Trust me if you go outside down here on a regular basis and have a fair amount of melanin in your skin you can look hispanic quite easily. -
kallend*********Depends on how big you require "we" to be.
Last time I checked I'm a U.S. Citizen residing in the U.S. and I can't a) buy a gun from a private party without going through a dealer with a background check b) buy a gun without a safety written test and practical demonstration and registering it c) buy a 22 pistol that has a threaded barrel cause it's an "assault weapon" d) own a suppressor e) buy a handgun without waiting 10 days f) buy more than one handgun every 30 days g) buy a magazine that holds over ten rounds h) store a firearm in such a way that a child or prohibited person could get to it i) obtain a ccw permit j) transport a firearm without it being unloaded and locked in a container k) buy a handgun not on an approved list that you can no longer add guns to
Since Sandy Hook? I've already posted threads about the new laws, some only proposed, some passed and signed.
Some of the above is reasonable, some is ridiculous. None of it is "nothing."
"We" would be the USA. Mass shootings are not limited to just one city or state. Local laws are so easily circumvented as to be just theater.
because chicago is doing such a sterling job.
Chicago is doing a whole lot better than many large cities in the south, such as Baton Rouge, Memphis, Atlanta, Little Rock, Birmingham...
www.neighborhoodscout.com/neighborhoods/crime-rates/top100dangerous/
Or are you defining them as "the south side"?
Look at this picture I attached. I'm sure the only explanation you can come up with is that cold weather causes murder. Splain that lucy. -
Andy9o8***The entire flag ordeal is just silly.
Get over it already.
There are about 9 million African-Americans in the US who, thanks largely to the way the Confederate flag has been co-opted by certain white racists as a symbol of their racism, feel viscerally about the Confederate flag just as, say, Jews feel about the Swastika, a 1,000 year-old symbol that was co-opted by the Nazis. So while it might be rational for you to wish, for ethically sound reasons, for people to get over it, that's simply not going to happen, at least probably not in your or my lifetime.
How the fuck do you know what's going to happen in his lifetime? Do you plan on killing him because he opposes your whiney politically correct bullshit?
Get over it. -
clearly you support rapists. or perhaps you blindly support him just because he's black and all white people are racist...which makes you a racist. -
devildogWhere there's smoke, there's fire.
Personally I think the cosby show should be removed from TV. If the higher ups are going to remove the dukes of hazzard because of a fucking flag on a CAR, then clearly leaving the cosby show on TV says its totally A OK to drug and rape women.
Here is some of the severe 'intolerance' you'll see on the dukes of hazzard.

stayhighPistol? Shotgun? Rifle? Auto/Semi/Manual? Do you want affordable ammos or really expansive ammos?
So many to choose from.
I think pump action shotgun should be the first firearm everyone should get. Easy and reliable, and if you have a trap/skeet range near by that is really fun thing to do.
Shooting at paper target with a handgun at a target range isn't a thing for me. I like it when I split the clay in half and shoot the bigger half with the remainder. To really have fun doing trap/skeet, you might wanna get a over and under.
Benelli. not too expensive, not too cheap. I like how it operates.
Far as handguns go,, revolver style? or semi-auto?
Springfield XD. I like those. That really depends on your hand size. You are gonna have to go and hold it in your hand.
Not too expensive? you must be rich. And I have a Springfield XDM 9mm pistol that is 19+1. I like the pistol but I dislike the extraordinarily long trigger pull. If you get one get a trigger job. -

christelsabine***Well enlighten us with the rest of them then. I will say that the point you brought up about a nationwide database of persons who a professional mental health doctor has diagnosed as not being able to have a gun should exist, and enforced. What are the other solutions from you I missed that you said you have already stated in this thread?
Things you suggested
-make laws have more stringent penalties and put more people in jail
Stricter laws do not work if that were the case people would never make it to their third strike knowing the harshness of the next level
-don't let people with confirmed mental illnesses have guns
Great point I like this one now how do you ensure they have no guns once you have the registered ones
-revoke gun rights for those who have new diagnosis.
Who exactly is in charge of this?
- also jail people who let someone who is have a gun
How do we go about this exactly?
Things you have not addressed
-guns the authorities did not know the person had
-street bought guns
-straw purchases
-stealing firearms
-normal legally owned firearm holders who instantly snap over a spontaneous situation(rape/divorce/fired/etc) with no previous criminal or mental illness.
Get rid of NRA. First and most important step.
Not gonna happen. The nra consists of millions of law abiding citizens. Including me. Just worry about your own country. -
that_guyJust to be clear. I don't know any of you personally. I rather enjoy the banter of this section. No hard feelings on my part. Why would i be frustrated about such things when i have a weekend full of fun with my friends at the dropzone planned?
just sayin.. you guys/gals are all ok in my book.
This should be an indicator of what actually happens in a firearms registration scheme.

