  1. 1st of all mr quode, SDAZ did not announce their policy on here, one of the moderators did. there was no post by Larry Hill on here, he had his chods do it. 2nd of all if you want to know my name then you can pm me and ill be more than happy two let you know. (AS IF YOU CAN'T READ MY PROFILE AND SEE WHAT MY NAME IS) and 3rd, i quit spending my money down there. it took me about 3 visits to see how the place is. if ppl's attitudes would change maybe ill go back, but if they act like you id rather stay away, if you jump naked, can you use your penis as a rudder?
  2. then go up to altitude, exit the plane, pull at 13,000ft and practice your turns, rear risers up high right over the landing area and runway. take your time and be safe. if enough ppl do it maybe someone with a brain cell might rethink the whole "low passes not economical" thinking. if you jump naked, can you use your penis as a rudder?
  3. What we all fail to see is the big issue. It's not swooping or canopy collisions its all about money. So and so is worried about going to court over a lawsuit, doesn't want to make a dedicated high performance landing area with grass, or a decent pond, and says that low passes are not economical. For a place with 8 airplanes, a wind tunnel, leasing aircraft to other DZ's, tandems, students, and up jumpers going there all year round spending their money and still 1 low pass per load is uneconomical? what exactly do they spend their money on? it sure as hell isn't spent on appearance or their website. {hint to owner; go to Raeford or CSS in N.C. and see what a respectable business establishment looks like.} as for the comment about the minority in skydiving, last time i checked and according to the monthly USPA "im on my period" bitch sessions, students and new jumpers are the minority. But of course it isn't economical to throw them to the side, since they get "ass raped" right and left, and pay the majority of your bills. it's a fucking sad day in the sport of skydiving. im quite sure that the originators would turn in their graves to hear about the shit thats going on. If it wasn't for the new age pioneers in the sport (swoopers, demo jumpers and freeflyers) this sport would have been washed up years ago. who grets media coverage and promotes the sport? not ppl that do straight in approaches under canopy. it's the demo guys doing crew or flying flags, swoopers coming in hot and heavy, and freeflyers. (remember the x-games.) you don't see joe shmo the fuck bag on his 360 manta on stunt junkies, a nationally watched television program now do you? what you have done is put in motion a possible set of outcomes that could halt the forward progress of this sport, in times where we need more ppl than ever. id send letters to the USPA, but im sure mr. money bags already has him in his pockets (like some of the more influential ppl on this websie). for those who it applies to: the next time you look in the mirror i hope you hear the words" FUCK BAG!!!!' if you jump naked, can you use your penis as a rudder?
  4. im all for seperate landing areas, but unfortunitly i cant make them, only owners can. (maybe we should be talking to them instead of babbling the subject to death here.) here are somethings i think may help things: 1.) seperate landing areas that are of the same quality. 2.) strict rules for ALL jumpers that violate the rules. 3.) ppl taking responsibility for their actions while under canopy. 4.) specialized loads im in total agreence with you about traffic patterns, landing areas ect. however i don't agree with some measures that have or may be taken. more viable and productive ideas can be found if given the chance to discuss them with ppl knowledgeable about the subject. some problems i have seen during my skydiving carreer are: 1.) sky god mentalities (ppl thinking they cant do wrong.) 2.) owners more concerned about money than safety. 3.) instructers/S&TAs that seem to have gotten ratings out of cracker jack boxes. 4.) ppl not using common sense or having any regard for other jumpers. if you can get rid of 3 out of 4 we wouldn't be having the problems we are. unfortuinitly it seems to be who you know not what you know. so we rely on attrition. it's sad but true. And I think jumpers like Jim Slation, shannon pilcher, J.C., etc have done a pretty damn good job trying to educate ppl about canopy flight. unfortuinity as with any learning environment, some ppl just won't or can't learn. if you jump naked, can you use your penis as a rudder?
