Young billeisele, has left a lot of skydive pioneering information OUT of the "Mr. Douglas DC-3 Story" hereon. In the early 1970s before there was tandem parachuting, tandem parachuting began jumping from "Mr. Douglas" based in DeLand Florida. Before there were the 3 ring release system they were jumped out of Mr. Douglas by Bill Booth in DeLand. Before there were hand-deployed pilot chutes, they were jumped out of Mr. Douglas over DeLand Florida. Before there was Accelerated Freefall they began jumping AFF out of Mr. Douglas in Deland Florida. Before there were "Skydive Boogies" Mr. Douglas begat the term jumping over Deland, Florida. One of the reasons that DeLand is the skydiving training capitol of the world began with the famous Mr. Douglas blue-tint windows, and 8 track stereo music on climb out. Every "old-school pioneering parachutists" know and love Mr. Douglas. There are almost 2,200 Facebook followers of the restoration process. No other DC-3 has those bragging rights.

"SAVE-A-DC-3" THE MR. DOUGLAS SOCIETY INC. most famous skydive boogie airplane ever is using all volunteers to do the very tedious work at their own expenses, so far. A labor of love. All but the rudder control surfaces have been redone like new (see attached) with all new control cables. Two newly reconditioned 1,300 horse powered like new radial engines have been found with new carburetors and all ready for installation. (see attached). Only thing missing are the oldschool Dropzone supporters' donations. So far only one donation from this page. NO...! They were based out of Texas. The whole damn Pizza Inn Franchise company went "Belly Up" after I got sponsored... that's Thunder Chicken's luck.. Then somebody stole my brand new Pizza Inn Ramair Parachute system at the Niles Apple Festival. Got my Holiday Inn parachute too. I called the Michigan Police.... to report the theft from my equipment truck... and they found my brand new 9 mm S&W pistol behind my seat there and confiscated it... too. Not a good day for the worlds only skydiving professional clown. No fun entertaining the populus, at all.

(that is my Vietnam Airborne Ranger combat callsign) I am a twice combat wounded Vietnam Veteran, who has never stopped parachuting. These days I am skydiving as the Purple Heart Parachutist on the renouned Liberty Jump Team and supporting the Military Order of the Purple Heart and the Wounded Warrior Project. I just finished the opening of the Thunder Birds Airshow in San Angelo Texas. I have performed with the Thunderbirds 3 times before... as "Thunder Chicken." :-) Today, I fly Americas largest FLAG PARACHUTE...
