  1. Cool shot, I'm going to guess that the dude in the blue and yellow went straight head down shortly after this frame. Gotta love those still air exits
  2. *** What is the one "go to WS" for everything in fun flying? *** Whatever you have fun in. No matter what suit, there is always someone who "just kills it in that ...". Fly a lot, and youll learn. If you havent learned to do about everything in 200 jumps on a suit, get some coaching, if this doesnt make a difference, consider that you just might suck at wingsuiting. Its not a knock, I suck at lots of stuff. Take a trip to Lodi and fly with lots of people for cheap. Flying with others always teaches a lot more than solos. Good luck, and just pick a suit and master it. For me, its the freak, but im still working a lot on the mastry part.
  3. Are you asking about the company squirrel and their specific color of silver, or just silver material in general? Ive only seen the mega shiny silver in Dougg's video on PF and S3 era birdman suits, but im sure anyone can make a suit out of it. Its damn shiny
  4. So i felt kind of the same was for a long time. Ive been thinking more and more about building a big one piece track suit lately. The ability to sprint off an exit is appealing, as well as the instant access to toggles, which is possible in most wingsuits too, but just a little less to think about in a track suit. Watching vince track to the LZ off the KL tower which was an almost identical distance as I flew a v3 there 7 years earlier was pretty eye opening. In reply to your "since I dont BASE", then yes I kind of agree that i dont see a big point in skydiving a track suit as opposed to getting a phantom or the like. There is a small part of it too thats kind of cool when you can say "my gocart is faster than your car".
  5. Dude, quit making sense. What am I supposed to do when I'm bored at work at night???
  6. ...but that could also be because of greater $$$ incentive from mfg... sponsor gear is always the best in the world... Haha yes big corporate wingsuit giants paying money for pilots to fly their suit. Thats definitely it. I'm sure Noah and Julian couldn't get free suits from anyone else... Your other comment is 100% correct though. Andy is a freaking beast, as well as Noah, and honestly all the guys that made it to aces in general regardless of suit type. Matt g got lucky and plammer only did well due to his lack of fully functional male genitalia.
  7. Every wingsuit jump I did for 10 years. On the mega suits, a 120 would get caught in my burble even with a custom bridle and pilot chute and make opening the scariest part of the jump. I had 3 cutaways in about 16 months. The episcene I can fit a 150 in my 120 bag and the best description of the openings I can think of is they're more similar to a really comfortable base opening. Quick without being too positive. It's 100% a very niche piece of gear, but if you skydive big wingsuits a lot, it's amazing. Made me confident and happy to skydive again.
  8. So yes, the takeaway should be many of the top wingsuit pilots in the world choose squirrel. Take all those famous pilots you follow on the face books and Instagram. How many flew something else in the past and switched to squirrel vs the opposite? Also interesting is that you see all sorts of different models of suits used in base races vs performance paralog comps vs something like this. For squirrel, all the c race. Damn fun and impressive suit, and one of the easiest I've flown in a long time. Honestly, the piece of gear that was the most impressive during this event was the epicene. Many non squirrel suit pilots jumping it too, and I will never wingsuit anything else.
  9. Amazing event. Lots of good friends playing in the sky. There will be tons of media stuff coming out in the next 48 hours. Spoiler alert. Squirrel 1-4 ;)
  10. I think the most telling thing in the top 4 is you have 4 people who basically fly wingsuits for a living. Noah might be the best overall body/wingsuit/canopy pilot in the world, Julian probably is the most experienced wingsuit base jumper in the world, Jarno is one of the most active wingsuit skydivers out there, and Nate moved to chamonix to fly wingsuits full time a few years ago. Almost like the more jumps you have, the better you are at flying....
  11. And just got a text that squirrel took top 2 spots.... so no.
  12. No, we already resolved how to fix your zippers. Either cut them or just check them before you jump, or refuse to fly the suit and get companies to start using the laceup style again. Next topic.
  13. Results so far appear to show that... All the suits are about the same. 2 pf and 2 squirrels in the semis. All practice times look pretty interchangeable depending on the round. End of brand wars right?
  14. Every jump I put on this suit the more I like it. Super fun and agile. Not saying its better, worse, or different than anything else, but it sure is fun. Looking forward to my freak in a couple weeks too!
  15. Exactly, the back can move freely and wont stress the zippers with low chance of anything getting stuck. If you somehow can get a pilot chute in there ill be impressed. The front is locked into place to prevent your handles from getting sucked in.
  16. For the back zips I think this is totally fine. Can move when youre sitting but returns to the correct position as soon as you stand up and fly. They cost about $3 for 2 at REI or home depot. Size 0.
  17. https://vimeo.com/142243265 This modification provides one possible solution to zippers coming apart while sitting down on innie/outie style attachment suits. I have used this for a while, and I find that people have generally never heard of it or are afraid to try it because the idea of cutting parts of zippers seems a bit odd. I only do this to the front zippers or my suits, and use small s-biners on the back. I am not for or against future suits having tabs vs zippers, but the fact remains that a very high percentage of people reading this have this type of attachment on their suit. I think this simple modification is pretty darn important, and might even save you from having to figure out "just how head down to I need to be for my cypress to fire, but not too much that the reserve will deploy in time". I know this works on the zippers on all squirrel suits, but check your specific suits zippers before you go snipping. Sorry for the crappy wide video, and really do consider trying this.
  18. Im betting on Jeb for the WWL, duh. Not competing, and actually having been banned from jumping at the site of the WWL, I could not even pretend to know how any particular suit will do this year, because im not flying them. More of what im implying is that ill take Noah, Mike, and the Boule/Boole twins no matter what suits they happen to be flying. I dont think any of them are flying PF, so I guess we will just have to wait and see. Ive made no secret that Im not a fan of straight line wingsuit base drag racing, nor dive and flare paralog competitions.
  19. This is an issue that every manufacturer uses a similar design. All I offered is a solution (though make sure itll work on your zippers before cutting off the tabs). Every manufacturer has someone that says something. How long after someone complains about phoenix fly service or time does Jarno post? I dont think WWL will solve much. With most of the races, you can take the top 5 guys in the world and give them any suit and theyll do well. Happy a few more of them switched to squirrel since last year. ACES is going to be much more fun to fly, and way more interesting to watch.
  20. Haha, the real answer is actually no, I cant. There should be some sort of product reveal stuff from squirrel in the near future, probably shortly after Aces.
  21. Ok we've established you guys dont like this idea. So the better solution for the 98% of wingsuits out there right now that have zippers is.... to stop flying them and demand that companies start using the old laceup method again. Perfect, well done internet.
  22. Just got my first flight on mine. Insanely easy to fly and more flare than any other suit I've ever flown. Thinking strongly about making it my primary base suit instead of the aura2. Think a c2 or steroids. Some really interesting new technology in it as well.
