  3. If so who? I've had my identity swiped twice. Neither time did they get much and my bank recouped my expenses. Thinking about signing up to a credit watch agency just in case. Anyone have suggestions on who they use or which ones to stay away from? "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. 5. I have some friends outside of Johannesburg in the Peace Corps....they are wanting to do a tandem jump. Can anyone in that area suggest a reputable DZ? Thanks PS: I will look at the DZ Location section but wanted to see if anyone was currently jumping there..... 7. Well i broke down and finally purchased a TV, thanks for all the feedback. I went with a Panasonic TC-P50G20 and it looks great. Set it up a few days ago and have run into a small snag..... For the sake of discussion: -I only have the cable box and the TV hooked-up via HDMI. -I have 2 remotes, 1 for the TV and 1 for the cable box. Here is where it gets strange. When I turn the TV on and put the input to HDMI 1 (where the cable box is plugged in), the cable box remote won't work anymore. I can't change the channels, but I have picture and sound on the screen. If I turn the input to HMDI 2, the cable remote will work. So if I'm watching ESPN and want to switch to ESPN 2, I have to change the TV input to HDMI 2, hit 234 on the cable remote, then enter, then turn the TV back to HDMI 1. Suggestions on what the problem could be? Thanks "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. 8. Ditto! My plasma is mounted on the wall adjacent to my front window and no further than 3 feet away. My folks also have a plasma and it is in the brightest room of their house (1 large window and 1 sliding glass door). Neither of us really have a glare issue. For me the choice is how you use the TV. If you use it for video games, then you will tend to want an LCD. If you use it for watching TV or movies, then plasma is the way to go. This will be used for gaming a fair amount but also sports.....so about 50/50, thanks for the feedback. I left Plasma off of the poll intentionally because (from what I had read) that it did not do well in well lit rooms. However it seems some people don't have any issue with them in bright rooms which is good to know. Appreciate the feedback. 9. Well the TV is on the fritz so time to upgrade. I'm looking for a 46" don't really want anything bigger because it would be too big for the room. I'm down to LED vs. LCD. From what I've read plasmas are better for rooms where you can control the lights. This will be for the living room with lots of windows so it's bright most of the time. So what do you electronic gurus think....LCD or LED and why? Thanks "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. 14. Mike- You are making an investment by spending that much money to get licensed. Take the time and go visit Lodi and Taft. Get a feel for the place. You can learn a lot just by talking to the people there and picking up the vibe. "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. 20. I'm not picking and choosing which ones to follow. I am only saying that their is a difference between recommendation and regulation. xoxo "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. 21. Thanks Rob, I got confused in the semantics, but they do count..... That says Strong "recommends" which is a different from saying they "require" like UPT does. So Strong still leaves it up to the TI/DZO. Thanks "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. 22. ....................................................................... The 2010 version of the Strong TICC exam sets a 300 jump minimum. Remember that is a MINIMUM. DZs can also set higher local standards. I remember one DZ, that had a surplus of AFF Is, so they set that as the minimum to video tandems. At Pitt Meadows, aspiring vidiots also need to show me samples of their video, and get briefed by me and the senior vidiot BEFORE they are allowed to chase tandems. Then they chase me a few times, before they are allowed to join the vidiot rotation. Rob Warner Strong Tandem Examiner Rob, can you give me a reference for that? I just can't find that anywhere. Just talked to Mike at Strong Enterprises, he has stated that Strong does NOT have a minimum number of jumps that they require before someone videos a tandem. Just trying to make sure we're all on the same page here. If that's the new rule I want to abide by it, but need to find it first. "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience up before your bag of luck runs out."
  23. Rob- Did they recently add this requirement? I only ask because I remember talking to Tom N, when he was at Strong and there was no such requirement. They left it to the discretion of the TI.
