  1. GOOD Game HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  2. I don't remember the year but it was early on the first day of a WFFC. No one was around. I went over and talked with the Air-speed guys. We decided to go make an eight-way. It was me, David Miller (current 4-way int champ) and 6 air-speed. We got 14 or 15 points in time. I was way over my head but I tried not to hold it back too much. They all just took off at 4. I was in the middle of a blind back in and didn't leave so I was in position with only the camera guy for comany. I hit the turbos, burned out of there and the camera guy watched me go. At the de-brief, we watched the skydive pointing out my faults (lots).Craig Girard called everyone's attention and said "Every one pay attention and check this out". We watched the end of the jump one more time. He pointed to the screen and said "Now that's how you need to track right there." I may not be able to make Air-Speed speed but I can track. I am still on a high from that moment of praise from Craig HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  3. Skydive Chicago, Rantoul, Skydive Wissota, Skydive Twin cities. 4 DZs, 100 jumps. Three weeks. Thats a normal july for me, is the not normal? Oh, I only payed for about 20 of them. No tandems. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  4. For most people, the "oh my G I'm going to die" feeling is gone by 30-50 jumps. Skydiving remains an absolute thrill for the first several hundred. After the hardcore thrill fades, it becomes something different for each individual. For me, it became a challenge to be able to do the best I could. Ego also stepped in and I decided I had to be better then anyone else on my DZ. I adopted the "I have to be better" idea and I am still trying today. I am better then most, at this or that but skydiving is so diverse, so endlessly broad in its span. I will continue in my push to be better then everybody else. I know this will never happen, so I expect to continue on my current path until the path reaches its end. Another 30 or 40 years down the road. I am on my way to to about 450 for the year. I have done about 400 every year in this century. Each year, at least 6 or 8 times I have an experience that sets me back a step or two and makes me say "Wow that was incredible" . These experiences are usually breath taking and flat out incredible. what makes these thing even more special, is the fact that I know they are shared by but a handful of people in the history of human kind. We are skydivers and we are unique, but we share things like this and it makes us a group unlike almost any other. I have been a skydiver for 15 years 6 months 9 days 3 hours and 50 minutes. It continues to hold me like a child in its grip. From this sport I will never stray. So the answer to your question is no, never boring, never without a thrill. The crazy thrill is toned down but never gone. Welcome to the endless journey my friend, welcome to the world of skydiving. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  5. If thats what you really want for Christmas Wildfan75 just don't pay me for the packjob I did on Sunday. Thats one down. If anyone wants to get me stuff,..., Hmmmmm.., A new Jumpsuit would be nice. Maybe a new Audible...., If you really love me,..., get me a JVX with the sailcloth option in a new vector with a skyhook. But thats only if you really care about me. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  6. I am not normally on a very big canopy..., but I own two furys(220) and a maverick(200). I jump my fury once a week at least. It is a joy to, not be under pressure as soon as your canopy opens. I wish more people were jumping big old F-111. I can go do a base jump in the morning with it then later on do some CReW. Maybe even take it on a RW load. Now that versatile. Big canopies rule HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  7. Thanks Mat. That is a good idea I always forget about the bunk house. I have no prob with it but I know some who might. Once people chime in and we get a head count we will certainly run it past them. It sounds like the thing to do to me. We will see. I have never had a problem finding people to jump with at SdC, I was just trying to drum up some more takers. I also know better then to head for the bunk house without something or someone to provide heat, I did that once. Thanks again Mat, I would have forgotten and that would have cost me. Both monetarly and socially. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  8. Anyone from MN or western WI plan to, or want to go to Chicago (SDC) the Friday following Thanksgiving. Me and My GF wanted to see who would like to Car pool (and maybe share a hotel room ). I would love to bring a group, we could split the gas and maybe jump together to. It can be hard to find a group to jump with at a new DZ but if you come with a group it's not so hard. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  9. I don't workout in the summer. I just started my normal winter training routine. I did 5 miles this morn in 37min. I am usually a comfy 34 or less 3 times a week by the end of the winter season. I will also do 10Ks. but 5mile is my best. I have a hard time getting 10K in under 43. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  10. there is no reason to stop. we here in Wi. jump all winter. Many think this is nuts but consider this, you go from a warm building to a warm airplane. Jump, open, land, then back to the warm building. This is a mater of only about 5 min. exposer. if you can dress for five min. of super cold your set. You leave little or no skin exposed and you will be fine. I have about 1000 jump done at 32 or less. I still love them and will never stop. Try it, then when summer comes and the people who take the winter off come out you look like a real hero. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  11. Otter Otter C-182 G-5 Helio-Stalion Otters are the most versatile skydiving aircraft. So useful. I have almost 2G Hrs flying jumpers in one of these. Nostalgia A Gulfstream for the world tour. Fast and huge. The Hellio S is so cool it just looks mean. I love that thing. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  12. Wow, so much heat and passion. All this arguing over which is best. The bottom line is listen to the wildfan. Through all the argument and BS, she stood strong and said "look for yourself". Every DZ is different, every instructor, airplane, every person. They are all different. Lets just step back and say welcome. I hope you find what your after, no matter what program you chose. Skydiving is like nothing else and if you fallow the path, it doesn't matter how you start. It will become just another good story you can tell to the new jumpers. Good luck skyflygirl1. I hope you find what your looking for. Maybe someday we can jump together. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  13. I will go. I don't know any others. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.