  5. now this is getting kind of ridiculous. ppl that do tandems have been trained and have experience.Otherwise the USPA and manifacturers wouldn't recognizes them as tandem instructors. (unless the people that taught them skimped on the training, and if so then they are just as at fault as the instructor)yet they still make mistakes. most ppl that swoop have taught themselves because canopy piloting courses have just came around the last couple of years. at SDAZ they have a crappy little swoop lane and open desert. either/or could conflict with a landing pattern in the main landing area depending on direction of approaches. im sure the majority of the people woiuldn't mind landing away from the less experienced canopy pilots, if they had grass out there. instead of banning this or that spend some of the dz money to lay some sod. you really can't expect someone with a $2500 canopy to want to go fuck it up in the desert. (it's not like they use much money on basic upkeep like paint for the buildings.) and yes i have jumped at with way more than 400 ppl in the sky under rounds, at night, with about 80 lbs of crap strapped to me. i have seen more canopy collisions in one night than most people do in 5 years. not every one results in a fatality, but usually most result in broken bones or other serious injuries. so with that, for you to state that an area with 400 ppl it is safer than and area with 18 ppl in it is just ridiculious. one is a very congested area and one isn't even in the same ball park. don't forget the ppl making the deadly mistakes are older, more experienced jumpers. many of which probablly attended the 300 & 400 way. Obviously the mentality to do the "huge turn" was there, it either didn't happen on that date or nobody is saying anything because no one got hurt. but the same persons on those "safe bigways" are doing them still. i think a lot of ppl who are now complaining, need to do a lot of looking in the mirror. It's time for the pot to stop calling the kettle black. if you jump naked, can you use your penis as a rudder?
  6. on that point should we ban tandems? How many innocent ppl have been killed or severly injured this past year? How about AFF? How mant students have died or gotten hurt? Maybe we should ban alcohol at DZ's too. im all for seperate landing areas, but to "ban" something is going just a tad overboard. How can anyone progress if not given the chance? personally id much rather jump on a load of 18 ppl with 6 of them swooping it in, than say a 400 way attempt. (but that's safe huh?) i think it's more of a let's kiss so and so's ass so they will let us have a boogie here next x-mas than anything else. there are lot's of places around the world that would love to have professional skydivers and the best of the sport go and work, compete, and teach. move on to someplace better, where ppl jump for the love of the sport not to make a buck. if you jump naked, can you use your penis as a rudder?
  7. people are gonna break that rule right and left. Half their staff swoops in on every landing, the swoop pond is near the landing area, ect. ive been to several dz's and the jumpers that really are into swooping: pull higher than other jumpers, fly in brakes to reach their set up points, and usually have a goal like hitting the gates. What happened is " hot doggers" tried to impress their friends and got fuc#$# up, and made things harder for others. THANKS TO THE BLUE FALCONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if you jump naked, can you use your penis as a rudder?
  8. i personally think that aad's, rsl's, and the skyhook systems are great safety features. i have them on all 3 of my rigs, and am looking forward to seeing more safety related advancements to come in the near future. it is also the responsibility of jumpers to realize that these items are additions on safety in genereal and should not be used as primary safety devices, they are backups of the backups. i have come across many jumpers that say "this is my aad, rsl, and skyhook all in one" while staring at their hands. If thats all they feel they need, than I am perfectly fine jumping with them and do not critize them in any way. It's their life to live not mine. i like having options in case I may make a mistake and have a "brain fart" others dont. reguardless, i dont bitch and preach at them as I don't want them bitching and preaching at me. you made the choice to have or not have these extra safety decisions, now you have to live with the consenquences. if you jump naked, can you use your penis as a rudder?
