I'm looking to jump the entire 5 months I'm there so please send me some DZ's and anything else you can think of. 2 days. All levels were the best! SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on? -
Thanks again to all. My point "we are not at the DZ talking trash and doing what we like", meant that we are not those newbies that dont listen at the DZ and tell tall stories of grandure, do whatever we want, and disrespect the sport and the people in it. We understand the risks in trying something new, but you have to start sometime so AGAIN, we are just trying to get as much information as we can before we get to the DZ this saturday. Then we will take everything we read (good/bad), speak to the people that know us/jumped with us, and move to the next step. Just trying to get as much info as possible so we have an idea before hand on what we are going to try and all the risks involved. Thanks again for everyones input, it has all been an eye opener. Much appreciated. We will tell everyone if it actually happened when we get back. Blue skied everyone!!! Noted, We are both very new to this forum and are still learning the ins and outs. Hell, I didnt even have my profile updated so no one even knew my jump history to give advice. Just took some one telling me it would make questions easier to answer. Thanks for moving us one more step closer. We will try to do better with the initial question. Matt, you put bigairsportz website on your list of items to check out. Any suggestions as to what canopy? SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?

I'd have to agree with fitz on this one. I'm not saying it was because we were american, maybe just because no one there knew us...a new face, but it was a horrible experience and I wouldnt go back. Hell, I didnt even jump and fitz turned in his second ticket to leave. Horrible experience. Better landings.....the only thing that will help fitz right now with his landing is a suit that has lots and lots of padding. Good job on the full face helmet too fitz, should keep the dirt/grass out of your eyes. I would also like to thank everyone who has posted on this thread for being helpfull. Its nice to actually read something usefull to the cause and not a bunch of negativity. thank you all and keep it coming. blue skies SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?

This is funny Shit. I lighten the thread up a little and give some one loads of respect and I get static. Oh well, its expected and I can take it as much as I can dish it out. I wasnt intending to disrespect anyone and I do respect my peers. Especially when it comes to skydiving and being safe, thus the reason for this thread. Fitz and I want to try something new and want to do it correctly. Thats why we are asking for advice and taking it all in to try a new disaline correctly and as safe as we can. If a coach is the way to go, then a coach we will get. As far as me needing to grow up, you need to chill out. This is a chat forum, we are not at the DZ, talking trash and just doing what we like. We are asking the experience how to go about something. Damn, isnt skydiving supposed to be fun after all? Thats why I do it and just hanging out at the DZ with other jumpers having a good time completes the experience. Lets all try to remember this and thanks again to everyone for the helpfull advice and to EricaH for again wanting us to be safe. OK OK, EricaH....I will make out with you! Seriously though, I would like to thank everyone that has posted usefull information and especially like to thank those with tact, and only concerned with our safetly. Theres a lot involved with HD that I didnt know and know now. Thanks to all and hope to see you all at a drop zone near you. EricaH, you asked previously where I jump, I will let you know as soon as I get to georgia and maybe I can meet you somewhere in the states to fall out of the sky. Thanks again to all. I'm not a base jumper (yet) but have been reading the forums, magazine articles, etc. and been curious about the definitions? Why does base call them 'yonkles", "seatbelts", etc. when us skydivers call them "togles", "risers", etc. Help me feed my curiousity and explain any other definitions i didnt list. Anyone Juming without an AAD?
woodpecker replied to woodpecker's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Just curious! the why and whynots. No posts on "why would you jump without one, it could save your life", i have one. Just wondering. SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on? -
I've enjoyed reading these threads and sad to see one of the old timers go. One less opportunity for me to jump with one of the true "skygods" and learn something from experience. I do hope that all of the experience doesnt get such a bad taste in their mouth from "hot shot newbies" that you shut us all out. I'm always looking for advice, and experience to jump with. You only learn from those that can teach. SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?

Demonknite... exaclty the same thing that happend to me and fitz. It was crap, no one was helpful and we were practically ignored. Where is a good, friendly DZ her in the UK to go and jump a weekend without all the local bulls%$#? SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?

bouncing around right now. In the UK right now so hit a few of them here, but primarily jump paracentrum in Texel, netherlands. Awsome place to jump and I recomend it to everyone. Staff is great and food is awsome. Fitz will be in South Carolina in a few months looking for a new drop zone and I will be in Georgia from November to March....would love to jump. Then off to ??????????????? SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?

YEEEHAAAAA, Sounds like someone has found that nerve fitz hides from the rest of us and tugged the s%$* out of it. Funny listening to him vent though. I agree with everything everyone said and took alot from this thread. I also appreciate the safety other jumpers are trying to instill in us all but think sometimes the safety gets a little overwhelming when they have never jumped with us and know exactly the skills. Yes, i was kicked out of an AFF class...of course i had over 100 jumps already and doing it for a refresher and a promise to the guy that still cant get out of a spin but i am an exceptional student. I've been jumping with fitz since he started and he's and exceptional learner....I'm sure there are tons of people that are past the learning curve and in stead of holding them back, please get us where we would like to be. I know everyone isnt safe in their progression but let me be the first to say that fitz doesnt do things balls out that he doesnt know or cant do yet. He want to try heads down to experience it...then progress with his jumping. Thats all......and i'm gonig to try it with him. Thanks for all the input and safety. Much appreciated and hoping to jump with you all at a DZ and have you help us out personally. Answer D......your physics teacher would be proud fitz. allow me to clarify one more little piece of the puzzle in regards to my previouse reply. We are not in congested airspace where we jump. its usually just you and in no danger to anyone. Lots of free air! Like i said, as long as we are not endangering people. I also understand that a coach would be warranted to purfect such a skill, but whats the harm in trying it out a few times before? I appreciate everyone trying to keep us safe...guess i just dont understand the total danger in being alone in the air and trying out something new for a few seconds. If I'm missing something please explain. I definetely dont want to hurt/kill anyone especially me. I've been reading and posting for about 2 weeks now and just realized, OOPS....I havent done the official DZ.com meet and greet. My bad, I got so wrapped up in the limitless information I skipped it, so here it goes. (this also might help some people in answering my many questions) Total Jumps: 189 137 free falls and 52 static line All but 24 of the free falls were military jumps so very new to sport jumping. I've just recently started jumping for sport/fun/me and as stated ealier...24 jumps into learning new styles and loving it. Thanks to everyone who has answered questions I've previously posted and be seeing you at the Dropzones and forums: SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?

Trae, allow me first to thank you for helping and not hindering self progression in jumping. All to many times people try to stunt the growth of free flying by "you dont have enough jumps yet", or "you should do this first". If you can get stable, solo jump, and want to learn a new disapline, why not learn it? If your not dangering other people I dont see the problem. For CReW or formation flying, i agree with more jumps or more experience, for solo freeflying.....grounds the limit boys. Thanks again for the help and i too will be trying head down with fitz next weekend. Blue skies trae!!!! You and me both. Nothing like jumping and the alti goes to hell. I've never eaten sh&$ on a landing and not going to start now. Just watch next weekend.....smooth sailing all the way in.....that is if you can see with all the dirt in your eyes from your landing. will keeping it packed make that much of a difference? Seasons getting ready to end and mine will be stored (in spare room) for about 4 months. packed/unpacked SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?

My suggestion is to get something larger than the 190. I've seen you land and a military 320 might be a little more forgiving and help you stop eating so much dirt. SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?
