  1. Yeah. it took me about five minutes to make the same graphs within the excel sheet. I'm working on a conversion loop from that cvs to a gpx/or a kml track for a google earth track. I'm $250 poorer now too... This isn't flying, its falling with style.
  2. I've heard MAC OS can support some Windows applications... is there a similar method for Windows w/MAC apps? Since the logger creates the CSV file (easily opened in MS office) and the config file is a TXT (easily does your PC even matter? Does windows recognize the flysight as a drive? 3. Not all towers that big have elevators... This isn't flying, its falling with style.
  4. If you like this then you'll love my Reserve Activation Device.... -We attach a skyball-like release to a 750' collapsible spring loaded rod (this rod has an aerodynamically weighted tip to keep it oriented downward regardless of body position and is connected via a curved brace and cable to your reserve pin). -The device is typically mounted on a jumper's pelvis but can also be attached to unique surfaces such as the forehead or chest for comfort. The connection to the reserve is flexible and allows for creative attachment by the user! -Around 1500' the skyball release frees the spring loaded rod and it rapidly extenz toward the ground and locks in position in preparation for activation. -Mere seconds later the tip of the rod impacts the ground and releases the reserve pin, resulting in a timely and life saving reserve deployment at 750' (ish). -After activation to the rod becomes limp and is easily folded or discarded in preparation for landing! -Pictures available!! 5. I'm 6'7" and 220 lbs. Looks like I've got to buy some hydroxycut or something. Can I sit in an exit row wearing my wingsuit? This isn't flying, its falling with style.
  6. Wow! That guy is a stick! Make sure to get video for the rest of us. This isn't flying, its falling with style.
  7. I've heard rumors... ever seen a tonysuit made from something other than parapack? An x-bird in zp would be a sweet. I don't get out much so they could exist already... This isn't flying, its falling with style.
  8. Thanks for building a quality, comfortable, awesome suit. It was totally worth the cost (and the wait). Its not a real fight until someone drops their prices (hint hint )... As cool as the x could be, I'm not about to buy another parapack sweatbag for $1500. This isn't flying, its falling with style.
  9. Awesome video. "buy a wingsuit" okay
  10. We had a bunch of these in our TPE. They've got tons of mounting adapters and record to an SD card. Batteries probably won't last a whole patrol though. We didn't use them much but it might work for you. http://www.vio-pov.com/products/index.php This isn't flying, its falling with style.
  11. I've never been bumped at any DZ except once at Temple... then someone lost their shit in manifest and us funjumpers got our own load
  12. That thing has some amazing speed and it looked solid the whole flight. I'll be down there this weekend. I'm ready for it this time, you won't burn me twice.... This isn't flying, its falling with style.
  13. Stupid questions from a youngster: how does this relate to maintaining and altering mains? Is the main technically part of the parachute (the part that requires certificates)? Advisory Circular 105-2C, Sec. 6 states: "In the case where the harness and parachute are TSO-approved as an intended component, the term pack refers to the complete parachute assembly, less the main canopy and risers. This distinction is essential for a clear understanding relating to the use, packing, repairing, and alteration of parachutes." 105-2C also says that, "the user of a single harness, dual pack parachute system, which is a sport assembly consisting of a main and auxiliary/reserve parachute, may perform simple assembly and disassembly operations [...]" is there any further guidance on simple assembly/disassembly of already approved components? Stupid questions complete. For now edit for a: "?" mark This isn't flying, its falling with style.
  14. Rodeos sound fun... I'm not nearly as tiny as most of these girls are, will that make carrying me a problem? 1. Purple Mike 2. BASE 851 (aka Ted) 3. Matt Hoover 4. Simon Bones 5. Surely 6. 15. So I used search rather than starting a new one.... Anyone with a wingsuit jumping at Skydive Houston this weekend? This isn't flying, its falling with style.
  16. Didn't mean to drift too much, just being a snide jackass If they're shooting in IMAX/3D are they using those huge IMAX cameras? This isn't flying, its falling with style.
  17. That's some awesome flying! The barrell roll was pretty sweet and I bet it'd fit into some kind of grid too. What's the V3 lead time at these days, 90 weeks? This isn't flying, its falling with style.
  18. I'll be there... and we can reenact my first flight... glide ratio: INFINITY! Ranch. Summer 2010. This isn't flying, its falling with style.
