  1. John Rich. 3000 feet is a common limit for low speed malfunctions on a reserve. Cutaway before 3000 feet! If you have a baglock try to cutaway as soon as possible, there is the potential that the 3 rings will take some time to release if you are in a belly to earth position.
  2. Actually I posted my reply under the wrong statement. Pull the toggle I agree with, body parts might help to but not as much....
  3. QuoteGet a new packer I have done 300 jumps now on my private Icarus 330 and only had one linetwist. Tip: Just look up and see what way the canopy is heading and what direction you want to untwist. Now just stick your hand and leg out on the appropriate side and grab as much air as you can. Since Icarus tandems open in full drive, the higher airspeed will make you start turning and help you untwist. Hope this makes sense? I agree to above statement. On the Icarus since they are flying full speed just look at the canopy, pull one toggle lightly if it doesnt seem right, pull the other one a bit and you will soon notice that you can just pull a bit harder and your linetwists will be gone! Someone said insted of pulling risers apart try to pull them together, have not tried this but will next time I get linetwists that wont give in easily.
  4. Hello! I recently bought an old Velocity after jumping VX for many years. Time has come to change lines and I am not sure what lines to buy. Its a work horse this canopy so I want the lines that last long time and perform good for the money, but am willing to pay a bit more if it makes a big diffrence. I do 450 turns for landing if that helps to know. Thanks
  5. Hello! Any advice how to do a Mr Bill jump successfully? No tandem harness and stuff just deploying, flying a bit and then let go.... How not to injure arms etc
  6. oh yeah, to nick, sick distance, one day i hope to be able to do half that and i'm sorry that the thread intended to honor your accomplishment has been reduced to this Aii! Agree, the man swooped longer than everyone except one! Fucking awesome! CONGRATULATIONS! And we can all buy a canopy just like it and a canopy just like(or atleast very, very close to) the one that swooped a tiny bit longer. We are all in envy of the talent, not the canopies.
  7. Does anyone have information on how to load the JVX for distance? If it can help I have a Velocity now that I load 2.25. A vx that I load 2.2 but it definitely feels like I could use some weights with that one(the VX) for more speed and distance. Was thinking 2.4 for the JVX but this time I want to get it right before i spend all that money on a to big or to small canopy. And I am also looking for info on how big a JVX 80 with sail on top and bottom(not crossb.) will pack, I can fit an old old Stiletto 120 in my rig(micron 306) fine but a new Sabre2 120 fits...not so good.
  8. Talking JVX.... How big does a 80 Hybrid pack(like a VX 90? Bigger?) And how much should you load it if you want maximum distance? 2.5? I like the VX at 2.25. Should one have sail on top or bottom skin. No room for full sail
  9. Anyone with experience from this mouth switch? http://www.paragear.com/templates/parachutes.asp?group=455&level=1 Have problems with the conceptus bite and toungeswitches and most other I tried( they are not comfortable for me) Need a switch that fits my mouth comfortably. How about the ones you blow in to? Any good and where can I find them?
  10. Come on there is some skydivers who are able to use their head and have great flying skills even they only have a few hundred jumps! She is very safe and if the tm's actually wants her to come jump with them(male and female) that proves they trust her and after she has jumped with them they say, that was fun come up next jump again! She has the skills to approach safely and staying away from the drouge on exit, she gets faceshots on exit and the rolls over and are often tight. Only problem is the fallrate. I understand you can think someone with 250 jumps would be a danger to the tandem but far from everyone is. She is not miles away on the fast jumps, just to high on them to sell the vid if that was what she wanted to try and do. You know when I asked how to fall fast when small everyone asked why..... So if she does a thousand jumps from now, FS,freefly etc she might still struggle to keep up with fast tandems because that might be the only time she has to fall that fast. Sitflying does not always give such a a good vid I think. And she cant do freefly and FS at moment because its a small DZ with just some tandems going up. So now is a good time for her to practice to fall fast, it will be a great skill to have, maybe she want to do AFF or film AFF etc in the future. The post from skyjunkie...Thanks we thought about sitflying but not all DZ allow it on tandems. To be honest the best advice on falling fast on belly was to drink beer ha ha. So maybe that is the way then.... Thanks for your replys though.
  11. Why... She wants to film tandems. She can keep up with 136 mph(with 11lbs) at moment but needs to get closer and sometimes they will fall faster when passengers are bigger. Why not wear more weight.... Weightbelt doesnt fit much more, not a big waist to put it around. And I dont want to see her twist an ankle on landing. Besides its hard to know exactly how much weight to bring each time. Better to have optimised the bellyflying technique first. Freefly....Great but maybe 250 jumps is not enough to always fly safe with tandems and take great footage. Male taking a female for skydive....... Would be great fun but we dont have much time to jump together. I have told her how some guys bring knees or knee down when they used to film freestyle on belly and she has gotten advice here and there about how to speed up. I know there is small skydivers filming tandems without wearing a ton of weight so I am sure she will be great at it eventually(she already is great beeing able to fall 136) just though I post a question here how people speed up their belly flying .....
  12. My friend is 110 lbs, 165cm. She can fall app 125 mph without weights.(135 mph with 5kg,11lbs) She needs to be able to fall up to 140mph on her belly incl weights. She has definately improved her fast fall lately but now feels she has reached her limit. I am sure she will be able to fall faster when she gets more experienced(has now 250 jumps) but how to get there fast? She has limited time to jump and can not go to a windtunnel or get a lot of(at the mo no) one to one coaching. it needs to be belly flying but necessesarily not mantis pos. Any advice....?
  13. I got 9 tandem reserverides, all nine reserves opened great, not to hard not to slow. Some older(design)reserve canopies wanted to stall before I released breaks, but heard that was normal. Check gear, do a good exit, do handle check in freefall, pull high enough. I strongly belive that tandemmasters to often concentrate on their passengers body position instead of realizing they are the skydiver and to let a non skydiver get them instable because they don't arch is just old school jumping. Thanks
