I'm pretty disappointed with Recon. I pre-ordered my goggles before the end of november and therefore i was supposed to get the damn thing before the end of december...then was pushed to January. But that's not the worst, now everyone seems to be getting their goggles lately but not me. Instead i got an email from Recon saying that they just realized that when i pre-ordered the Flight HUD they somehow didn't charge me tax causing a delay in the shipment of the package for an additional 2 weeks!!!!

What's the point of pre-ordering as soon as the project started if their not even paying attention to the details. They had well over 3 months to catch on to this mistake.....

    Not impressed!

    Having similar problem here...
Just received an email from italian custom asking 103 euro's for VAT, custom charges and a 34,00 eur fine because they declared a lower value and the custom asked me to send them a copy of the HUD order, of my CC receipt, of my ID and a long series of declarations about my purchase...
And my package is locked at the custom since 12 days...
    Totally disappointed!!! >:(B|

Has anyone else not gotten any emails from recon? I was in the 60s when I ordered and haven't heard shit.

same for me... at least, to clarify, I haven't received yet any email for the shipping, but I did received an email for the delay...

  3. Despite all technical improvements, I ordered my Recon HUD not for trusting on them for my life, but just for fun and to have an instrument showing plus or less how I'm flying my ws. Like a Flysight...
The use of these tools should be reserved to advanced pilots, not for beginners, and not forgiving the normal awareness required for any kind of skydive (or BASE Jump).
This would be a first step on improving instruments to aid the ws piloting...
Let's see what technology can do for our sport.
Recon has done the first step...

  4. In BASE there's an old discussion about qualifying an object as Building or Other (i.e.: a grain silo). Some of the BASE pioneers said about this arguing "ask a children what is it"...
I'd apply the same solution to this... :)I'm pretty confused to see people denying what is now so obvious, also with GPS and alti data supporting the facts.
But I'm not surprised as I still read about people saying that Elvis and Hitler are still alive and in good health...
Take it easy and enjoy your ride up to altitude!

The condition of unrestrained motion in a gravitational field.

Practically speaking, I think if we count Kittinger's drogue fall as "unrestrained motion", then we should probably also put wingsuit flight in the same category.

Setting aside the comments of the announcers, I love that wingsuit technology has advanced to the point where this is even a question. I love that there are so many shades of gray between "constrained" and "unconstrained" motion. I imagine that, when the record was first set, it seemed relatively obvious what would count as freefall and what wouldn't. We've filled that gap with all kinds of fun activities!

Having spoken to Lars at L&B before about SLO, if you exceed a value of X m/s for more than 3 seconds it thinks you've pulled - nothing you can do about it. I can't remember the exact figure. Altitrack has a lower speed setting by a few mph.

Material? More parapack than zp and quite different to the last 2 materials from S-Fly that I've flown. I'd have to asl Zun to be sure.

    Thx a lot dude!!! :)

  7. a bit off topic, but my Protrack in SLO mode doesn't work well when jumping my Apache... it shows an opening just after 3 or 4 seconds after exit... any tips to solve it?

Back to the Fury, what kind of fabric is made of?

I prefer inside exit AFF style, have em with wings scrunched up and hop out sideways facing prop, head high. I have em exit first and I follow, cause if they forget to look at the prop they often look up at me which causes the same effect.
That exit also has the side effect that if the student gets sloppy with limb management on a sidestep Otter exit they often pop their tail open, since they were heavily focused on arm position and keeping those armwings tightly shut down for the first second. This also tends to make for a nice smooth exit, they get out looking up and the popped tail lays em down flying, neat. I figure, why not try to arrange things so even the student's smaller mistakes actually make the whole thing smoother?