  19. That was hilarious! “Duncan! Duncan!” I nearly spit food all over my laptop, then I saved the video so I can watch it again later. To all the internet-empowered safety regulators: 1) That was as close to a 'harness modification' as the passenger carrying a phone in their pocket or you carrying a streamer in your jumpsuit. I’ve seen passengers carry flowers, sports drinks and all kinds of random shit. 2) It was about as malicious as handing someone a sour jawbreaker and I bet he still had fun when it was over too. 3) Skydiving is supposed to be fun, the spiraling looked high enough to be safe and I'd say that the instructor was highly professional to conduct this 'special jump' safely while still making it exciting for the passenger. .... then again the tandem passenger was screaming under canopy, and screaming is the mark of an unprofessional and dangerous instructor. edit to add: I'm no TI, but the word student never appears in Part 105.45. The term is "passenger" This isn't flying, its falling with style.
  20. I don't get back from beach-ville until January sometime but I'll probably be out at Temple the weekend I get back... it's super close and I have a blast there. Gotta love the green and blue paint too Mike: I'm jealous of you right now but swooping is for homos, sell your velo and get a low pull or at least wingsuit friendly rig. 30 second 2 ways from 3000'
  21. Paratrooper, in a profession where we offer (or used to) our lives to protect and preserve the freedoms of others, don't you find it contradictory to advocate restricting those freedoms, not for safety or welfare but for bigoted beliefs and tradition? Can you defend them, ensure their freedom and deny them basic liberties at the same time? No. The Supreme Court will inevitably fix this egregious slight just like it did with interracial marriage laws, and school segregation - each of those once esteemed legal principles is now renounced but they remain a stain on our national history. This is all fairly obvious to anyone with an objective view (aka not a bigot) This isn't flying, its falling with style.
  22. Past? I bet most of you are old enough to remember then. For those of us born later than the 'past' the "nature" of marriage was for the clean whites to marry among each other and likewise with the non-whites. Now the "nature" of marriage is What used to be (and still is in places), "I'm not racist, but..." is now "I'm not prejudiced, BUT..." Will history view you to be the equivalent of those 60's Jim-Crow enforcers forty or fifty years from now? ...not that bill can't answer, but that was too easy and I'm back to lurking... This isn't flying, its falling with style.
  23. Sounds a lot like the Louisianna Justice of the Peace a while back... "I'm not a racist. I just don't believe in mixing the races that way." Earl Warren said something about that and this: "Marriage is one of the "basic civil rights of man," fundamental to our very existence and survival.... To deny this fundamental freedom on so unsupportable a basis as the racial classifications embodied in these statutes, classifications so directly subversive of the principle of equality at the heart of the Fourteenth Amendment, is surely to deprive all the State's citizens of liberty without due process of law. The Fourteenth Amendment requires that the freedom of choice to marry not be restricted by invidious racial discrimination. Under our Constitution, the freedom to marry, or not marry, a person of another race resides with the individual and cannot be infringed by the State." edit to add: I love that you just used a Mildred Loving quote. I just gave you the Loving v Virginia ruling This isn't flying, its falling with style.
  24. So I usually lurk around this forum and don't post much but this is ridiculuos so here it goes... It seems to me that this whole thing was propagated by someone trying to standardize/regulate wingsuit instruction (which could eventually lead to the whole discipline) with their standards and methods. Their way must obviously be superior and produce safer wingsuit 'pilots' while every other instructor/school/experience jumper who interacts with new wingsuiters is promoting unsafe behavior through their obviously inadequate instruction. So let's advance our method by shunning and decrying others as unsafe to a governing body/regulatory government agency. Now the discipline everyone enjoys could be jeopardized by this political-chess bull shit. It's too late to ask, but to whoever did/does this please don't continue to risk what we love with your fear-mongering. @the original question: I've buzzed canopies with a plan inside 5m and tandems (no closer than 200m). I've also had TIs ask me to come find them under canopy. In my opinion, tandems seem to like it more when you're a ways off in front of them so they can see your gayly colored suit in flight and then your opening too. If the last tandem aka your 'target' is flying up jumprun then you can go by safely at a distance (farther is better as they can see more of your sick flight), open and fly back. You can be seen pretty much the whole time and thought of as cool by someone who can't remember their own name when they land, usually amid shrieks and screams. ...back to lurking... edit: I'm in iraq and haven't seen a parachute in 6-7 months, so I could be 'behind' or 'tactless' as the sand makes me grumpy.
