  1. Sorry for the double post, I appreciate the observation, but John was loved by a lot of people, I just expected more responses. Thank you Wendy. Warmest Regards, Dean
  2. Only 7 replies to a legend in this sport is absolutely heartbreaking! I am devastated by the lack of compassion for Agnes and her family. God Speed Agnes...

  4. John was a Brother to me, I am fucking devastated to hear this, jumped at Cross Keys for a few years, we became great friends, I checked him out in the Astar so he could fly ENG for NBC Philadelphia, I told him the media assholes sucked, 2 years later he said to me "these media assholes suck"! WTF happened? This totally breaks my heart... God Speed John, my prayers are with your daughters and your family. This just sucks,
  5. I knew Dave, we drank beers together sometime when I was at the Herd Boogies, I will never forget his signature laugh! God Speed, Dave
  6. A good friend and a class guy, my heart hurts, I jumped with him many times at Cross Keys... God Speed Steve! Anyone have details on how He passed away?
  7. I'm sorry no one replied. Your compassion for another human being is acknowledged, at least by me. Life is not fair, I will say a prayer for a stranger that meant a lot to you tonight... VMO

  11. The older I get, the more I miss the people who affected my life in such a positive way... God Speed Chris Bickerdyke
  12. God Speed Michael, we had quite a few jumps together over the years. I no longer jump, but I will cherish the memories of guys like Mike and the awesome skydives we had together.
  13. WOW! Always a smile, did some bigger stuff with Burt, In your memory my Friend, a prayer and I raise a glass to you who had so much class... God Speed
  14. I jumped with Tom, A big dude physically and spiritually, a person I respected and admired. Tom was in the back of a glider that landed in Arnhem, Belgium on D-day. He didn't jump in Normandy, he set me straight one night at the fire during a Herd gathering. I was honored to know and jump with Tom. My prayers are with you and your family Tom. God Speed and God Bless.
  15. To Tony and Caryn, I knew Chris at Bragg in '81 when I had just started jumping. We became close friends until I went to Ft. Rucker. I kind of lost touch after that. Chris was a lot of fun to party with and a really talented guy, but he was also a genuine, decent Human Being. And I know we would still be good friends today. As I sit here in sunny Florida on Easter Sunday, not being able to jump because my cypress is in Germany, I thank God that people like Chris affected my life in such a positive way... Warmest Regards, God Speed Dean Austin [email protected]
  16. Blue Skies and God Speed to Chris... VMO
  17. I knew Chris at Bragg in '81. He would let me use his racer w/ an rw pc before I got my rig. We were good friends, and he was a talented guy. Glad to see someone else remembers him... Thanks.

    CERPS Gap-Tallard

Just spent a few days at Gap-Tallard. While I only made 3 jumps, It was a memorable experience. The scenery is incredible, great aircraft, and the staff is exceptional. I would like to thank Antoine, Valerie, and Kevin for making me feel welcomed. Bring your own RW team as you may not find a lot of RW jumpers, usually team training, wingsuits, and students while I was there. Gap-Tallard is highly recommended.
  19. I've met you dude, I am also former 82d, and she is out there... Although I agree that the Ego is for better or worse, the "Fountaihead of human progress" if you check out the Ayn Rand Institute, which I did, you will find a globalist, UN type, pro choice, Anti American slant. If you agree and like it, embrace it. I am not drinking their Kool-aid... VMO
  20. Kelly, Thanks for doing this... To the family of Reed Michael Loeschke, words are just too hollow to really convey the emotion we feel about our loss of Reed and PJ. I was there that day and watched the police escort a young woman who was there with Reed to the scene. I watched her walk out of there knowing what had happened, I know what I felt watching her leave and it tore me up, I can speak for all of us there that day, words can't describe how emotionally painful it was. We can't change anything now, but our prayers are with your family and friends of PJ and Reed, only God and time can put some distance on this tragedy. Warmest Regards and God Speed You are not alone in our loss,
  21. I smoked a rather large spliff on the way out to Raeford one fine summer morning. Had borrowed team gear to do some accuracy. Now this was a wnderhog w/a belly band, standard weight cloud, tricon reserve w/ open vents, no aad. As I was completely stoned now, I decided to pop the container and check the pack job. When I closed it, I misrouted the bridle and packed a pilot chute in tow. I exited the airplane at 2200 ft, no suit, just an accuracy load. I dumped about two grand and fought w/ the pilot chute for about 1,500 ft. Finally I got stable, pulled a ripcord, and saw this red white and blue nylon "telephone pole" coming straight off my back. I looked down and knew I was gonna die. The reserve opened, pretty hard as I remember, cause I lost a sneaker, then I hit the ground. The canopy ride lasted about three seconds. That was the last time...
