  1. with all teh american service men and women dieing, I guess by his logic God isn't overly impressed with Bush either....
  2. I guess you missed the sarcasm....
  3. yup, thankfully CNN is doing everything in their power (together with all the left media) to cover up that outstanding bit of good news.
  4. If owning things makes you happy, if you are shallow anough that material things make you happy, then I guess you could say money makes you happy. Growing up in a very wealthy family I know money isn't what makes people happy.
  5. Actually, the Roman Catholic church does not allow any other form of birth control other than looking at the calendar....
  6. yes! Soul is what the church will save if you give them enough money. Soul is what the church needs you to believe in for their concept to work.
  7. Why would that get a warning? He went after a group, not a poster. Comments are made about the french, americans, canadians, muslims etc, many groups get bashed and no warning is given. Why would some one bashing another group (lawyers in this case) get a warning?
  8. Jesus doesn't allow it, that is why....
  9. It makes life a little easier for them, but in the grand scheme of things it really doesn't make any difference. All China has to do to break the US is stop supplying WalMart. All the posturing is nice, but I think it is pretty obivous that China already has you by the balls...As you call it Cold War II has been fought and lost already. I suggest starting to learn Mandarin.
  10. I completely agree and I have absolutely no issue with parents who skydive or engage in other "dangerous" sports. But, only if they are honest about it and don't say that skydiving is safer than driving a car and it is great for the kids. Only, if they are honest about it.
  11. I agree with you....but do you think your father did all that because it would benefit you, or because he enjoyed doing it? There is no inherent reward to a kid when their parent skydives. No reward at least that could not also be relayed in a different way. Justifying risky behaviour by saying it benefits the family is not really valid in my opinion.
  12. Thanks for saying what I was thinking... the risk/reward comparison between immunization and skydiving isn't apples to apples. Immunization protects your child from death or severe illness with the small posibility that it kills the child. Skydiving makes you happy and has the chance of killing you. If you truly want to compare and come out ahead you have to be convinced that the benefit of you skydiving to your children is greater than the downside of your children watching you burn in. Dropzones are not for children. It is an adult playground. That was one of the main reasons I stopped skydiving. I didn't want my son to hang around a dropzone waiting for Daddy to jump from the sky. I would rather spend the time with him directly. Secondly, I would rather spend the money on him and his education than on skydiving.
  13. You obviously feel that first there was religion and then people started using it to control the masses. I feel that the concept of religion was if not created for, specifically used to control the masses from the very early beginnings.
  14. Actually it was not an implied comment. You are right, the question may not have any direct bearing on the thread, but that hasn't stopped anybody before from asking or answering. In the end only one person is responsible for the decision to invade Iraq and that is the President. There are quite a few clues that emotion played a very significant role in the President's decision making process. I happen to personally believe that indeed that is the case. I was asking you what your thoughts were on that.... If you would prefer to get this in a pm, I would be more than happy to copy and paste this into a pm for you, but in my opinion that defeats the purpose of a forum.
  15. It isn't a comment, it is a question. One I was hoping you would answer.
  16. Do you honestly believe that emotions did not play an important part in the decision making process that led up to the invasion of Iraq?
  17. To me that is what religion has always been. A get righ and powerful scheme for the few at the top of the organization. I don't see how that has now changed...that is exactly what religion still is.
  18. Just shows that forbidding kids to drink makes them drink even more when they get the chance. The concept of drinking to get drunk was completely foreign to me until I started coming to North America. The problem isn't that she was drinking, the problem is that she hasn't yet leanred how to handle her dirnking.
  19. First of all, the pharmaceutical companies are free not to do business in Canada. The world is a big place.....if they were losing money in Canada I am sure they wouldn't do business here. It is no differenmt then WalMart who dictates to their suppliers what the purchase price is. Before you can do business with them, you have to open your books. WalMart then decides what your profit margin should be and then sets the price they are willing to pay for your merchandise. As a supplier you are free not to go through this process and hence not do business with them.
  20. personally I think it is great and am in favour of a two tiered system where basic healthcare is provided to all, but those wqho can afford it have the option of buying more insurance, or go to private clinics.
  21. Touched a nerve there rehmwa? I have no idea what the percentage is. I generally think good of human kind so I would think it is a pretty low percentage. On the other hand, thinking that it doesn't happen is pretty naive....I have met more than one person who enjoys killing humans and they weren't criminals. I never said that, maybe you think soldiers are cool, I certainly have never. I don't see how anything that involves killing is "cool".....
  22. yeah but....how could Saddam be so oppressive if guns bring peace? In his days there were more guns circulating than there are now. Actually, the US imposed gun restrictions and regulations on the population when they invaded. edited for spelling
  23. very true...and I do have an issue with those signing up/volunteering/actively seeking work because they would like to go and kill some people.
