  1. Good, I was starting to think I was the only one who thought this was strange. Yes, he has his log book of every jump and again....a license. Last jump was 3-4 months ago and a total of 29 jumps. I'm having him verify these numbers. I've also started a thread under "places to jump" to see if there might be another DZ in his area that can help him out. 2. Friend of mine recently got stationed in Fl, near pensacola and needs a DZ to help him get back into the air. New jumper, has british A license and hasnt jumped in about 4 months. Any DZ's close that will treat him right with minor BS? I ask (see thread in general) because he's being told at the DZ he called that the following will be required: water ground school at 20.00 an hour recurency jump at 100.00 SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?
  3. Just got an email from him and this is what he was told he had to do to jump again. 20 for every hour the guy decides to keep reviewing my EP's and basics. Plus 100 for the recurrency jump. No price given for water yet. This just seems a little overboard for a licesned jumper who hasnt jumped in 3-4 months. Please correct me if my assumptions are wrong or if there is a DZ close to Pensacola that will treat him kindly and get him in the air. 4. Every Emma I've ever known has had large breasts as well (of course every emma I've known has also had a large belly too) Jane...sorry, A couple of the Janes I know have large breasts as well.....but tiny bellies. 5. Friend of mine just got stationed in Florida (LA) and has his British A license. He hasnt done a jump in about 5 months but when he called the nearest DZ to start jumping they told him he has to do ground school, water training, and a check dive before he can jump. I can understand the check dive but thought the water training was for your B and I'm getting clarification on what they told him the "ground school" would entail. Again, I would understand going over EP's but this is a lincensed jumper. I'm getting more details and will add to this when I get them from him but does this sound legit or just a way of sucking money out of a new jumper? 6. Flying is not about numbers. WL is only one parameter of the equation, there are lot more. I'm aware of that and agree. However, this question is just about that ONE parameter....wingloading. 7. Just to clear this up....I should have done so in the beginning knowing this crowd ... This question is simply a question on the numbers. Not my flying, abilities, experience, current WL, etc. Curiosity actually. With the rush for jumpers to WL canopies and seeing a 1:1 becoming a RARE occasion, I was just wondering if 1:2 was considered high/low. I'm not worried about me and the rule of thumb was actually quite interesting. Thanks for the replies. 8. Would a 1.2WL actually be considered a big/large (not sure of word to use here) wing load? Canopy will be a pilot if that makes a difference. SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?
  9. Good choice scoop. I love my pilot! SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?
  10. Agreed! Thanks for getting my new suit in the air (beer paid) and showing me a wonderful time. It was nice to see so many wing suits in the sky at the same time. I missed today (work crap) but will be back next weekend and there on out. Till then. 11. So, when the Greeks thought the gods threw down thunderbolts . . . they did . . . until Ben Franklin came around and pushed them out of existence? Anyway, we're not saying it DIDN'T have a cause, just that we don't yet understand it. My guess is that there are plenty of things you, personally, don't understand how they happen. That doesn't mean that "god" makes them happen. It just means YOU don't understand it. Very well put quade. The only thing I would add is that a lot of us do have a theory on the cause...we just dont write a book on it, have everyone over on Sundays and ask them to donate so I can afford my car payment, rent, etc. (But that is an entirely different discussion all together. 18. I'll have to agree with you. I've been to France lots of times and never found the food "great" as one would expect or has been led to believe...except for the desserts. SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?
  19. As cepox said...talk to tony knight. We launched a linked 3 way out of it and had no problems at all. Front float, read float, one inside. Actually it was the best three way exit I've every experienced. SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?

  22. My longest flights so far were my third and fourth jump in a firebird and both jumps I was folding the wings in a little to catch the 2 way (so I'm pretty sure I can get a lot more if I just do a solo again...I'm also still pitching kind of high so we will see in the next few what happens) WS #3 exit: 14420 in the saddle at 4360 FF time 100 secs WS #4 exit: 14190 in the saddle at 3650 FF time 106 secs SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?
  23. I have to agree with you piisfish...after how many years/attempts and its always some "interesting" excuse on why it doesnt happen. No wonder he has sponsor problems. Hope it happens, but doubt he will ever be the one to do it. SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?
