  1. I flat pack everything to this day.
  2. There are some excellent photos and description of this type parachute in "World War II Troop Type Parachutes: The Axis" an illustrated study by Guy Richards.
  3. I've been a rigger since 1970 and I'm not on the list, either. I am crushed!
  4. Aircraft #2 could possibly be a Piaggio P180. The Piaggio P180 Avanti is an Italian twin-engine turboprop aircraft produced by Piaggio Aero. It seats up to nine passengers in a pressurized cabin, and may be flown by one or two pilots.
  5. Frontier Skydivers in western New York State has been in operation since at least 1960.
  6. Washington, D.C. has the same regulation about moving drinks.
  7. Can you pack it? Yes. Should you? Maybe not - if you are concerned enough to ask the question - that should tell you that it may not be a good idea. Better for you to err on the side of caution,
  8. That is exactly what mine says but I have the ultra-rare WHITE lanyard on it. But does yours have the velcro or the snap on the lanyard? That is what makes the the big price difference. Awww, rats. Mine has a snap on a green nylon sheath.
  9. That is exactly what mine says but I have the ultra-rare WHITE lanyard on it.
  10. I must be very fortunate as I have several of these rare knives laying around! Maybe worth enough to retire on?
  11. Why do need to "control" the crown of a round reserve? I don't understand what the problem is. I have packed many a round reserve over the years and never had a problem with the apex area.
  12. "That has me wondering....Is anti inversion netting on military belly warts, now days. That is probably a great invention. " Anti-inversion netting is indeed a great invention but it is not used on any of the current military reserves....T10 or either MIRPS rig.
  13. I put exactly one jump on a Parawing...it scared the bejesus out of me. Between the long opening and being very twitchy as I recall, it had an un-nerving tendency to tuck the nose under itself while holding into the wind.
  14. Thanks for the information. No, it does not have the waxed paper over the faces of the unit.
  15. Too many questions about the safety/wisdom of trying to salvage your container. When in doubt, err on the side of caution. Donate it to the local DZ for possible use as a training aid if they want it. Get yourself some new/different gear that is problem-free. A bad canopy is one thing - if your harness fails - that's quite another!
  16. Bertt, I cannot get the photos reduced small enough to post here. Send me a PM with your e-mail address and I'll send you the pics. I have pretty much (with help from Lou Diamond) narrowed it down to what you say but I would like to ID the aircraft it is used in.
  17. A question for our military riggers here - or anyone that knows: I have an Irvin Barometric Power Unit, Type B/2, Mk 2, Ref. No 15A/1482 according to the tag. It is in a fitted wooden case and appears new. Can anyone identify what chutes/aircraft this was used in/on? I'm sure it is obsolete but I would like to know more about it. Thanks all!
  18. "My only pillow reserve handle use showed me that not only was it harder to find but it was noticably harder to pull." Unquote. All the more reason for an RSL or a Skyhook!
  19. Two 2-pin T7A handles (chest mount) One blast handle (X-Bow) At terminal...OWW
  20. Do we have any current or former Navy/USMC riggers on the Forum? If so, please give me a PM....I have a few questions about rigging a 60A113E5 28' canopy.
  21. At the risk of being a smart-ass here - I think this falls firmly into the category of "When in doubt - DON'T pack it".

    NB-6/8

Hi Jerry, Strong enough, I hope....I know it will be a tight fit.

    NB-6/8

Will the standard C-9 28' canopy fit into an NB-6 or NB-8 container?
  24. In my round jumping days I had three reserve rides: the first was indeed necessary - the main never came out of the sleeve...only half the lines unstowed from the rubberbands. The second was a precaution for a Mae West. I don't think it was needed but that was club policy. The third was intentional - my Pioneer Tri-Conical was due for a repack so I strapped a tertiary reserve on the front of my X-Bow piggyback and dumped the Tri-Con from the backpack at terminal just for the experience - it hurt! I have seen several other round reserve rides over the years and NEVER saw a problem.
