  1. Obviously not up to date bro have not been on here for ages. Just came on to see if anyone had any insight. Only reason is cuz the handles were still in place and two gear checks were given. My check I will admit only making sure each cord was threw its own loop and that was correct for sure. DZO also gave a check as we were walking to the plane and he feels certain the the three ring was correct as well. I am leaning toward snagging it as I got up and turned around.

  2. No sir, checked that my self and also had a pin check before getting on plane, it was correct.

On The Basik tandem, you can pull the drogue release handle and it will go back in place with the bungee. There is no stopper like on the Sigma which will prevent pulling before the drogue is set.
It happened to me to pull accidentally the handle (without noticing) and get an open canopy when setting the drogue.

I took a look at the rig again today and there is just no way this happened. the bungee pulls the pillow back some but it dose not seat back in the magnets. The pillow was totally seated in place when we inspected it. I must have snagged the left closing flap and pulled the cord when turning around in the plane.

  4. Hello all, I'm looking for some insight on a malfunction I had yesterday. I was jumping our Basik and had the drogue wrap around my wrist (yes I know what a jack ass I am but that's not the point of this post). After a few tries to clear it I deployed my reserve. As I was reeling in my drogue I noticed my main bag also being towed behind me. Fortunately I was able to just pull it all in and did not have a two out. My question is why was it out? the main handles were both still in place and before jump I checked the gear and so did my DZO. every thing was as it should be.

  6. Ya it sucks that we wont have the bar this year. There will still be lots of booze drank, We will still go to the tower, we will still sing dirty songs that only we understand, we will still funnel a Madjon load (actually I have never done this;)) There will still be too many damn Canadians, and the beer will still be warm.

I will never forget the day I graduated AFF. I set on the front porch with Mac, Garfield, Jack and Wendy. They said I owed a case of beer but I didn’t have enough money in my pocket for it so I got a loan from Stinky to by a case. My life has never been the same since that day and every time I go there I feel home. Lets not burn that thing down just yet!

  7. Did you guys read Wayndos post??? Fred will be doing the school...aka....the making money part.

How will not coming help Fred in any way? This would be like cutting off your nose to spite your face. If LP dies Fred definitely won't make any money.

  8. Im always late to this thread damn it.

I had a long conversation with Wayndo the other night. All of the changes that are being made are in the spirit of making the Boogie better and more attractive for people to come.

As Tall Guy said ;) there will be plenty of WARM beer.....The weather will SUCK.....and there WILL be to many damn Canadians!!

The boggie has been slowing down for quite a few years. Something has to change in order for it to grow and that is what is happening.

There are lots of cool ideas in the works for the next few years of LP and soon we will be having more planes, more people and more boobies!!!

I of course plan to come along with my wife and our second son who should be about two weeks old. If he comes late…..he will just have to be born at Lost Prairie.

What is that in the old landing field across the runway from the packing area? Why, it's skydivers landing there again. THE SKYDIVERS HAVE ACCESS TO THE FIELD! No more trolley rides. Even FREE beer as part of the deal. Let's hear lots of chatter and spread the word.

I am now that much more excited for this years boogie!!! WE GET TO LAND IN THE STUDENT FIELD AGAIN!!!!! FREE BEER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. I was a skier long before I was a skydiver and my wife came home today and said that some famous base jumper had died with skies on. I instantly thought about all of the films and articales of a guy who
Was way more than just some base jumper. I logged on and sure enough Shane McConkey had passed. This guy was a staple to all of us who have spent a lifetime reading about the ultimate skiing lifestyle...and then whent out and tryed to live it.

  15. You don’t have to try and convince me that it didn’t come down the Washougal. I have said all along there is no way it made it down the Washougal. I go up that river to swim in the summer all the time and I have posted why I don’t think it could have made it before so I won’t go into it again.

If we could rule it out based on flight path then it would be a step in the right direction

  16. Im glad to see we are focausing on the money again as it is without a doubt our best clue. I was wondering though since we now have a more accurate flight path wich puts the plane way west of washugul if we could rule out that as a posible path?

Jo, have you tried looking at Goggle Earth satellite images. I was just playing around on there following some of you directions and you can see quite a bit.

I have a real hard time with maps on the computer. What I need is an up to date ground map the same size and area as this old Topography map - to lay one over the other and then we get roads and houses and all of those things that would be like my making a trip there and then I might find the exact roads we turned on and off of. I would be able to pin-point the things and the places he took me. It would be better if the the google map was also dated 1979.

The map I am working with is 1:100 000- scale metric of Vancouver, Wa It is a geological survey map.

Wow, to be able to overlay two maps like that - would be a dream come true.

Jo Goggle Earth is not a map but satellite image. You can choose to have it show you roads. I have looked around a bunch where you have talked about and the detail of the satellite image is very good. You can easily find railroad tracks and power lines.
