You should also expect to compensate the training rigger. I don't know that I would end up charging a lot less than some of the classes. There are costs for the written and the oral and practical. This is a lot of time, effort, and responsibility for the training rigger.

It can work the other way too... I am getting paid by my rigging mentor. He has enough work for both of us to keep busy. I don't do any repacks for customers, but I've supported myself by spending hours at a sewing machine just learning, and I can make a mean line set.

  2. I'm doing a marketing project focusing on introducing products to India. It would really be helpful if I can find someone who has been part of the culture there (not just a visitor).

    Thanks!

  3. well, let me put it this way...

    When I'm driving (in the U.S. :)
In my training videos my pulls are extremely awkward and lazy even though I was making a conscience effort to pull as hard as could. Got my first rig switched to left and not once tried to pull right.

From the very beginning I was naturally doing practice pulls on the ground with my left, I never did it in the sky, but I got laughed at a lot when I was on the table reaching with my left on my first few "run throughs".

  4. Hey, I did search...not too thoroughly , but I did search! And that thread is older than my jumping career.

Besides, I'm not really talking about switching to left handed, just always being left handed.... I feel lonely pulling left with no cool injury story to go with it.

  5. I just got a message from a friend that asked if there was a crazy left handed jumper club. So far the only person I know that jumps exclusively left handed is me.

I made 40 skydives on student/rental gear with a right pull. After that I was done with struggling to pull right handed. I am a very left handed person. Most days it doesn't seem like my brain even connects to my right hand.

Both my skydiving and BASE jumping rigs are left handed BOC with emergency handles not moved, and I usually get a very funny response when people notice.

Anyway, does anyone else jump exclusively left handed? I know a few that switched it after an injury, but I know I can't be the only one who did this just because it feels better.

  8. I did laugh at it. For a second [:/]. Then I thought about it, and I argee. I'd rather have no list than that on it.

If you ever made a jump with a dead (before they died) jumper, tell someone else to drink.

    now really...
how many people have jumped with a dead jumper AFTER they passed away?:P

does anybody care to admit it?:o

Ash dives? I would count that as jumping with someone after they died. Then again, I think that some of my friends that are now gone are with me on every jump...but that's just sappy stuff.

    I want to BASE jump.

I know nothing about BASE jumping

I would say that's your biggest problem right now... I have a big, long response in my mind, but I'm in the middle of studying for a final.

On a slightly different topic, I never knew why so many people in here were such, well, jerks to those that post comments like that. Guess what guys? After two years I get it now! :S

  11. So, I've been talking to friends and family in the Twin Falls area lately, and I asked those working in the media industry there what the deal was with all the recent reports of suicides and other issues at the bridge.

What I've gathered is that there is a group that is recently trying to push new legislation at the bridge, and the reports are getting pushed into the paper to help the case. I know there is always people out there that think regulation is the answer, ect, ect. I'm sure the current locals may be a little more informed.

Anyway, this is just an FYI because I was a little surprised of the information. Last Labor Day was super chill, and maybe this Memorial Day isn't the time to start the Twin Falls "boogies" again.

  12. Suicides are extremely common at the Perrine. They are just reporting it a lot more lately. Not really sure why. They used to have an agreement in the local news channels to not report any suicides from the bridge. When I worked at a local radio station we got a suicide report almost monthly.

  13. Well this explains when I was packing my left handed rig and my friend told me "That shit is going to kill you."

He must have been talking about me being left handed, not my rig.:S:D

  14. I never did, and still don't, feel that. Which is good for me because, like you, I hate that feeling. Maybe it's a (sub)conscious thing. I don't like it and maybe make myself not feel (or possibly notice) it.

PS it's a weird shape....Whats up with that?

Ooh, ooh! I know, I know!

When they were setting the state line for Idaho, they were supposed to follow the continetal divide (to the east of Idaho) but they ran across the Bitterroot river and realized they were not on the divide, by the direction the river flows. Instead of going back, they just drew a line to the Canadian border and called it good.

  16. yes, I know I'm a chronic whiner with this one, but it has been ingrained in me since I was a little kid. Plus, I seem to be the only one who cares enough to make a difference! :)

  17. The one that really pisses me off is people who can't f-ing put a space between a and lot. It's not even a grammar thing, it's just laziness! "alot" is not a word...EVER!
