  1. If I want to continue this into brand wars it would be more like hey tesla, this geo metro works just fine, why would we want to improve and try something different? Squirrel has said they will do this mod for anyone that wants it, so I'm sure It would be plenty easy to get it done before you even get your new suit. If anyone using this fix having any issues or negative things to say at all?
  2. My point is using the modification makes it neither take more time, nor ad more risk. No argument from me about which brand to use it on or that the current system like your picture isn't ideal and can have the potential to swallow handles. It's pretty obvious that a shit ton of people have these suits, and I don't think they're going to sell them or have a rigger replace the zippers with tabs any time soon. If anyone else thinks of a better way to solve the problem let me know, but I'd consider this method a significantly safer alternative than nothing. If I said I had a ford, and it's broken and needs to be fixed, telling me that the manufacturer should have built it a different way or telling me to buy a Chevy doesn't exactly change my immediate problem.
  3. If you can fully hook up a lace up suit in the time it takes me to zip on mine, I'd even set you up with a real live girl to have sex with so you wouldn't have to publically masturbate so furiously. Seriously, just try this method, it'll change your life, just like the flashlight did.
  4. The spectra line thing takes probably 5 minutes to set up, and then you just treat it as a completely normal zipper pull from then on. When it's set it functions basically the exact same as the beloved lace up system, an immobile hole the size and location of your choosing. I'm not sure why people think this is bad in some way or are resistant to doing it. I'll even send you the line for free. Do people just want to continue debating if the innie outie is better or not? Rabble rabble rabble...
  5. If by mediocre fix you mean takes a really scary problem and basically completely stops it, then yes it is quite mediocre. Try it if you haven't, it's beautiful and you can get free line from any rigger that does line sets for swoopers.
  6. I'm a big fan of the spectra replacement of the pull tabs on the zippers. Easy way to solve the zippers moving issue on any suit, and makes changing suits maybe a slight bit harder, but still much easier than the lace up systems of yor. Pictures and description on the squirrel website for those who don't know what I'm talking about.
  7. Very true actually. Stalin vs hitler dick measuring contest in Stalingrad. Ruskies definitely don't get enough credit given the number of lives they lost. I work in an er and had a gentleman who was 13 during d day and lived in Normandy, fascinating stories. Aren't we all just waiting for the Chinese to take over anyway? Oh and again, not crinkly
  8. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BepyTSzueno And you can say thank you to America that you arent speaking German right now. Im just playing around, im all for whatever progresses the sport. I do think that squirrel did do the innie outie first if i remember coorently though and tony offered to modify his suits after. Tony had neoprene sleeves, but the angled cut was squirrel, as well as the neoprene only at the end of the arm which the ridge looks to have as well. Tony made the cups, but squirrel put in the middle support that you see across the industry now. I do absolutely give tony/jeff the most credit of anyone for the development of the pretty standard shape of all the big mattress suits on the market now. The s-bird/x-bird are when things really changed. I liked that s-fly suits were weird and french and awesone in their own way with the monowing and the crinkle fabric. I liken them to 70s citroens. Even the cruise screams s-fly, and is damned impressive when flown well. Seeing a very non traditionally s-fly appeaing s-fly suit to me would be like seeing a vampire without the hole in the leg wing, just wouldnt seem the same.
  9. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yZUKEVU-TwM Ok I've lost interest and am done trolling. Murica.
  10. Ok you win, but I'm still reading your posts with an awesome French accent in my head. Show me the videos of flying over the pillar at brevent and I'll agree it starts well.