  9. of course everyone on this website likes eloy, they held the dz.com boogie there!!!! there are several places in Az to learn how to skydive, many much cheaper then eloy. the tunnel usually isn't necessary unless you have a horrible body position, the instructers are the same caliber of instructers as any other dz in the world, but they do have grass. but a student should try to land somewhere safe when learning how to skydive and not aim for small pieces of soft stuff near buildings/wind tunnel and such. (my opinion of course) but when you get off student status and need to make some coach jumps, go to eloy if you want to get ass raped and pay for a coaches slot plus pay $35 dollars for their time and pack jobs. if it was me i would not learn how to skydive from a place that only cares about $$$$$$$. if you jump naked, can you use your penis as a rudder?
  10. the smoke you see is most likely not their target and most likely not the place they are attempting to land. rather id say it was put out as a marker to let the jumpers under canopy know the wind direction. the round cargo chutes you see are most likely a zodiac boat with a motor and possibly their gear also. the jumper is not jumping a round (no static line and wrong way to exit.) and hes probablly wearing scuba gear because even thogh hes jumping a ram air canopy and might be able to land really close to the cargo chutes, he still going to have to do some swimming especially when hes dragging his parachute through the water. the military doesnt look very highly on lost gear and he sure as hell doesnt make enough money a month to buy that rig. last but not least, i really doubt its a rescue mission. it would be a lot smarter to use a helicopter, helo cast in, rescue the ppl then get pulled back on the helicopter to go to land. i mean come on do you think their gonna land the plane in the water to pick them up? if you jump naked, can you use your penis as a rudder?
  11. the army uses rounds to deploy troops to otherwise hard to get to locations at a low altitude. (Ex: Panama & Grenada 500ft (+/-) on to enemy airfields. by special operations soldiers.) and to give soldiers confidence in themselves and equiptment. during the 1st Gulf War there was a parachute jump in a secure location as a show of force. in the war in Iraq there were at least 3.( the 173rd jumped into a secure location.) the reasons the army uses rounds was already brought up and answered, because it's easy to train and they come pretty much straight down.(depending on the wind) the army does have somewhat steerable rounds(dash 10's) usually used for special operation personal. (they are more inclined not to run into each other) other than that you have to go to military freefall school to play with the fun chutes. if you jump naked, can you use your penis as a rudder?
  12. nevermind if you jump naked, can you use your penis as a rudder?
  13. you said that this wasn't B.A.S.E. related and that "we"should have fun. so........ A few questions. (are you hunting?) if not then....Whats wrong with you? (i hope thats not a g-friend.) {you can buy blow up sheep and rams at your local sex-store. unless your from W VA of course, then it may just be your neighbor or cousin.} and lastly.. ARE YOU HUNTING ????????? if not then............................... damn. I would've S-H-O-T that MU$%ER FU*#ER, then maybe jumped. (if I was into that sort of thing.) if you jump naked, can you use your penis as a rudder?
  14. um lets see... i can name one off the bat (chris) who broke both his legs on a rage 120. yes he was doing a high proformance landing, and yes the winds may have played a part. 2.) i put quite a few jumps on the rage myself and didn't like the flare. (and i injured myself too.) i was not bad mouthing the canopy whatsoever. as a matter of fact i think i said the openings were great for videographers. as for the 270-360 openings quite possibly it was my packing and/or body position, but i havent had one on the other two yet, so i guess well see. {also hint hint thats why i suggested he go see a dealer/rigger with almost 30+ years of experence and talk to him if he was still in the area.} if you jump naked, can you use your penis as a rudder?
  15. i have owned and/or jumped a rage 185, 170, 150, 120 and i curently own a crossfire 2 119. their both great for flying video, hence their gonna open and open soft. every rage ive jumped i would do a 270-360 turn on opening. the cf2 it one of the best opening canopies i have owned (other than my colbalt). i didn't like the flare on the rage, sometimes it seemed non existent, and have seen several ppl break bones because of it. if your still at Ft. Bragg go to the sport parachute center and talk to the rigger there. his name is gregg. hes a rage dealer and should still have demos there. he also put a number of jumps on the crossfire & colbalt, so hes the one to talk to. if you jump naked, can you use your penis as a rudder?
