  1. I'm there, Mad John! Hopefully the weather will cooperate.
  2. Weather.com says Hollister is supposed to be partly cloudy tomorrow, with intervals of clouds and sunshine. I'm going to try and sneak down there tomorrow.
  3. Does not bother me in the slightest. In fact, I'm happy to lend a hand.
  4. I wake up this morning, hop on over to weather.com, and check the conditions at Byron. Cloudy, with 70% chance of rain! Look at the weather map for the US: http://www.weather.com/maps/maptype/dopplerradarusnational/index_large.html?from=wxcenter_maps As with the South Eastern part of the US, NorCal is getting shafted! Mother Nature must not be getting laid, as she seems pissed. Now I have to try and remember what regular people do on the weekends again. /whining.
  5. Hell yes, Cottonelle wipes have more or less replaced toilet paper in my apartment. I still buy TP in case guests desire it.
  6. I wish I could have been there, instead of in podunk Fresno. Can't wait to see some pics and/or video.
  7. As much as I hate the label 'IT,' as it is much too general, I'll bite. I'm a Unix admin by day. It is moderately intellectually stimulating, but most of the time, quite boring.
  8. It's 2005, people still wipe their ass with dry, dead tree? You might as well use a dirty sock for all of the good it does you. Baby wipes all the way.

    Dingleberries

I left my dingleberries on the numbers Saturday night.
  10. Humps? I can barely recall the last time I properly got some action. 0:8:1 Got my A license this weekend, so I can jump at the Byron Boogie!
  11. I would also recommend http://www.craigslist.org for things like apartments. I'm paying $860 a month for my 1 bedroom, but it is a good size, around 700 sq. ft. I would guess.
  12. It rocks. I live in San Jose, which is just a bit south of Sunnyvale. The beauty of the Bay Area is that anything you like to do is usually less than an hour drive. Sunnyvale is about 45 minutes to San Francisco or Santa Cruz, an hour to Byron or Hollister. There are plenty of parks and open space preserves scattered about, great nightlife in most cities, and no shortage of fine restaurants to dine at. The cost of living is generally considered high, but so are salaries. As for the drop zones, I have only been to Byron, where I'm working on getting my A license (in other words, I'm new to the place, so take my opinion with a grain of salt). It, like the rest of the Bay Area, rocks. The people are ridiculously helpful and friendly, the King Air goes to 14k, and the girls are all cute. I'm not really sure what experienced skydivers look for in a drop zone, but if you have a particular question, I'd be happy to give my opinion.
  13. Personally, I agree. Worry more about what your body is capable of (how much you can lift, how far and fast you can run) than what popular culture says you should look like.
  14. What exactly are you concerned about? You could start by trying to figure out your BMR (basal metabolic rate), basically how many calories your body needs under normal conditions. If your body normally requires 2000 calories a day to keep your body in a steady state, that is, to not gain or lose weight, then a 500 calorie a day deficit is pretty good. In fact, a 500 calorie deficit is optimal, since one pound of fat contains roughly 3500 calories, so at that rate you would lose a pound a week. Most people would suggest keeping your weight loss to around a pound a week, not much more, assuming that is what you are going for. As for the being hungry part, that is completely normal. Nothing like being on a 14 mile run, with 4 miles to ago, and hungry enough that you are about ready to start gnawing the paint off of the street signs. I've started taking fruit with me for the longer runs. :) Throw in some resistance training, otherwise your body might start to use muscle as an energy source. This would reduce your BMR, which is bad. Make sure you are getting enough protein. Disclaimer: I'm not a doctor, other medical professional, personal trainer, or in any way qualified.
