired after I land... why do i have to work in a center and not a tower......

    BASE with Sony PC 1000

I've jumped my PC1000 in my FF2 about a dozen times slider off BASE, usually around 2 second - 2.5 second delays. I haven't had any problems with it. I did however manage to knock the camera mount in the helmet loose though on opening. Have to make sure that thing is locked down tight.
  10. My pc1000 connects to my PC through USB 2.0 (also has a firewire port on the dock). It takes up enormous amounts of Hard drive space for the video footage but it seems to transfer ok... Not slow, and the quality is good... My understanding is that firewire and USB 2.0 have almost the same transfer rates (well as for how they are rated)... Firewire being somewhat faster depending on the task and system architecture.... http://www.usb-ware.com/firewire-vs-usb.htm http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_zdpcm/is_200302/ai_ziff36161/pg_2 ... Then again, maybe I misunderstood...... _Justin

    Grease on a BASE canopy

From http://www.bridgeday.info/faq.php#32 This relates to Tar... but.... (32) What can I use to clean tar from my F-111 canopy? Use "Carbo-sol" which is made by the Sunnyside Corp of Wheeling, Illinois

    Skydive Long Island

I am biased because they taught me to jump, but... I like the dropzone. That said it's great, friendly people, a good atmosphere, and a generaly caring atmosphere. Plus it takes a lot of work on your part to land out... but i have done it. The downside is, yes, you do pay a little more than other dropzones in the state. But, hey just to drive to another drop zone with gas and tolls, it's a wash in my book... I'd rather hang out at Skydive Long Island with cool people and decent planes and have a good time. There are downsides thoguh... Food is a drive. I mean that, a drive. And the weather can be a little annoying... but hey, if you are on long island, and don't want to deal with the hassle of driving to the ranch, it's the place to go. That said, I didn't finsh AFF till July and I logged 70+ jumps there this summer... I look forward to logging another hundered there next summer. Skydive long isalnd rocks.