    Tall Girls...

They are intimidating..., and if they are hot skydivers and hot swoopers they are without dates. I feel sorry for the girls I know who fall into this profile. I only know one though. I had this talk with her at Rantoul. she is still a super great girl but I don't think she does well with the guys. guys, just stop being pussies, dont let it hold you back. give the tall girls the love. They need it to. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  15. I do the same every year I don't mean to it just works out that way. 383 367 393 405 376..., and on and on I go to more boogies its more bad weather I just do the same over and over it's strange. I did 512 in 97 then hurt myself and only pulled 197 tin 98. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  16. I am with Lynn. At skydive Wissota in WI we toss pumpkins in October (this year 22nd-23rd). We put a car out on the runway and through pumpkins at it, on the way up. It's 500ft 90mph. We supply the pumpkins you spot for them. We also have beer and food come join us and throw a pumpkin. We are trying to get a otter this year, it looks good. HPDBs, I hate those guys. 17. None have been under 1000ft. so about 30 to 60 sec. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  18. I had two in two months, May and June of 2004. The first on my birthday May 17th, The last was round 6 at the NPSL NSL meet at Baldwin WI. At least we won AAA. Thats about 1100 skydives. I have 7 total reserve rides. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  19. I'm not sure if it was the same girl or not, but I was down at Rantoul at the WFFC and Rook brought a whole plane load of people from SDC. They had some great cookies to. What a bunch, SDC is the greatest. The people are some of the best you will find in the sport. The easy way to find that girl would be to go back and make some more jumps there. Sign up for AFP and then you can hang with them all the time. I love nice people. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  20. I have had PCITs, I am jumping mostly from Cessnas and do a lot of HPs. I have never not been able to pull the pin. I have done it at least a dozen times over the years. If I couldn't, I would fly it to 2 then pull reserve. Bag lock. I had the most fun reserve ride ever with a bag lock. I was solo head down at a $10 boogie in Chicago. A big flat skydive got out before me. They had a camera man. after exit (about 10 secs) I felt something against my foot. It was one of my toggles. I went flat and deployed at about 10G. I had a baglock about 4/5 ft off my back. I found the belly jump, tracked over then. The camera person pulled in place about 4ish. I tracked about 100ft in front of him. I sat up, screamed (to get his attention), and as I went through his level right in front of him cut-away and pulled reserve. He got it on video. I had a slider hang up once I flew the canopy trying to free-up the slider but couldn't. I flew the canopt to 2000 trying to judge the perfect sport. I cut at 2G. My stuff landed about 100ft from the peas. I've had two of these and both were low so I just pulled reserve immediately. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  21. It was Rantoul 200?, The spot was way out. I could have made it on to the Airport, maybe..., But I saw a water hazard on the sixth tee of a Golf coarse I was flying over. I chose to swoop the water hazard. The set up was nice. I did a 270 left front riser turn, I went to rears surfed the water then up the shore. I was about to land on the fifth green when I realized, that it maybe an improper move to make. I thought it similar to dragging you cady acrooss the green or driving your golf cart across (big NO-NOs). So at the last second I chose the bunker just to the left of the green. I landed in the bunker just as two gentleman pulled up in there cart. I grabbed the rake raked my way out of the sand and apologized for cutting in in such a manner. they said it was OK and it was one of the most incredible things they had ever seen. I again appologized and proceeded to return to the airport. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  22. weather at Cf was awesome but only on Friday and Sunday. I try to make the weather nice but it only works about 50% of the time. I will work on it. All I can do at this point is promise to order the weather. I may not be able to deliver. Sorry. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  23. It makes me a little sad, to see that people worry about getting out of the airplane below 3000. I did my first jump from 3000 and worked my way both up and down from there. Low alt. jumps are a blast and usually cheap to. It has been said, that you need to know the canopy you are jumping. That is true. 2000ftrs are cool. The ground rush, that little bit of tension that you just don't get on a normal jump. I dont like to jump my hot rods(2 FX 89s) below 2500 but if the altitude is in question, it's time for the Fury (220 7-cell F-111). with this canopy I have exited from 600ft..., ..., not from an airplane thats crazy. comfort with your canopy is the key to life in the world of skydiving. If you are not comfy with what you are jumping, it will hold you back with the rest of you skydiving. If you only have one rig, make sure you do some low altitude jumps. You never know when the wings might just fall off. Just kidding. If everyone did some low ones, some high one, and a few inbetweeners, Got very comfortable with what they were jumping the world would be a better place for everyone. Oops, got a little off track with that one. I think you got your answers C, D Lic. and an exit below decision alt would or should be on reserve. I feel very strongly that people should know there canopy back and forth side to side upside down Ect Ect.., If the people involved in the Iowa incident had known there equipment better it may have made for a little different outcome. I have to stop or I will go on forever. I just love this place. I love to express my opinion. Hope it helps. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  24. I have never done anything with two out, but to induce a DP I would think it should be done by pulling down on the outside rear riser of each canopy. If you are aggressive enough with your input I would presume you could get DP with either one, used by itself. Possible but difficult. If the canopies are similar in performance and size they should be straight out from one another. at this point the DP should hold itself in but I don't know, since I have never done any of this stuff with two out, just CRW. How would your hand get caught? Sounds like Derrick is the man to talk to, ask him. Hooknswoop. I think to say this, only after I went through the process of trying to figure it out. Dah HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
