No word on whether it will screen in OZ yet either[:/]

I posted this in a different thread but will also put here...

In order to be seen in more theaters then it needs to do well in the theaters listed. It's how smaller films get into more theaters. It's actually pretty extraordinary that it was picked up by larger companies. Universal, Magnolia Pictures and CNN films bought partial rights so they are in charge of what theaters it's shown in(mainly Landmark to start) and how it's distributed. Magnolia get first dibs at placing the film in the US, then it will be shown in select theaters in other countries, probably starting in Norway since they had a large part in production and have money into it. After it makes the rounds in smaller theaters worldwide then CNN Films will be showing it on their platform and then it will be available On Demand and DVD.
I would suggest seeing it on the big screen so as to experience the full effect of the awesome footage both from Carl and the new shots in Norway and it will also help to show that more markets can support the film.

Maybe contacting Magnolia Pictures might do some good trying to get it in certain theaters or finding Landmark Theaters and contacting them and telling them to contact Magnolia to get the film.... Or talk to Mark Cuban since he owns Landmark and Magnolia. ;)

  2. Honestly if you want a fast, easy, nutrient dense meal then take about 8-10 grams each of spirulina and chlorella. They are extremely nutrient dense and inexpensive. They contain more protein by weight(~60-70%) than a steak and it's more bio-available too. You can easily travel with them, they don't require refrigeration, can come in tablet for if you don't like the powdered drink.
This is the brand I take...

Another product I have been using for a few years is Synchro Genesis. I put 2 TBS of hemp seed and a scoop of this in a mason jar with coconut water, shake it and enjoy. Great for travel too. It's way better for you than that Soylent stuff, which has little food actually in it! Synchro is organic and if you compare it's nutrient profile it's probably cheaper.

At one time I made a huge spreadsheet of many of the meal replacement products and all of their ingredients so I could compare... I'll see if I can find it.

  6. Sad news...:(
I met Pete about 14 years ago... I always enjoyed talking with him and hearing of his travels through Europe and other adventures. His advice, smiling face and friendly attitude will be remebered... as well as a few nifty tricks he passed along to me:)
I know he's flying the shit out those new wings he has.

As Harry said... you were one cool MF!

... Alas, it was not to be. Those flatbed bums (several of whom are now good friends) blew it for us.

El Cap was shut down for many reasons, the "flatbed incident" being only one, albeit the biggest.
During the Cliff jumping program there were approx 10 injuries/incidents ranging from false bee stings to broken bones, wall strikes to cutaways.
There were also approx 10 infractions of park regulations during the Jumping program. These infractions were mainly jumping outside of permit hours but also included a few "driving on closed roads"

    Nick,
I have heard the story over and over but no names go with it. Statute of Limitations is up in the skydive world! Names!
    PM me of course!;)

    They are...
    J.D.
    G.G
    C.W.
    M.K.
    R.P.
    R.T.
    J.M.
    D.M.
    R.C.

Nick guessed one... anyone else want to guess?

Actually the "flatbed 10" was a truck that had some 20 people on it. Only 10 were charged that helped to remove the barricade.

  9. Hi Jerry!! Hope you are well!

Here is a good story... not mine but still :P

August 25, 1980: Five jumpers came off El Cap late at 8:45am. One of these jumpers hit ranger Darren's horse with his canopy, spooking the horse. She had to dismount to calm the animal. The U.S. Magistrate partially accepted their explanation that they were delayed by Blue Schwabe's accident. They were given three months probation and $25 fine, suspended on all five.

    Yo Harry:

Thanks a lot for the info! You jumped El Cap exactly three weeks before I did. (Gee, I wonder how many 'virgins' went off in between and were added to the EC# list before me?)

I already had a permit to go back for a 2nd El Cap jump. It was only a few days later, but, alas, it was not to be; NPS had shut us down by then.

Nick D. You were exactly correct; the people jumping El Cap that summer weren't really BASE jumpers at all. We were just a bunch of yahoo skydivers who thought we were off on a lark in the park.

    Good memories!

    Jerry

  10. Justin you are soooo dreamy, why wouldn't I want to do a 2 way with you? I miss our late night jaunts ;)

Seriously... are you BASE jumping anymore?

