  1. I got to see one of the prototypes in September. Everything looks top notch. High quality and based on watching Matt's flight from the exit point I'd say the proformance is excellent. Fastest start I've ever witnessed on a BASE jump. If you think this is the suit you want I wouldn't hesitate. You won't be disappointed.
  2. Thats good to hear. much better deal. lodi is a lot of fun. i regret having not made it back out there.
  3. $40-$50 is a pretty standard rate.... if your jumping a turbine helicopter. B206/MD500/B206L all run 30-40 gallons/hr Jet fuel. an R-44 runs 18 gallons/hr of av-gas. it's hard to put a price tag on fun.... esp when it is sitting on the ramp waiting to be jumped. just shocked me a little to think they are making $675/hr for a R-44. most schools charge around $450/hr these days with operating cost at about $175-$200/hr
  4. $45 for 5k in an R-44? did they fill all three seats? if they filled three i hope you got some wrist action to go with your ticket cause you got jacked and the pilot/operator is loving life. if they only filled two seats tell the pilot to take less fuel and man up. your at 49' msl for gods sake.

  6. having spent 15 years in the sport and knowing Andi for the last 8 years. he is on top of his game and one of the top jumpers in the world over the last 2 years. he is way behind the normal flight position and looked to me like he nursed the takeoff. no discredit to him for having the balls to try this but he was along for the ride on that one. many years ago a guy sewed some wings to a jump suit and started kicking some ass. it took F.I.S about .003 seconds to make that illegal. wingsuits are fun but try pulling 7 seconds off a ramp that hangs down 10 degrees....and landing without a parachute. 7. Brendan, not sure that picture is appropriate for this website Attached is better pic of it Come over to the dark side… we have cookies
  8. its really easy.... make sure the aircraft is approved for flight with doors off. make a note on the running weight and balance that the door has been removed and adjust CG. any competent pilot should be able to do this in about 5 min. that said if your not in a busy area just pop the door and send it or do what i do... politely close the door and wave to the heli pilot as you leave the skids
  9. jumping that aircraft should not be a problem. YOU need to be vary careful exiting. just fall away don't push/jump. with a piston engine and your weight i would keep etl. with the rotor wash you can't tell the difference anyway and the weight change will be easier to control and less noticable. as for left or right seat it varies with different aircraft. hughes/md set up for left seat PIC. some can only be solo from right seat due to weight/balance and control input limts(robinson). other are set up for whatever side the customer orders. many utility aircraft used for external load are set up for left seat. its easier to lean over instead of away from the collective.
  10. being a pilot helped me a lot. some things carry over some do not. remember all the stupid stuff your students do that make you shake your head and wonder.... you just became that guy again. keep an open mind and you will be fine.

  12. wingsuit with less then 200 jumps? guilty. buzzing with 100 jumps. negative. opening closer to tandem then the TI was comfortable with. once. yes (his airspace, my fault. pulled below him. never heard of a malfunction causing gain in alt. but his airspace my fault) never hit open canopy. wrong guy. camera less then min? yup paid at same dz and numbers as you started with. My list of faults is many and open. my point is spot needs to get off his high horse. i'm sick of reading post that contradict himself depending on who is involved. maybe a little less name dropping at the dz and more practice not deploying your parachute out the door of the plane while still in it?
  13. WOW this is knee deep in hypocricy. Spot go back and read your posts in the "should minimums apply to me thread"..... Oh wait in this case the guy is famous
  14. Are you a flight instructor? do you have twin time? make sure you get your MEI and go build hours like 95% of everyone else in aviation. when you hit 1,000 hours get some real world flying(and turbine time) under your belt then head back to the DZ. at 500 hours flying pic in a twin turbine with the cg shifts of jump run flying near the stall point..... not the best ideas.
  15. Race was one of my best friends. i was with him or in the plane for most of his jumps. i was not with him in moab and sadly never got to fly a wingsuit with him. What we know... Race jumped a wingsuit not meeting minimum recommendations: fact Race was alert and stable at breakoff: fact The FAA said all of his gear was in normal working order: Fact He suffered a medical condition in flight: we are waiting for the ME to return the blood work and issue a final report. The wingsuit lead to his death: unknown, never will. Following the minimum recommendations for wingsuits he would still be with us: Unknown. see above. It is human nature to want to explore, understand and learn from things like this. I've learned a great deal about myself, my firends and the way i choose to live my life over the last 10 days. i have personally broken some of the recommendations and followed others. i have been on both sides of the fence telling someone not to jump and encouraging someone a little early. i'm not perfect but who are we kidding, neither are you. step back for a second and ask yourself if you can honestly say you have never broken a rule. maybe pulled a little low, hooked a little late or got to the ground and thought to yourself "got away with that one" i'm in no way justifying breaking the rules but instead of finding a reason to point fingers and distance yourself believing this can't happen to you step up knowing that you, i or a best friend could be next no matter what risk/ precautions we take. check yourself because it starts there and spreads. i know i have. if you wish to mention Race in your post please stick to the facts. if you wish to post as the thread name implies have at it.
