  1. In my observations I have seen many experienced jumpers not use a tailgate for unpacked jumps (particularly roll-overs). How is not using one "badly faulty"? "I reject your reality and substitute my own" ~Adam Savage

    Reno locals

i love the rig he is wearing!!! PC in hand with a ?rip cord? and a reserve. No risers, in fact, nothing on the large piece of the three ring....sorry, this is all obvious...I'm just trying to avoid listening to my professor. "I reject your reality and substitute my own" ~Adam Savage
  3. Actually the clinical definition of pedophilia does not apply here. Legally she was still a child at 16, but not in psychological definitions. Technically pedophilia only applies when the child is prepubescent or going through puberty, which, she is obviously past that in these pictures. So, anyone attracted to those pictures is not a pedophile. "I reject your reality and substitute my own" ~Adam Savage
  4. You first. ---------- Also, let us all give thanks to Tom Dancs. Wow, thanks for making me laugh on an otherwise grumpy day
  5. As a gymnastics instructor, I would have to disagree with that... Strength skills, yes, guys pick that up faster, most everything else (balance, flexibility, ect.) girls pick up much faster... my .02. Practicing exactly what you want to do never hurts. 6. As I understand it, many countries don't have these type of regulations. If the case is, we haven't seen major evolution in skydiving gear because of TSO regulations in the US, then why haven't we seen major advances in non regulated countries? Many of these countries have just as experienced jumpers, riggers, and manufatures, with probably just as fertile minds (if not more ), and still the mechanics of the rigs are the same (from what I've seen). I agree, these systems work, but they also may not be the best. Perhaps it's like the automobile. There were not a whole lot of changes to the actual way a car works for a quite few generations, but now we're seeing that it may not be the best thing, and we're trying to change it. Edit to add: BTW congrats on the rig! keep us updated. "I reject your reality and substitute my own" ~Adam Savage

    BASE 652

I was home for the holidays, and I made sure to dedicate a jump off the bridge to him on the 31st. He had some impeccable timing as I will never forget the day I found out he had left us, and I am just grateful I got to spend some of my life with him. I miss him sorely, as well do all of his friends that I know. He left so much for us and I still run into little things of his, gear and stuff as well as memories, all the time. Twin Falls Law

Twin Falls county recently repealed the ordinance that banned selling hard liquor on Sunday. Just thought you guys would like to know. Especially if you're jumping over New Years. "I reject your reality and substitute my own" ~Adam Savage

    Stronger gear

When I read this I instantly think of automobiles. Originally the frame and body were made to resist bending and breaking, but soon people realized that all the force of a sudden stop has to go somewhere. They realized that making things so they absorb this energy saves some people from at the very least whip lash. While making things stronger may have some very positive impacts, the finality is that, no matter what "shit wears out." "I reject your reality and substitute my own" ~Adam Savage
  10. Agreed that porosity doesn't sound like a problem in this situation. I have a FOX with over 400 jumps. It also doesn't hold much air when on the ground, and I've rarely had to push the air out to get it in a stash bag. Still, it flies nicely, but mine had some really good owners that kept good care of it _and_ I have a super light wingloading under it. If he's insistent, definitely have a rigger give it a good once through. "I reject your reality and substitute my own" ~Adam Savage

  15. If you want to use copyrighted music it's super easy, permission is not required! Simply obtain a license (about $10 per song, good for up 2500 copies) and pay the statutory royalty rate: 9.1 Cents (USD) for songs 5 minutes or less or 1.75 Cents (USD)per minute or fraction thereof over 5 minutes. This is for each copy you make of the recording (including the original one). Contact the Harry Fox Agency (harryfox.com), for payment details for both licenses and royalties, and all payments can be made directly to HFA. You may have to contact the master recording owner or artist royalty rep. (Sesac, Ascap, or BMI) for a video license. You can find out which one from Harry Fox. If the recording was made in a country outside of the United States you will have to research their copyright laws, but most are more lenient than the US. 17. Happy Birthday honey!!!! Oh and congrats to you and Jimmy! All my best wishes to you two, for a long and happy life together! Wish I could be there, but alas, I have school. All in all I think it will be the best 18th b-day ever (or at least the most memorable). "I reject your reality and substitute my own" ~Adam Savage
  18. I don't know if this is what you're going for, but on a recent trip, my friends and I were somewhat disappointed at the lack of jumpers. There was about 75% less jumpers than I had seen there at the same time last year. It was pretty windy while we were there, and one day, when the winds were calming down, I turned to a friend and said, "I'm pretty glad there isn't as many people here as usual. There is something to be said for the mob mentality. I know that if so many people were here it would be more likely one person would decide, 'Hell, I'm jumping' and get the whole group going." About 30 minutes later a group of people arrived, looked at the landing area, and talked to us about how the winds had been earlier that day. One jumper decided, Hell, I'm jumping, and that's all it took for all of us to grab our gear. The winds at this time were not bad, just slightly questionable. Enough that if it was a solo, I don't many of us would have gone. Yet, all the jumps were uneventful. That one jumper ended up dying at a different site not long after. Yes, There is something about group dynamics (aka the mob mentality) but I don't think it's a good thing. Holly Joan "I reject your reality and substitute my own" ~Adam Savage

    KIDS and BASE

hell, why wait until they are 16? "I reject your reality and substitute my own" ~Adam Savage
  21. Yeah, but I don't think Tom was around when the paper spent nearly a month debating whether it was ok for a father to keep his teenage kids from taking a drug test...or the time that the front page story was whether there should be divides on Blue Lakes Blvd or the time a kid was arrested at the elementary school, the paper said it was for drug possession; the kid really just had a pocket knife...and then there was the time (about 5 years ago) they wrote about building a new high school, the editorial said that it was one of the most supported issues: there is still only one high school. Not to mention they can't keep an editor for an entire year. This paper is used as a launch or a fall back for writers/editors. I lived in Twin Falls for 19 years, and my mother works for the paper. I've seen it all, and it's usually a bunch of crap. "I reject your reality and substitute my own" ~Adam Savage
  22. I have to question how much sway the Times News actually has on the local community. For being the only local paper and main media outlet for Twin Falls I believe it has a relatively small impact on public policy. The majority of the time the paper is limited to gossip and quips, ususally directed to an individual or family. It has also been grossly inaccurate on many "headline stories." The editorial is rarely local, and they are usually just trying to find something the write about. If I remember correctly, during the event last year there was an editorial about how good it was. After years of knowing this paper from the inside and out, I would not personally rely on their editorials as an accurate portrayal of Twin's public opinion. shannon pc

I watched her folding her PC a couple days before the accident. I just saw the beginning, but it looked like she was just using a standard mushroom. "I reject your reality and substitute my own" ~Adam Savage
  24. So if unpaked jumps aren't base, can we send people off the brigde with no canopy experiance as long as they're unpacked? "I reject your reality and substitute my own" ~Adam Savage
  25. That seems to be pretty common with my friends' girlfriends that i've seen come and go...either that or the girl starts jumping, which is _very_ rare (and not necessarily a better outcome). Honestly, you guys just need to find better women! As for my time to stop: I think there will be a time that I'm at an exit point and I'll turn away, knowing I don't need it anymore. I doubt that moment will come after marriage (because my fiance jumps more than I do