    Jason

ps-I was just giving you shit for giving Keith shit for giving someone else shitB|

Hey Matt... How ya doing??? I noticed in your profile that your "discipline of choice" is freeflying. Unsure

I think we need to take you on a good 10-20 point 4-way RW jump SmileTongueCoolso you have a good point of reference to consider before comit to the duldroms of 2-4 point freefly divesCrazyUnsure

I'm not knockin' free-flyingPirate (I'm actually proficient at feet down)Crazy, but good belly flying is amazing! LaughLaughLaugh

In fact, I think all new skydivers should really learn what belly flying is aboutWink before quicky turning to free flying... The rush after a 10 point 4-way jump is far better than the satisfaction of your first 2 point sitfly jump... just my opinion... but WTF do I know

I did about 250 RW jumps before converting to freeflying, and then made about 400 freefly jumps. At that point I thought I'd give RW a try again. I knocked out about 40 jumps with a bootie suit and all. There I was at about noon at CSS having just landed after a four way jump. I remember thinking to myself, "if I don't cut this boring shit out I'm going to end up quitting skydiving". I never went back. If you think about it though the rush you get from a good freefly jump should be more rewarding because it costs about $20,000 more just to be able to take docks head-up or head-down. I know if it wasn't rewarding I'd of killed myself after spending that kind of money :o

    Justin....
it's really too bad that you can't get past basic levels of proficiency in either discipline:P
Sorry it's so boring for ya, you must not be apllying yourself. I found that most people that quit RW and took up freeflying, did so because they couldn't get any better at it and got frustrated. Which, is normal in humans.... they can't do something well, so they stop doing it and start to rip on it by saying that it is no fun.
RW IS fun and so is freeflying.:)
    Freefly snob:P

    Jason

ps- have you quit BASE too because it was boring?

  12. Really weak BASE scene. [:/]

Dude ends up with what looks like a paraglider.....
These hollywoood people can spend millions on a movie but can't do 15 minutes of research on this?

Of course it WAS a fictitious building, a sweet one though!

  13. For me it depends on my exit altitude if I will make the jump or not. Lower altitude jumps with wind down the wire I'm not a fan of and will usually climb down. Although one way to eliminate the wires would be to open below the last wire.
HIgher jumps are not really a problem since you can gain some airspeed and get away from the object. You can always track at a slight angle to keep your self in the middle of the quadrant... I would just use the something on the ground as a reference.
Exiting from an "a" at an angle, in my opinion, is not a good idea because it is not a 'normal' exit for us to perform and is subject to greater mistakes.... especially when you're nervous from the winds to start with. You probably won't be getting as far away from the "a" too with this type of push-off. Plus I'm thinking that heading performance will suffer more from having the winds coming across your body at a 90degree angle rather than coming more or less from behind you. You have more chance of a line over with a short delay and winds from behind though so choose which you'd like:P
One positive would be that winds down the wire are not going to push you into the wires they will only bring you closer to them and away from the main object, although I believe the wires are the 'main' object once you leave a guyed tower!

    Jason

ps- on tall towers with winds down the wire I would only climb down if I thought the winds were a factor in making a LZ. But I can usually make that determination before I get to exit altitude.

"Line dump" won't cause a hard opening on a go and throw. Think T.A.R.D. That's real line dump. (ok, so there's no air speed)

Are you not falling a lot faster on a go and throw by the time the canopy is inflating? Would this not cause a harder opening than a TARD with zero airspeed?

  16. Quote

Flik'd a lowish coastal S last night with my Perigee 2/Flik 266 Vtech/46" Toxic PC. 1/2 second delay tops. Exited slightly head high if anything.

    Had a violent opening, felt like a 3+ second delay...combined with a 90 left.

Any ideas what could lead to a hard opening with such a short delay???

Line dump? Hows the velcro on your TP?

Why the hell would I want to play a BASE jumping game and be Felix??

I doubt very much that people who are actually out making real, physical world BASE jumps are the target market for any BASE jumping video game.

    I know I'm just pissed I didn't get the contract:P

On a different note... does this game allow for rigging errors? Do you start off with a dolphin container and have to get the skillz before you can trade up? Can you take objects with you in freefall? Can you do big ways? Rollovers? etc.?

Just wondering how realistic it is.

  18. Why the hell would I want to play a BASE jumping game and be Felix??

I think I would rather play a game that had ME as the jumper or a non-descript humanoid figure or better yet how about making the jumpers animals or cartoon figures.... anything but Felix:S
