  1. Hi Tunnelflyers! I will do my first tunnel time at the end of this month. I would like to get in contact with a good coach wo can help me. I will be in Bottrop 28th, 29th and 30th of July. Thanks
  2. No I didn't mean you. I meant skydivers with low experience. Sorry I don't really know how to use the functions of replying and quotes here properly. Regarding a canopy starting to turn down wind by it self or not, I have never experienced that. I know when I fly in a cross wind it might feel like the canopy is starting to turn down wind but it never happened to me that a canopy actually did, it is just the landing point (if no more input is done) that will be further down wind due to the crosswind. Interesting with the droptests... Actually this guy who was very sure a canopy will turn down wind by itself said he heard it from a canopy designer.
  3. If anyone thinks it's better to spread out for speed downwind , do this experiment (in headwind and downwind). Fly side by side with your friend under canopy, when you have "trimmed" your canopies so you hold the same speed and the same rate of decent, one of you spread out without changing the controls. I am pretty sure the one who do not spread out will go faster in both situations, it might take a few seconds before it happens but it will. Maybe you should ask an instructor how and when (as in at what experience level) to do this safely if you are new in the sport, both also need similar wingloading to be able to fly on the same level unless you are very skilled. A new topic on the drift? How about if a canopy will fly downwind after a while by itself if you let the controls go? I don't think so but a few year ago I was told so by one of the best skydivers in the world that was the case???
  4. Check the mic setting, you should be able to set it to low I think.
  5. Stuff like that comes down to management. A lot of DZ managers just think staff should act always professional and be a clown and all that without any guidance or "training". Some guys don't have sensitive noses. If it's a company policy that you as an instructor have to wash your jumpsuit now and then, it might not happen that they smell bad. One becomes a product of the environment eventually and if you never been in a good environment you might never had a good role model. Without a clear company policy, guys might do mistakes without meaning to. Or just use the lack of a policy to act as they want. If a DZ was run more like other businesses service would improve?
  6. Happened to me. Pointed out the plane diving, student pulled....
  7. On Sigma, I make them hold the belly strap.
  8. Depends on a few things I guess, like your body size and the size of your performer etc. Use something that gives you the range you need. If you can already fall slow and fast enough ff suit sound good. If you are good at falling fast use a baggy suit or wings to be able to fall slow when you need, and so on. If you get your headup and or freefly skills sorted maybe use a baggy suit for more range.
  9. Maybe start with learning to go from belly to a stand up and then back to belly. After that impove your sitfly/headup so you can change speed and also move back and forward and do carving. I often bring one knee down to go faster on my belly for a short time. I think if you can get the transition from belly to standup/sitfly/headup and back to belly you can impove your filming lots. Say your lady does a stand up, you do one too and if she does layouts you might do a sit or go back on your belly and if she goes back to standup you can be there in a standup/headup again. Maybe do a few solos or stay a bit further away from her when you try this the first times. I think you need to be able to go faster than someone who films skysurfing.
  10. See this is what I'm trying to achieve, I need to take about 40 freefall pics and I have alps and lakes that the customers want in their photos, but often the sun is located so I need to face the sun to get the best views. I'm pretty happy with my photos but I find that the landscape, is sometimes over exposed in overcast skies. I do experiment and try and I have an good idea of what I do, mostly I remember to switch the on/off switch to on. I use the P setting when there is a few cloud layers and I have not been happy with my photos for the day, sometimes I use the sports mode too and get the best results. No time for photoshop since photos goes to customer on a CD 10 minutes after jumps. Just trying to minimilize the not so good photos. Thanks for your input DSE, always reliable and you other guys too. Got to keep learning or I might become a dick who thinks I know everything, skydiving don't need any more dicks, eh.
  11. No such thing as a setting on the stills that always makes great photos, but what is a setting that works the best as a universal setting. Say when it's sun, cloud, overcast but with strong light etc. Mostly thinking about the light and colours. How do you guys set your stills?
  12. When it's cold I can find it a bit tricky some days to breath, what I do I just breath out and the it's fine to breath in. So if you find it hard to breath, breath out completely then breath in and do this a few times and it might be a good technique for you. If it happens to me it's the first jump of the day and it is a bit colder than I expected.
  13. Nothing right now, just wanna know where to find true facts when I do want to know something in history. Who/Where is history officially recorded for our children to find out facts one day.But seems like there is no such thing as true history. History change over time.... Did Einstein reply "compound interest" to a question about the greatest force on earth for example...
  14. If i want to find out something that happened in the worlds history. Like what started the Gulf War(Just an example) Where do I go? No fabricated stories, truth and true facts
  15. I did a search and found this thread, not been any posts for a while.... I am on the hunt for some good podcasts. The ones that are consiste ntly good so I can listen every week! Humor Sports Skydiving etc whatever
  16. Place ad in paper: Lost: Parachute. My parachute malfuntioned and landed by the highway. If you found it, please I need it for further scenes in my new action film and will award you for it's return...lots of dollars or a date. A Jolie Then you get the bastard!
  17. Stay away from the sugar people. Coffee is OK, sugar is bad. That vanilla flavour is sugar...
  18. You just need a coffee.....go on have one Olympia. Thank you mrwrong, never jumped there....
  19. Bob Dylan, love it. he is big but the only ones I know that like him is my brother and his friend. I love how he rocks without trying to rock... Springsteen, always lots of people at the concerts but no friends have his records. AC/DC but they are getting BIGGER.... Iron Maiden, I will be alone at the concerts...but not alone.
  20. Seems hard to fix. Guess I would drive the 3 hours then.... Download some good podcasts, get a cheap cellphone rate. Learn from the podcasts, like a language and talk on the phone my real friends! 3 hours might fly by fast. Important not to sit for 3 hours and think that you are forced to drive because of that dick though, then you can just stay and take the shit.
  21. Hm, yeah. Im not sure I understand, you talked to him, he said he would change but did not? Is greed involved? 3 hour drive does not sound good but maybe it will be well worth it? Maybe if you where more specific about the problem, like greed, bullying etc? I