  11. Yah the Apache kind of does...the ridge EXACTLY does. Like the features listed on the website are exactly the same as the aura website but with different names. Not saying it's wrong at all, imitation is a form of flattery, but innie outie, the same identical arm inlets, a nutsack, cut in neoprene arms, same exact style cellphone/camera zip, hiking pole straps, neoprene triangles at the attachment, same carbon fiber grippers, and a profile and shape that I would bet is within a cm in almost every direction. They may have had a little ...inspiration. If I look at the vampire series or the tony suit series I see development of a design over time, but I could tell right off the bat which manufactures made them. If I look at a core and a ridge, I see basically nothing similar at all and not the classic "sfly look". Just interesting is all. But back on topic, it not crinkly anymore either
  12. Newest s-fly suit looks to be about the same as an aura in every way... Let the brand wars commence ;) I was sad to see the monowing go away though :(
  13. Doesnt count unless I see an overlay with several grids and colored lines Very nice and clean formation, im impressed how quickly it built out of the plane. Strong work!
  14. There have been a few sentinel suits, it would be really hard to just pick one. Its like a hall of fame, you cant just pick one. These are what stick out to me. Birdman Classic: the OG, you cant argue this oen V1: The first big suit, and from my understanding, the suit Robi really wanted to build, and the beginning of PF. This was probably one of the biggest jumps forward from prior designs ever in wingsuiting. Phantom/P2: Solidifying the small suits place. Still as good today as they were 10 years ago. Tony XS: The original mega suit. Watching Jeff pilot one of these things a day when the V2 was the max performance suit was utterly mind blowing. The wing modifications to these that became various birds were really important, but this was the first really functional mattress. (Sorry I dont count the nebula with webbies ;) ) Squirrel AURA: To me this was the suit that brought the big suit and terrain flying together in a totally different way. It became a new standard really quickly, and more than anything, it changed the way we order and are delivered wingsuits. My low lights list: S1-S3. Terrifyingly small leg wing (did my first base jumps in these) Original Tony suits nebula: one word, webbies Stealth 1/2 : never really could get these to do what i wanted
  15. I think I missed why youre getting rid of your original canopy. Spectre is a pretty good wingsuit canopy. If you want more exciting canopy, sabre, safire, what have you. Stay away from elipticals. If you want a bigger canopy, a bigger episcene or a lightweight base canopy is nice and will fit in your current rig, but youll probably spend at least $2000 on one of those. If you dont plan on base jumping, im not sure why youre considering a base specific canopy.
  16. GTI, but make sure to get the wing mod. That extra 1/4" of surface area makes a big difference.
  17. I sure hope so! Im excited for the return of the leader to the skydiving world, but worry about lack of funding, and that 3 of the guys have had kids and havent been jumping much in the last few years, and one was brian drake :( Id be more than happy to see a lot more purple and red back in the lodi skys!
  18. Thats because a lot of our friends wind up in those trees ... Regardless of the suit they're flying . I'm flying 15 ft higher and having (almost) as much fun
  19. thats not how the exit was at all. did you see the video from the race? All 4 crammed into the door at the exact time. Lots of people claim that the race was all just chance based on the exit, but on day 1 out of 48 people if you had asked my to pick the final 4, I would have gotten 3/4. China race was super fast and divy prelims followed by a really flat straight finals, so I guess you can take what you want out of that too. BASE fast and skydiving fast are two very different things. I guarantee not one single pilot reached their maximum possible speed in the finals of the WWL or they wouldnt have reached the LZ. and after all this, who the hell cares who can fly a suit the fastest forward? Does everyone exit the plane and just dive as fast as they can now?
  20. Yes, they're in the same class, similar sized. Colugo 2 is way different than the c1. C2 did quite well in the aces race against scorpions. They're both great suits though, fast and agile
  21. Man I cant believe they picked those people, im way better than all of them! Actually, mostly just Scott ;) But for reals have fun competing, should be a good time im sure. Team ill vision hasnt really done much in like 5 years, I dont get the reference either.
  22. Anyone put a belly cam facing down toward them on while making hard turns? Id be interested to see what they look like during actual flight
  23. Haha despite the the fact that I've been around for a while, and can actually remember jumping side mount mini dv camcorders and not having YouTube to post to, I'm only 30, so I still put myself in the young guy range . Shouldn't you be out building ice caves during your 3 hours of daylight right now Markus :)
