I have the Timex BodyLink with GPS. I use it at the gym and while running. I generally like it, although the GPS can be weak at times and lose the signal if you are too close to trees,buildings, or whatnot. My only complaint is that the HRM portion doesn't work with the the LifeFitness cardio stuff at the gym. The Polar HRMs do. I think if you just want a HRM, go with the Polar. Dave DeWolf puts on a great course for FAA Senior Riggers. If that's something you are interested in I recommend: 1.) You come to the course fully prepared to take your written. You won't feel much like studying when you get home from class. 2.) Have 5 or so reserve pack jobs under the supervision of your local rigger. That'll give you a better heads up on the general process before you get there and you won't be busting your back to get 20 done in time. I think the best part of Dave's course is all the stuff he has and all the riggers that are there assisting him. Off the cuff, the max pull force on a reserve pin is 22 pounds. From the discussions I've seen, the pilot chute has enough force to generate abou 100lbs.
