    so what happened?...

    1. did you buy it?, and 2. did you get what you described?

3...if #1 and #2 are "yes", where did you get it?B|

    All went well,
I bought it and it was just as desrcibed.
Got it on ebay:)Ebay has great deals yet they also have duds so do your homework!! I bought my TRV-900 off ebay for a great price in 1998 and it is still running strong after many skydives and countless BASE jumps, some being not so delicate on the equipment[:/]
Keep your eyes open, when I was looking at this one ther were 4 up for sale at the same time from different people.

  2. Eric,
thanks for the info! Now that I have seen the top of that one structure I most definatly want to jump it! Are you up for an undercover mission?? I can hear the mission impossible music playing softly in the background:P

Let me know your schedule so we can get a plan together...if you're game:)
    Peace,

Warning to all: The local for this jump has requested that all information about it stay off the internet until after it's done. I will aggressively remove posts giving any information about the jump before Monday.

I don't think anyone wants to give this one away yet:)I just hope there is a really good plan in place and everyone involved sticks to it. It has the potential to be grand or grave(no pun intended)! But then again don't all jumps???

    please be safe!

  4. yep.... Snow that turned to a fine layer of ice.
At least all over north Raleigh. Everywhere there was a hill people were in the ditch. Hwy 1 was a madhouse, my neighbor left Franklinton at 1pm and hadn't made it to Durant Rd. in North Raleigh by 8pm:o
i'm sure it's all over the news stations but with no tv I can't really check nor do I want to.

  5. I have found a new Sony pc330 for $860.00 and was just wondering what everyone else paid and if this is a good deal or not. From the other research I have done it seems to be a good price. :)Thanks

  6. Is this the right way to use clamps?
    :o
515 sent me this picture a while ago and I just wanted to make sure he was using them correctly.

Happy 500th jump bro, wish I had been there. Uninjured so far speaks volumes... although you only jump that easy shit:P

"Few creatures of the night have captured our imagination like vampires.
What explains our enduring fascination with vampires?
What is it about the vampire myth that explains our interest?
Is it the overtone of sexual lust, power and control?
Or is it a fascination with the immortality of the undead?
And what dark and hidden parts of our psyche are aroused and captivated
by the legends of the undead, by the legends of the undead,
by the legends of the undead.
The mystery of the undead will continue to fascinate the living."

    Nice!

  8. What's a good telephoto lens for the Canon 20D? Won't be used for skydiving. Will be used for other shots including ground shots for BASE. Want that up close and personal look from long distances. How about a good macro or wide angle lens suggestion too.

    Thanks

I use a TSG bmx helmet and a 661 Full Carbon downhill MTB helmet for BASE jumps, as both of these offer significant impact protection.

Just buy a bullet cam and stick it on a helmet that is good for protection, it's an easy solution that will also prevent a sore neck from camera weight and or riser strikes.

Does the bullet cam have the same quality as the normal camera set up? What type of lens is on it? Are others available?

    Thanks,

  10. Does anyone know if Go Fast had insurance at their event in CO? It would seem like it would be required by the R.Gorge people don't ya think?
OK say the insurance part can be worked out, so how would you go about convincing the object owner to allow an event to take place? What benefits, other than monetary, can the object owner be enticed with? Or does it all come back to money?

    Thanks

  11. What are some of the hurdles we need to overcome to host a legal BASE event in the US? How do we overcome these obstacles? How are events like the Royal Gorge able to be conducted??? What kind of permissions, insurance or permits are needed? Are there special considerations needed for objects like buildings or antennas?

    Thanks

  12. I have opened(not thrown out) below 200ft from terminal on many occasions. I think the shortest canopy ride I have had from terminal was around 5-6 seconds.
Once you start to do these jumps with frequency you are (or think you are) able to dial in your openings to within 20-30ft and I found myself pushing it more to the edge and pulling lower and lower as I did more of these. Then there came a point when I realized that these jumps relied on a perfect case scenario where everything goes correctly and I know that many times things can happen; a PC hesi or a half second bobble will kill you very easily, so I raised my opening alt's. Now, I'm under canopy by 200-300 ft on most terminal jumps, although I might drift back into the zone and hum it down on occasion as well:ph34r:

    Happy New Year!

  13. Yardage pro 800 is the only way to go. It is the only one with the backlit display which is invaluable on night jumps. I bought mine in 2000 and have no problems. I guess by now they might have others that have the backlit display but make sure you get it!

I've been let go several times, usually because I look and dress like the cop who caught me, speak politely, and present myself well. Every little bit counts in those kinds of situations.

I've heard of ton of these stories about people getting a talking to, a simple ticket, or just a "Hey man, that was cool!". Later that night they find themselves sleeping in their own beds. With my luck, I'd end up spending approx. 16 hours in jail until I was bailed out.

Do most of these "let go" stories originate from when the cop actually sees the jump and confronts the jumper (no one called in a complaint)? Or do people have these stories even when someone called 911 and the air unit shows up with their 10 gazillion watt spotlight? Has anyone experienced a ton of commotion caused by a complaint and then been let go?

on my bust in Mexico, they cleared out a whole hotel and brought in bomb sniffing dogs... or thats what they told me at the time. It was about a month or two after 9/11 so people were a little 'jumpy';). I'm pretty sure it was called in by a hotel guest who believed I was a terrorist. I was detained for a few hours and then released to just make my flight back to the states. I was let go with the help of the american consulate who explained to them that there were no 'no tresspassing' signs and I didn't do any damage to any doors, locks, railings or the roof. And I didn't look like a terrorist which, as stated previously, might have helped. Also, they kept asking me if I had a license to jump. I thought about it and then pulled out my USPA card:o which quieted that question! I was going to send the story to USPA but somehow I didn't think they would've appreciated it! THANKS USPA FOR GETTING ME OUT OF BASE JAIL!!