I'm guessing you're referring to me, yet it's impossible to tell for sure.
So you aren't the chubby guy from cheers? -
Amazon***I'm usually pretty good at this but I really can't decide here.
It's so outrageous that it can't be true but it's so unfunny that it can't be satire. Does this guy mean it, like, for real?
From a group worried that white people are disappearing from the planet?????
Its all the fault of the liberals... and just for further insight..... just read the other articles....
Perhaps this is different spinoff of the onion. Just last week I read an article about Tony romo having ovarian cancer. -
Nevermind you're including suicide and firearm accidents to get your number.
Studies place the instances of guns used in personal defense as low as 65,000 times per year, and as high as 2.5 million times per year. Under President Clinton, the Department of Justice conducted a survey in 1994 that placed the usage rate of guns used in personal defense at 1.5 million times per year, but noted this was likely to be an overestimate -
Show your source on this supposed magical 30,000 people killed fallacy. -
billvon>And, removing guns from the control variables allows one to be more vulnerable to
>being murdered.
But will allow more children to be killed through gun accidents.
There is no one good solution.
Oh for fucks sake. Not another 'for the children' argument. -
It's like the stories you hear on the grenade range of idiots pulling the pin on the grenade and throwing the pin and dropping the grenade. There will always be complete dumbasses in all walks of life. It's sad 90% of the population has to modify their lives to suit the 10% of dumbasses in this country.

quade***One thing is for sure the Donald is a master business leader. His numbers speak for themselves.
He has gone bankrupt running a CASINO.
Uh . . . If you can't make money running a casino, you're a horrible businessman.
Yet he still has more money than both of us together. Gotta be doing something right. -
I'm sure back then you could have a rifle in a gunrack in your truck with a deer on the hood and pull up to the local high school and the principal would come out to admire your rifle and count the points on the antlers.
Back when I graduated there were no armed security. No metal detectors. A few years after I graduated a kid brought a gun to school and another kid murdered my algebra teacher because she failed him. Damn I miss the 80's. -

QuoteDonald Trump mocks John McCain's military record as war hero, drawing swift GOP rebukes
DDonald Trump, who has spent weeks at or near the top of the Republican presidential primary polls, mocked Sen. John McCain's war record as a POW in Vietnam on Saturday, drawing immediate condemnation from some of his GOP opponents.
“He’s a war hero because he was captured,” Trump said in Iowa, referring to McCain, an Arizona Republican who spent more than five years as a prisoner of war in North Vietnam. “I like people who weren't captured."
Source: http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-trump-mccain-20150718-story.html
Seriously? Fuck you, Trump. Fuck you.
I might not agree with everything McCain has to say about every topic, but I highly respect the man and what he went through.
Fuck you. Fuck you. Fuck you, Trump.
What's most bewildering is the attention he's getting with his outrageous statements. He's made the top headline with this statement in many news outlets, including BBC.
Isn't it best just to ignore him -- or at least cover him as HuffPo will?
I'm pretty sure he realized from the beginning he had no chance. He's using the media as a pulpit to get his shots in and take heat off other GOP candidates. Of course all of this is shher speculation until some prime candidates emerge from the primaries. One thing is for sure the Donald is a master business leader. His numbers speak for themselves. -
I was referring to when I was active duty at fort Polk, LA during the mid 90's. Of course like you said it could have changed since then. But there are lots of national guard and deserve stations. Kinda hard to guard a place that only gets troops in full force one weekend a month. -
Roger that. This is in my hometown.

I personally know..er...knew someone training to be in an army ranger batallion and was going to fail out of his training cycle. His brother passed the training and I guess he didn't want to live as a 'failure'. He snuck a round in his pocket from the range and when he got back to the barricks he blew his head off. Another girl from my unit had left to fort bragg. Her husband was very possessive and he left fort polk and drove to bragg. He somehow got into her housing unit and waited for her to get back. He stabbed her over 20 times and she ran out and collapsed in the yard. He ran out the door and an MP heard all the hubub. They chased him several miles where he miscalculated a turn and directly impacted a bridge at a high rate of speed and killed himself. She lived somehow. I will say this. In the 90's we were not allowed to have our rifle unless we were in the field. But what was most troubling was the lack of real security entering the base. Many, many times we just drove right past the guards without them even looking at us. I say we need to get better training for the guards and stop everyone coming in/out and for the recruiters at least get some type of national CHL for recruiters. Give them an option to carry...even in gun restrictive places like new york, and LA. -
DanGQuoteSarcasm dude. As stated one was a war hero. I think if they had am M-4 instead of a sign, the results would have been different
My point was that the "Gun Free Zone" was not in place because the Marines are anti-gun lefty nutjobs, which is the common place people are getting ready to go when they bring up the gun free zone thing.
Most likely, the Marines decided that having recruiters armed would not lead to the welcoming atmosphere they are trying to promote at a recruiting station. On most military bases, soldiers/sailors/airmen/Marines are not allowed to have privately owned weapons in their residences. The DoD has decided that the risk of suicide/accident/fratricide is higher than the risk of the base being attacked. So far, they are right.
The individual marines didn't get to decide jack squat. That was DOD mandated. -
