  1. While on student status at Skydive Lake Thaoe, I saw video of a hook knife flying out of its pouch on opening and cutting a bunch of lines on his canopy. I was too new to notice which lines, or how the knife was secured. I wish I could find the guy that had that, all I can remember is that he was a member of the Coast Guard. That's a reason. -- drop zone (drop'zone) n. An incestuous sesspool of broken people. -- Attributed to a whuffo girlfriend.
  2. Got a pic or description of it? -- drop zone (drop'zone) n. An incestuous sesspool of broken people. -- Attributed to a whuffo girlfriend.
  3. I'm jonesin to try that. I would just cut the threads and zigzagged over it. I wonder if there's some sort of reasoning behind it. -- drop zone (drop'zone) n. An incestuous sesspool of broken people. -- Attributed to a whuffo girlfriend.
  4. Where's you pick that up from? I would of never considered it. -- drop zone (drop'zone) n. An incestuous sesspool of broken people. -- Attributed to a whuffo girlfriend.
  5. Ok, fair enough. "Question about" is probably the better way to go. -- drop zone (drop'zone) n. An incestuous sesspool of broken people. -- Attributed to a whuffo girlfriend.

  7. Thanks Kolla! (I printed that out and stuck it my binder) I owe beer tomorrow. (New Rig, New Knowledge). PS- Ya'll were right. :) -- drop zone (drop'zone) n. An incestuous sesspool of broken people. -- Attributed to a whuffo girlfriend.
  8. It IS an issue (harmless... perhaps), and to me (Seal#TXM) it looks like a defect. I'd call it a thing, or a whatchamacalit, but I find those terms less clear. That's not a difficult problem to solve, don't take them out of context. -- drop zone (drop'zone) n. An incestuous sesspool of broken people. -- Attributed to a whuffo girlfriend.
  9. I'm sure you are right, but I'm skeptical for 2 reasons. 1.) It's not mentioned in the manual. I wouldn't be the first rigger to notice them, or call. I would think they would mention it in the manual. 2.) They look rather spaced apart, unaligned, and at a really wierd place to be some sort of identifier. -- drop zone (drop'zone) n. 10. These (needle?) holes are on the rib in the middle of the #6 cell at the tail of my brand new reserve. Whatya guys think? (I emailed PD, waiting for a response, thought I'd solicit opinions here) 66.106.81.44/canopydefect.jpg -- drop zone (drop'zone) n. 11. I hear/heard comments like that regarding my sabre 210 loaded at 1.19. I figured as long as they aren't hanging underneath it with me, they're not allowed an opinion. -- drop zone (drop'zone) n. An incestuous sesspool of broken people. -- Attributed to a whuffo girlfriend.
  12. Thats awesome. "I will pack neater." "I will pack neater." "I will pack neater." -- drop zone (drop'zone) n. An incestuous sesspool of broken people. -- Attributed to a whuffo girlfriend.

  15. I think you are making the right decision. You've decided the risk skydiving adds to your life is not worth it. You have to get out of bed every day, you have to drive your car to work, you dont have to skydive. Blue skies. -- drop zone (drop'zone) n. 16. >At some point, if it goes past $1,500 new skydivers will simply not use one. I'm not sure if I buy that (pun). I think that the skydiving community is AAD (AOD?) dependant. I would even speculate that the higher price would lead new skydivers to think that it is a better ("if it costs more, it must be better") safety device. -- drop zone (drop'zone) n. 18. Yup. >I am not sure what you plan on using your machine for, but I can tell you from personal experience 69 thread on home machines don't mix very well... add a little material thickness and you will be pulling your hair out!! It drives through 4 plies of Type 12 with the right amount of hand feeding. I could get the motor to bog if I pulled on the material a bit and the feed would slip pretty easily. -- drop zone (drop'zone) n. 19. Thanks. I picked up a spool today. -- drop zone (drop'zone) n. An incestuous sesspool of broken people. -- Attributed to a whuffo girlfriend.
  20. Where do ya put the spool then? It definatly doesn't fit on that little plastic holder. -- drop zone (drop'zone) n. An incestuous sesspool of broken people. -- Attributed to a whuffo girlfriend.
  21. I bought a $99 Euro Pro Shark from Target yesterday. I found some 18 needles, but no E Thread (Z69). Where can I find a spool of this stuff for a home machine, or should I buy a 1lb spool and rewind it on a smaller one somehow? Ritch -- drop zone (drop'zone) n. 22. Hmm... I would figure if you are like most of the dz gals the number would be equal. I think most guys would use the former to push the latter. -- drop zone (drop'zone) n. An incestuous sesspool of broken people. -- Attributed to a whuffo girlfriend.
  23. I have about the same amount of experience as you and I took DeWolf's course this winter. I came into the course with 0 minutes sewing time and 0 reserve pack jobs. I worked on studying poytner's and was comfortable enough to pass the written before I got there. I think if you have 0 skydives and ~100 main pack jobs you are capable. The hardest part of the course was trying to pack up all 20 reserves in such a short amount of time. I found sewing to be intimidating at first, but fairly easy to get the basics. Be realistic, earning a Senior Rigger rating only gets you in the started, mastering it takes a while. -- drop zone (drop'zone) n. 24. Why dont you jump it first. Grab a chest mount reserve and give it a ride. (Mine has a built in turn.) -- drop zone (drop'zone) n. An incestuous sesspool of broken people. -- Attributed to a whuffo girlfriend.
